La Bella Hair Salon

Today was my first day going to La Bella hair salon but it definitely won’t be my last. Crystal did a fantastic job on my cut and color. It’s very natural looking and is by far one of the best cuts I’ve had in a long time. Thank you so much!!! 6 out of 5 stars!

I have been going to Kellie for many years now and she always does an excellent job. She does the best color and has fixed my hair a few times after I have attempted to dye it myself (this is very impressive, because I have gone to her with patches of orange in my hair and she has brought it back to a cohesive blonde). I would highly recommend her to anyone thinking about coloring their hair.
Overall La Bella has a great atmosphere, all the stylists are friendly and welcoming, and the space is clean and inviting. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would recommend.

Crystal is an amazing stylist (and the owner) and always makes me look and feel great! I’ve gone after getting married, while pregnant, and now after having the baby and she always knows exactly what I want — not an easy thing to do with me. Also, I’m not a detail oriented person when it comes to my hair/​style so she is very understanding when I don’t know what I want or if I know what I want but don’t know how to explain it. But today I did come prepared and showed her a picture of what I had in mind and it looks even better than the picture! So happy this time and all the previous visits :)
Bottom line: no regrets going here and if you’re on the fence, just go! You won’t regret it either.

This salon is always very clean with a comfortable feel. I always make my appointment with Kellie. I’ve been seeing her for years, and followed her from another salon. I have never gotten a bad cut or color. She’s pretty awesome! I’ve even sent several of my friends and even some acquaintances to her. Last April I decided I was going to take the plunge and grow out my gray. Im only 32, but started going gray in my teens. Needless to say, my gray is not at all sparse! The transition has been great. We did foils of a darker ashy brown to match my natural color underneath at the back of my neck to blend and make the hair growth look more natural. It totally eliminated that straight root line you get as you grow out colored hair. In between foils we’ve done semipermanent color that sticks to my already colored hair but not to my roots. It’s been almost a year now and I’m loving the progress. Anyone interested in going this route make an appointment with Kellie, she’ll do a great job.

This is my first time writing a review (yes, I was this happy about my hair lol). I came here yesterday for the first time to get a cut/​color/​blow dry from Daniella and it was probably the first time I’ve ever left a hair salon satisfied with how my hair came out. I went in with a photo of what I wanted my hair to look like. She told me that it would take more than one process to get my desired colour and I understood bc my hair was very orange and golden when I went in. She took out the colour swatches and showed me how light she was able to go and I trusted her to do whatever.
To be honest I love the end result of my hair even more than the photo I showed her. She got rid of all the orange brassy tones in my blonde hair (which was what I really wanted). She also cut off all my dead ends without taking off too much length. Not to mention the best blow dry I’ve ever had! Thank u Daniella :))
The salon was really clean, nice & chic. I already made another appointment with Daniella. Definitely my new favorite hairstylist.

Kellie is amazing! I moved to the South Shore over two years ago and still make the drive to see her every 5 weeks. I am going gray on top but not completely and she always mixes my color so you can never see roots, just new grays. That’s hard to do with very dark hair. She also helped correct a terrible ombré that a salon in Hingham did several years ago. I stopped trying to find a salon close to home after that. She is very, very good for cuts and color — especially for those of us who need to color/​conceal often. Always worth the trip!

I gave them a call and I was able to be seen within 45 minutes. I was in such good hands. I went in told them to redo my look whatever they think was best. They changed my color and gave me a easy style to work with. Thanks will be back.

I gravitated towards this salon because i had a great cut with Wedad a few months ago. She is no longer at the salon so I opted for a cut and blow dry with Kellie after reading reviews.
I have never been so disappointed in my 56 yrs. My cut was uneven. Went back for Kellie to correct and she made it much worse. She cut and razored my hair into shreds.
I don’t know who is giving her such great reviews on Unilocal.But, this is an honest review. Very surprised the owner of the salon does not realize Kellie’s inability to perform a quality job. I feel a 1^st grader could have done better with a scissor and razor!

