I sure could go for a Russo’s combo sub right now with a limeade. AAAAA+++ for many, many years!!!

We just had lunch here. It’s your basic old fashioned sub shop. Family run(grandkids hangin out helping at the soda fountain), been here since 1948. The meatball sub was great. The bread though, deserves the biggest accolades! Super soft but still substantial!

NOTHINGSPECIAL… Heard about this place from a co-worker & decided to give it a try. Ordered a Turkey & Cheese. Kinds of cheeses, u ask??? Only provolone! Toppings, u ask??? Lettuce, tomato & a pickle that looks dehydrated. They give you a pack of mayo & mustard«on the side». The bread??? White hoagie bun that is hard & chewy. I’ve gotten better subs at Publix. I guess I’m too used to quality subs, like the ones I get at Laspadas. The place stays packed, so maybe I’m the only one that feels this way.

Russo’s is excellent if you are looking for a sub that is premade, lacks flavor, and utilizes the lowest quality ingredients imaginable. I know it’s been around forever, but so have other fast food chains that cater to those with questionable palates. If you are willing to spend a few more dollars on a sub then why not chose one made to order with excellent ingredients? Many other reviews leave me puzzled. It’s a consistent message of folks dining at Russo’s since they were kids. Fast forward 40 years, put your adult taste buds on, and come to the realization your nostalgia is interfering with your senses.

My folks used to bring us to Russo’s when we were kids. I’m 40 now, and it’s still my favorite sandwich anywhere! The staff are a fun and happy lot. Every time you walk through the door you get a great big«Hello!» and a «Thank you, come again!» as you leave. The big chains could learn a thing or two from these guys! I’ve heard that the meatball sub is awesome, but in the 30+ years I’ve been coming here, I’ve only ever had 1 sandwich. The Russo. Why mess with perfection?! The bread makes the sanwich, it’s always soft, and slightly sweet. It contrasts the meat and spices nicely. Best Samiches ever!

Meh. Not the best sandwich around. Ok quality. But someone needs to learn how to assemble a sandwich. Veggie ingredients are haphazardly prepped. To big so as you eat they push out the back or the top. And be prepared to remake your sub if you order Togo. You’ll have to add what ever condiments you asked for yourself. Not that it’s expensive but, I didn’t pay almost 20 $ to make it myself…

Nothing to be blown away by but nothing to run away from. Not fancy, just simple. If you need a quick bite but something that’s fresh and will fill you up, give it a try. I got the Russo sandwich but added some turkey. The premake the sandwiches so they are ready to go right when you order. Simple, easy, cheap. Why not. Not complaints.

Not sure if this is how they do things normally or if it was a lazy day but when I went I asked for the Russo sub and 5 seconds later was handed a pre-made wrapped sandwich. I asked for mayo and oil and they were thrown in the bag. Hmm. So they don’t make sandwiches to order, you kind of have to make it yourself and I’m not even sure when that sandwich was made: this morning? yesterday? Bizarre. It’s not a deli, it’s more like going to a grocery store and picking a pre-made sandwich. Say what you want about Subway at least they make the sandwich in front of you. Sandwich was nothing special, good bread, a definite pass.

OK. Russo’s has been doing this for at least the 42 years I have lived here. In the old days, if you did not get there by 2 or 2:30 you were out of luck since they bake their own bread on premises and only made so much each day. The small used to be 2.00 and the large 2.50. We always got extra tomatoes since they grow them here and they were always very fresh in those days. Fast forward to Subway, Jimmy John’s, La Spada, which has been around about the same amount of time, and yes, V&S in Boca, which sells the best Italian in the state, but not if they don’t like or know you.(You have to go there to understand that.) So, when I read negatives on Russo’s, I KNOW these are people who eat at Subway and like it and probably just came to town. No, just because they bake their own bread and have been around for a long time doesn’t necessarily make them good, but they are. I had jury duty today and planned my trip there as soon as I got the summons. I only get there once or twice a year now, and yes, there are better places that charge a LOT more, but to me, a large or small Russo’s is about more than just the fresh sandwich and decent quality deli products – WAY above Subway but not quite at the level of V&S, and Jimmy definitely has the best chips in town. Russo’s is a local institution that survives, prospers, and offers the same food it did 40 years ago at not too big a price hike – about $ 8-$ 9 for lunch depending. Look, it’s a sub, which means processed meat on a roll. The entire experience for those of us who have been around for a while is very reassuring and the food is DEFINITELY worth what they charge. Why do you think SUBWAY gives away their food? You get what you pay for friends, and if you are over 6 years old and see«FREE» advertised and believe it, you need to see a doctor. Don’t go to Russo’s and expect a gourmet meal for $ 8. Go there and enjoy the history, the fresh food, and the experience of eating a Russo’s sub. Too bad Harvey’s BBQ, the Hut, and the awful but necessary-at-4am-after-a-night-at-Pete– and-Joel’s Hungry Traveler are gone, but Russo’s marches on! Oh, and I don’t understand the remarks about the people. They are as nice as can be at all times. Enjoy!

