Pets and Vets As Partners

I love this place. I’ve moved all over the Midwest and the east coast and I’ve dealt with a lot of vets with different styles and attitudes. Pets and Vets is the best experience I’ve had.
As far as the veterinarians in this office, I’ve met exclusively with Dr. Ehlers. She has given my dog the most thorough physical exams, and she found some things that other vets have either missed or failed to mention. My dog is happier and healthier because of her, and I’m so grateful.
The vet techs are also wonderful, and just like Dr. Ehlers, they are thorough, friendly, and genuinely care about animals. Every time I’ve gone in I have not felt rushed; on the contrary, the first time I went, I was pleasantly surprised by how generous the entire staff is with their time.
I also boarded my dog here while I was away at a conference. They sent me text updates of my dog, with pictures, but did warn me they’d been having technical difficulties with this particular service. Luckily, I did receive the text updates. When I picked up my pup she was clean and happy.
One final thing: my dog recently had surgery at Pets and Vets. I received 1 phone call from Dr. Ehlers just after my dog had been put under, to assure me that she was doing fine with the anesthesia. I received another once the surgery was finished, and yet another before pick up time to once again assure me that my dog was healthy and well. Seriously, these guys are wonderful. I highly, highly recommend them.

Their biggest problem is professionalism. They need to treat clients with respect, and deliver on their promises.
I was warned not to go here, but I did anyway because it looked so much nicer than the other local vet office in the area.
The vet I saw about 4 times for puppy vaccines was extremely opinionated, and I did not feel like I had a good rapport with her. She was extremely condescending, and I felt as if I was being talked down to. My 10 week old puppy acted out at every visit, which is definitely an issue, but she said he had an aggression problem and referred us to a behaviorist, which was going to be a minimum of $ 200 for ONE consultation. A few months with a fabulous trainer from Petsmart and my puppy’s behavior has improved drastically. He had issues, but aggression was not one of them.
All in all, I didn’t appreciate the attitude.
Now for the boarding facility. I boarded my puppy twice. I love the staff, but I asked twice for a nail trim while he was there, and they didn’t get him into the spa. I was not given any reason why.
He’s also boarded there right at this moment (I was in a pinch), and was told I would be receiving text updates, but it’s been 2 days, and I have yet to get one.
I’ll no longer be using any of their services.

Love this vet office, love all the staff, and seriously love Dr. Strode! She is wonderful and obviously cares about your pets. Their cost may be a bit above average for the area, but to me it’s worth it. They typically will also go through all of the options for treatment so that you can make cost-​effective decisions.
They also have a boarding facility which is very nice too. I have boarded my dogs there a few times — every time, everyone is extremely friendly, they know my dogs by name, and they text pictures of the dogs every couple of days (the vet side also sends text pictures of the dogs after they wake up from a procedure like a teeth cleaning).
