It was a spare of the moment decision, I decided to take my sister and myself to ACC to see if we’d adopt a new puppy for our current pet companion of 7 years. As we drove up to park the truck, my sister had noticed that they were allowing a free adoption fee for kittens in which we both got very interested.
We parked and made our way into the building only to sign in and check the few dogs and kittens that they had nearby the door in clean cages. We were greeted with an adorable kitten that managed to escape his cage. We played around for a while before placing him back and finally took a look at the kittens and puppies they had.
Two adorable kittens took our attention. We asked the older woman who was in the room if she could open the cages for them both, in which she did. Me and my sister both held the kittens together. The kitten I held was calm and snuggles against me while my sisters kitten played with her and purred the whole time. We found kittens that matched our personalities in such a timely manner.
We adopted them and were able to finally find partners for our 7 year old companion.

So as my boyfriend and I were approaching Animal Care and Control PBC, we decided to stop in and «take a look». Taking a look became «ohmigoodness, we have to take her home».
As you walk into the facility, you quickly realize that it is quite similar to many of the county government buildings. For the most part, the staff are enthused and ready to help but there are still the few who seem like they couldn’t care less.
The animals are seperated by species and by their availability for adoption. It was my first time visiting an Animal Rescue center, so the loudness of the animals caught me off guard.
After passing all the pitbulls and bigger dogs, we came across our newest addition. She’s a small Manchester Terrier Mix with just the cutest little face.
There is a process for observing, playing and selecting a dog. I would advise that you let the animal staff know that you are serious and ready. One of the other patrons, tried to bypass the process and take the dog we had been playing with and ultimately decided on. The supervisor of the facility intervened and we were able to finalize the adoption process.
If you are a renter, be advised that they will call the landlord to confirm your eligibility to adopt a dog.
All animals leaving the Animal Care and Control Center are spayed/​neutered which is covered through the adoption cost. There is also a sample bag of food that is provided to start you and your new friend on your way.
Overall, it was a satisfactory process and I would recommend someone looking for a furry friend to consider a rescue.

This place proves why animals are sometimes better than people. Arrogant, nasty female staff worker snapped at me after asking an innocent question. If you do not like your job, do not take it out on visitors! Overall, plenty of dogs to see. Most being Pit-​Bulls.

Someone left a cat in a pet carrier on my door step yesterday morning probably because they did not want to pay the government to destroy and dispose of their cat. I called at 8am and was told it would cost me 20 dollars for them to come and get the cat. The animal control officer said it would most likely be the next day before they could come.