Any time I’m in west Palm I make sure I hit russos. Awesome subs, great prices, and the employees enjoy what they do, with a friendly cheerful smile.

More bull$hit reviews!!! Come on! They pre-make the sub rolls with lettuce and tomato on them, then put them in a fridge. When you order they throw the meat on top, and give you everything else on the side. All the product taste cheap as $hit. Honestly this place is so bad, I thought about opening a sub shop next store to put them out of business.

Russos is a landmark sub shop in the area. They slice meat to order, which is a freshness plus. The bread is good. It loses a couple of stars with me because the service is about as good as one might find in line at the DMV. It’s not warm. It’s not personal. The dining room is run down and could use a facelift. The tile floors show dirt, which, if you move a table a little bit, you find in great amounts because the staff doesn’t do details well. Particularly with its rep, it could be one of the busiest restaurants in the area. Instead its about two stars shy of greatness. Reliable, but not someplace I’d seek out if I wasn’t in the immediate area. Given their location, they should be working harder to be a destination sub shop.

I can’t understand why all the positive comments. I went and had«The Russo». It was nothing to brag about. A little bit of meat(just ham and salami) on bread with veggies and oil and vinegar. Will never go back. If you want a GREAT sub sandwich, go to La Spada’s or V & S Deli in Boca Raton.

I don’t get it — giant sweet Hawaiin hot dog rolls with bland meats. To some it’s heaven, to us it was a bad stop. Two of us got different sandwiches and they were just as disappointed. Friendly fast service — but I’ll go somewhere else next time — even Subway tastes better than this.

Read the reviews and had mixed feelings about giving this place a try. Was at an employers location for my job and asked the employees there what they felt about Russo’s and they gave it much praise so I figured if the locals love it, it must be good. I got the Russo’s Combo and it was okay. The meat to bread ratio is definitely lacking and the quality of meat wasn’t the best. I’ll say it is better than Subway but not by much. No where compared to my favorite chain sub shop, Jimmy Johns. Give it a try if you have no idea where else to go, but don’t expect the BEST sub in the world like some of the other reviews have mentioned.

Not sure what all the fuss is about! Stopped by this establishment to pick up a sandwich today. I had heard a lot about Russo’s so I went in with heightened expectations. The parking lot was completely packed and the store inside was fairly full so I thought WOW, this must be a pretty special spot! I ordered the Russo’s combo with oil and peppers and had a soda to wash it down. The food was acceptable but nothing really stood out about it. It looked like the rolls are prepared ahead of time and they just slap on the meat after you order. Again, this is just a basic deli hoagie that you can get just about anywhere. No need to make a special trip here to eat. Service was quick and friendly. They had a few more sandwiches available(but not many) on their menu. Pricing was very reasonable. I’d go back but like I said, no need to go out of your way to eat here. Just fair.

So I’m a stranger in a new land of Oranges, and Alligators, as my friend Alicia scoops me up from PBI, and we head back to our fort, i say«I’m pretty damned hungry, anyway we can grab a bite?» she says«Sure, what do you want?». I make a i don’t know type gesture with my hands«Seeing as i don’t know where i am, you pick the spot?» She says, «How about something that has a long lasting tradition in this neck of Florida?» I say«sure». He we are at Russos, i order the 9 In Russo with oil an vinegar, an crushed red pepper flakes, she has the same and we both had a Dr. Pepper. I tell you I’ve encountered many Subs in my day, but Simplicity is the winner her, this sub made my toes curl, and i can say i walked away full and happy, thank you Russo’s for the great Sandwich! Oh and they also deliver now(Not to TX sadly) So if you are in the Palm Beach area, stop by Russos an have a Sub!

Every time I’m in Florida I have to have a regular Russo’s sub. Their subs are amazing and the bread is delectable. I was living in Texas and my wife was visiting Florida and I had her bring me a Russo’s in her carry on to ensure it didn’t get damaged. I was like a kid on Christmas morning and devoured it all in seconds.
