Description

Specialties

The Merou Grotto is one of the landmark dance halls with nearly 2700 square feet of hardwood dance floor. Operating primarily as a Venue Location of Choice, we regularly host Wedding Receptions, Birthday and Anniversary Parties as well as Quinceañeras.

Merou Grotto has served as a respite for many organizations and peoples to have a local getaway from the stresses of daily life. Over the decades we have played host to collegiate rowing teams, multi-cultural events, fraternal charities, as well as a vast history in the Birthdays, Quinceañera, Anniversaries and of course Weddings and Vows thereof for countless newlyweds. We are more than just an event venue … our property is located immediately adjacent to the Wabash River north of the Downtown Core. The several acres of forest on the hillside serve as homes for Brown Tail Hawks, Brown and Common Owls, while our river front is host to fishing bars for Heron and Cranes. In the past the Fraternity was able to be a joy-filled organization that did many great works. It is now headed towards it again.

History

Established in 1952.

Merou was formed in the earliest decade of the 20th Century, with a membership that quickly rose to the hundreds by the 1940’s, with a great deal of public involvement. The current location was obtained in 1952 and has remained in the possession of the West Lafayette Chapter (Merou) ever since.

Today, most people know of the Grotto as a place to rent for hosting events. And that is a history we will always respect … THE Event Destination. The Merou Grotto remains one of the largest hardwood dance floors in Tippecanoe County and we are among the very rare and few locations that do not restrict the renter (that’s you) on your selection of Caterers, Entertainers or Event Service Providers.