This is going to be a long review detailing everything that went wrong with my appointment so brace yourself. I was really excited to go to this place after seeing all the positive reviews. I had Kellie and asked for a cut and balayage and I showed her an exact picture of what color I wanted. I told her exactly how I wanted the ends to look– like a strawberry blonde. I didn’t want brown ends because I thought it wouldn’t go with my skin color. She kind of said «okay» and before I know it she’s mixing the bleach. This made me nervous because I told her that it was my first time coloring and she didn’t really walk me though the process. She just said we’d have to cut a little off, bleach it, and add toner. So I assumed I should just trust that she would do what I wanted because she must have done color on so many people before me.
While she’s bleaching, I’m asking a ton of questions like «how far up my hair are you bleaching?» and «can we make sure it fades somewhat naturally?» Because I have black hair and I wanted to go to blonde at the bottom. That transition’s gotta be difficult. She answered my questions curtly, which is fine, but I felt annoying asking so many questions and there wasn’t really a conversation between us in the first place so it felt like me badgering her over and over again.
While I was waiting for the bleach to process, she finally showed me the palette with hair/​toner samples and showed me which one she was going to use. It was a light brown. I told her I wanted the one above it, a lighter blonde, because that was more like the picture and I didn’t want brown. She said no, this color is the one in the picture, like a honey blonde. And that my hair wouldn’t lighten enough to achieve that color– I would have to apply another round of bleach for that. So many things wrong here. Maybe on someone who is already blonde, adding in that color could look like a dirty blonde. But on someone with black hair and brown skin? That is brown. She kept insisting that it was blonde. As for the second bleach thing: what in the world. She should have shown me the hair samples before I started bleaching so that I could tell her I wanted a lighter color than she thought I wanted and then she could tell me that that would require two rounds of bleaching. I probably wouldn’t have done color then because I had a tight schedule that day up until I go back to college. I told her I was a color virgin! Did she expect me to know that that look wasn’t possible with one visit? Nothing was explained to me beforehand.
At this point I’m pretty annoyed but I let her wash out the bleach and cut my hair. As she starts drying it, she realizes the back ended up way lighter than the front. She showed me the back and it was the EXACT color I wanted. A pretty large color difference actually. She asked me if I was SURE that I’d never had coloring before because how else could that have happened. Maybe she applied it wrong or heated the back more than the front but don’t ask me if I was lying.
She said she’d wash some toner to make the back darker to match the front. I asked if there was any way we could lighten the front because the back was the color I wanted. We again started a back and forth about whether the color my hair ended up was blonde. Honestly I’ve been in customer service before and I know if the roles were reversed, I would have apologized that I didn’t understand her request and that I would do what I could to remedy the situation. Either she’s color blind or she was trying to convince me that I was! Both possibilities are bad. She could tell I was pissed because that conversation ended awkwardly and then reminded me that we’d have to bleach it again and there simply wasn’t time for that but I could come in another day to do that. I just gave up at this point. There was no concern over the fact that I was disappointed with the result.
I tried to be courteous with her as she finished my hair but what little she said at that point sounded pretty fake and «I don’t want to deal with this customer anymore» not that she was particularly friendly from the start.
She said my hair would look good wavy so she’d use a diffuser to get that look. I told her my hair would dry frizzy if not dried properly and she assured me that the diffuser would make it look great. She also said she would only dry it halfway because that would make it not frizzy. I’m sorry – what? Since when does not fully drying thick, wavy hair make it LESS frizzy? At that point I was done arguing so I let her half blow dry my hair until it was just damp and then redried it myself when I got home.
Everyone I’ve shown my hair to agrees with me– my hair is brown, not blonde. I was looking for something edgy and ended up with something that’s pretty blah. And I spent a lot for a college student. I gave an extra star because the cut was good and she rewashed my hair when she realized there was an inconsistency. Hopefully this color will grow on me.

After a few less than satisfactory haircuts over the past year, I knew it was time to move on from my old hair stylist. I scoured Unilocal, & landed on La Bella Salon, the before & after pics caught my eye. More hair salons should post these! OK, these all look good, let’s give it a try.
I took my 14 yr old daughter here to see Daniella for a simple cut. She hadn’t had anything done to her hair in 9 months, she was growing out a too-​short ‘do from December. Daniella listened to what she wanted, then simply gave her just that. Looked great! I went ahead and booked Crystal for a cut & partial foil. (The receptionist steered me to Crystal after hearing that I was gun-​shy after 3 bad previous cuts elsewhere).
The salon is cute, clean & not too loud. The stylists all seem to be concentrating on their work, I appreciate that. Crystal listened to my requests for a mini trim to clean up the scraggly ends from the last cut without sacrificing length, and brought over color swatches for us to review before the foil. She mentioned that foils worked better for my hair than balayage to blend my grays. Good to know!
The result was just what I wanted, both color & cut. I like a haircut to look fresh but not necessarily «just cut». I appreciated the fact that she patiently listened to me as I reminded her more than once (just to reassure myself) to not take too much hair off. Thanks Crystal!
Too many stylists seem to assume that a cut means 2 plus inches off every time you come in to justify their prices. I could not get my last stylist to understand that I really do mean ¼ to ½ inch off MAX. I was constantly walking out with 2 plus inches lopped off. I would then wait 4 – 5 months between cuts to grow it out only to have her lop it off again. Or ends that had been hacked with a razor or thinning shears.
If you need a new stylist, give La Bella a try! So glad I did!
Note: there is 1 hour meter parking out front. Crystal was thoughtful enough to feed the meter throughout my appt, since I was parked right outside.

