Delicious. Perfect if you want Nobu quality food, but don’t have time for the 4 star, 3 hour, fine dining event that goes along with it. I can’t speak for the rolls because I usually don’t order them, but everything I’ve eaten there is top notch… Hole in the wall secret gem of West Hollywood.

I was so afraid to leave this review because I didn’t want anyone to know my secret spot but it’s time the world knows. This place is the best kept secret in LA and TT is a master at what he does. Just let TT pick your meal and you won’t regret it.

This food is art. Wa was the first sushi restaurant I went to when I first moved to Los Angeles and it came to represent what I love most about this city: the most delicious restaurants can be hiding in the unlikeliest of places. From the outside it looks like a two story strip mall. You would never guess that on the second floor is the best sushi in Los Angeles. At this point we always have the omakase, or the chef’s tasting menu. It’s expensive, but every single course is a work of art. The food has A LOT of style and is incredibly beautiful. Every taste is something you’ll want to pause and wrap your head around. I can’t say it enough: go here. Order the omakase and understand how brilliant this chef and the staff he’s trained are.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place yet! Great quality sushi in a cute little spot upstairs. Service is good but the quality of food is what keeps me coming back. My go to spot in Weho. Anything on their top 15 list is a must.

When my friends said this was the best sushi that they had ever tried, I was skeptical. However, on a first visit I was extremely impressed by the freshness and presentation. The salmon sushi, which is served with a shisito leaf and a lemon gel(WHATUPMOLECULARGASTRONOMY?) was one of the dopest bites I’ve had to date. The wakame seaweed salad was spectacular, as was the scallop dish which was served with adorable little hearts of palm amouse bouches. Everything here was on point, and those same buds were right, I didn’t even need soy sauce. The flavors are totally there! I’m used to NYC prices, so this seemed par for the course for me, although others referred to the menu as «somewhat pricey». This is a good example of getting what you pay for! The only negative for us was the cluttered quality of the private room. It kind of seemed like we were eating in a storage space rather than a restaurant. We did make a late reservation, but even that can’t explain the plastic bag that is currently being used as a substitute for the window. Really tho, the eats are so baller, I would have enjoyed them if I was being served inside a dumpster.

I would say this is a good quality food(sushi & hot dishes) but not so fancy place Japanese restaurant. I love the crispy rice with spicy salmon(original is spicy tuna), live Amaebi(sweet shrimp) when it’s in season, king crab roll with soy paper and my friends said tempura is great but I’m not a fan of tempura. The seared scallop from Japan sushi is very good and love the seared salmon belly sushi. I wish they have more varieties of fish.

The first time I went I had no reservation. Every single table and seat at the sushi bar was empty. I was with 2 friends and they told us that they have reservations for every seat and could not seat us. We were shocked especially because the 2 people I was with have been many times and knew the staff. I went back a few days later with my sister. The chef owner Tete is very personable and friendly. We had some sushi, hand rolls, the Kobe beef sizzling plate and dessert. The sushi and hand rolls were very ok. The Kobe was actually very good, except for one of their priciest entrees, you expect more meat, there was only a few small pieces, they fill the plate with sauce, mushrooms and other veggies. We got the chocolate soufflé dessert which had a great texture but the quality of the chocolate was not very great. You can tell the pastry chef knows what she is doing but should use higher quality chocolate. So I went back with a friend who goes often a week later. He ordered me some sushi and I got the black cod in eggplant. The sushi was all less than mediocre. The toro which was very expensive was actually so fishy that I did not eat all of it. Very disappointing. The salmon sushi was not bad, but it is farm raised and covered in lemon salt which masks the flavor. The cod eggplant was to oily for my taste. I really wanted to like this place. I went back one more time the past week. Tete took care of us, he gave us some sushi that was very good. I was impressed. They are not very consistent.

Nice service, a talented sushi chef, and as a result a pretty nice sushi experience. Location on the second floor in a mall at the corner of La Cienega and Holloway Drive. Parking in the basement. My only drawback is the size of the sushi, in my opinion too big. I prefer the sushi to be on the smaller size!

Wa Sushi is one of our favorite sushi spots! They are in a small shopping center but their quality of sushi is one of the best in Los Angeles. I often see celebrities and well known movie execs here, although, the place is very unassuming. The staff is always pleasant and accommodating. There is underground free parking. Definitely try the their salt and lemon salmon sashimi! One of my favs! They have a limited amount of tables so do call in advance for a reservation.

Food great!(or they’d have 2 stars) Waitress… eh, not so great. Will likely never come back here. The place was empty, but she woke up on the wroooong side of the bed, and was just not friendly at all. And then the service was horrid. But we went here because Rachel Ray or somebody recommended it. Well they must treat celebrities better. We ate inside and spent a pretty penny for sure. But no, will never go back.

This restaurant is amazing. They let you guide the omakase, and based on suggestions, I got one of the best meals I’ve had in Los Angeles. a sushi plate with uni flown in from Hokkaido, uni and sea bream tempura, and a main course of chilean sea bass topped with foie gras. Everything was perfect and the service was friendly and helpful. It isn’t cheap, but for what you’re getting, the omakase is actually very reasonably priced. The mushroom and crab soup was incredible as well. I will definitely be back.

Seriously one of the best spots in West Hollywood! The sushi is amazing, but my favorite dishes are the crispy rice spicy tuna and the tuna carpaccio with truffle. they are both incredible! The yellowtail with jalapeño is also great. The restaurant is on the second floor of the shopping center, it’s really small and very casual. It can be hard to get reservations sometimes but typically you’re ok!

I love love love Toru-san aka TT’s foie gras dish!!! When my husband and I found this little gem in a strip mall few years ago, this was the place for us whenever we crave for Japanese food. We has stopped coming here when foie gras was banned and I don’t know if it is just us, but when you once stopped going to the restaurant you used to go a lot, feel little hesitant going back there again?!(Sorry, Toru-san ~_~;). However, now that the ban is lifted, there is no excuse for us not going there anymore and we are absolutely glad that we did come back. It’s not an authentic Japanese Sushi place, but if you like Japanese fusion type of dishes, you would love here. Toru-san is very good at creating different types of sauces and he uses them exquisitely especially in his foie gras dish which is divine– the must try dish without a doubt!

This is a place near the top of the hill on La Cienega. I’d say this is a decent place to go to if you’ve tried lots of other good places like Hirozen, Haru, etc. I think their service is pretty good as they are super friendly. When we walked in the door, two people greeted us with a huge board of specials. They have a big selection and it’s the style of sushi that’s more dressed up with different oils and have creative concoctions. As you can see from the other reviews, truffle oil is a big thing here. And we weren’t disappointed. We really loved the uni with truffle oil. So much so that we had to order a second round of it. We went as they opened so we didn’t need a reservation but I recommend you get one because you could risk not getting in. We saw people getting turned down later through our meal and it’s in a location where it’s not easy to find another great sushi place(Yabu is the closest down on La Cienega but hard to find parking)

Going back this weekend! OMG where have I been? I seriously wanted to say screw the chopsticks and give me your biggest spoon cuz that squid was the bomb!!! I inhaled it, as proper as a lady could… In public, but really I wanted to have a moment alone with that sushi. All manners aside give me some more! I will give you more deets after this weekend, I blacked out after the octopus. Everything in this place is so dang good!!! Just know you can totally expect freshness and an explosion of flavor with every bite. Treat yourself! Super quick update: 1. Make a reservation! 2. Try the Dynamite Clam, it’s 3. Octopus Ceviche 4. Be patient, it’s totally worth it.
