Early on in my career, when I was an Air Conditioning technician, I worked for others and learned a lot from them. One thing that really stuck in my head was one AC business owner was struggling financially. He was a good man, but didn’t understand finance or the principal of «if you’re not making a profit, you’re going to go out of business.» I admired him when he hired a business financial consultant who came in an analyzed every aspect of his business. The finding were life saving for this decent man. Every service he did, he wasn’t charging enough. The costs of the entire operation, which included his facilities costs, property taxes, his vehicles, their cost of operation, the salary for his men, health costs, liability costs and insurance. When he added it all up, the owner was told that he was loosing money on every service call he made. It also taught me that all of these offers for $ 29 tuneups are scams. My advise to you is to stay clear of these low ball offers.