This place creates the Unilocal dilemma: it is SUCH a great place that I want to rave about it but I almost do not want to let the secret out because it is still pretty easy to book an appointment with the owner, how many places can you say that about? Well, my selfish side is taking a back seat because this place is too good not to review. The owner, Crystal, does an ah-​mazing job. She really listens but also knows how to make your vision work for you, which is the best combo. The price for the services is very reasonable. The location is great. The salon has a very chic yet comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and check them out, can’t recommend them enough.

This is the first time I have written a Unilocal review but wanted to do so after going to La Bella Hair Salon for the first time this morning. I went based solely on the five star Unilocal reviews and was delighted that I did. Kellie cut my hair as well as my 10 year old daughter’s and we were both very happy with our cuts, with Kellie’s attentiveness to what we wanted, and the overall atmosphere of the salon. So happy that I found a new salon, close to home, with great service and reasonable prices. Highly recommend!

Wedad is her name and she is as professional and as fun as you’d ever wish for in a hair stylist! Not only does she know the latest styles and cutting techniques, giving helpful suggestions along the way, but she is a wonderfully warm person. I had Wedad do my hair on a Tuesday and brought my elderly Mom in the next day: she was just as sensitive to my Mom’s needs as mine. My mother walked out with a beautiful cut, a new friend, and knowing Wedad would take care of her from now on. Wedad goes with the flow: this is a big part of what makes her head and shoulders (pun intended!) above the rest! Wedad is fun, funny, and a true professional. Great, GREAT experience!

This place is so cute! Super friendly, my stylist was nice to talk to during my appointment. She was even giving me tips because I recently cut my hair and haven’t figured out the best tools to style it with. I wish I remembered her name, ugh I have the worst memory. I came in for a blowout with curling which is about $ 38, comparably reasonable and worth it. They also gave me 20% off because I was a first time client. I’d come back next time I’m in town!

I am SO happy with my experience at this salon! I have been going to various salons around Newton for years, and I was never happy enough that I wanted to go back. I came across La Bella by reading other Unilocal reviews and I am so happy that I did! My stylist was Daniela, and she gave me exactly what I asked for (a blunt long bob). From start to finish I felt very welcomed and comfortable, which is something that most other salons were missing. Parking was very easy, and the cut was so affordable. I will definitely be a long time customer!

Kellie is an awesome hair stylist. She figured out how to make me happy again with my hair. She cuts it in a flattering style that suits my preference for minimal maintenance. When I recently needed my hair colored for the first time, she did a great job guiding me through decisions and matching my hair color to cover gray. Because she understands that I don’t want to make a habit of coloring my hair, she planned the color to go on selectively, so it won’t look bad when it grows out.
Kellie is the best!

Crystal did an amazing job on my hair. I could not be happier with the cut and the color. She is super talented, sweet and pays attention to detail. She listened to what I wanted and surpassed my expectations. I would recommend Crystal to anyone who is super picky about getting their hair colored. I just visited this salon for the first time yesterday, and Kellie did a wonderful job highlighting and cutting my hair! She paid attention to all of my concerns and was very careful about coloring my hair. I was impressed with her work and found it better than colorists I’ve visited In the past, including those on Newbury street. Definitely visit this salon and book an appointment with Kellie!

There is NO ONE like Kellie! She is absolutely amazing. My hair is super thick and not always the easiest to deal with. Kellie always takes her time with me and I’m always so in love with everything she does. She is incredibly talented, and can do anything for you from just an epic cut with layers to more complicated hair dyes and ombres. Kellie really takes the time to listen to what I want and make it fit for my hair. I trust her so much that she is also doing my wedding hair! If you go here, ask for Kellie and you won’t be disappointed!
As for the salon itself, I love the sleek and very modern feel. They keep the salon very clean and play great music which is essential when you’re sitting in the chair for a few hours!

I went here after a terrible experience at another salon (I asked for ombré and got… streaky yellow highlights). Crystal spent about an hour going through my whole head and dying back the damage done by the other salon to my original color. She then did a beautiful ombré and I finally got the style I was looking for! Not to mention, very reasonably priced and with student discount.
I will definitely be back!
