The only guys that could fix my 1990 dodge van after 2 other mechanics and 2 dodge dealerships could not. I actually found them an interesting way. After driving it into the dodge dealer down the street to fix an electrical problem, they called me the next 2 days later and said they could not fix it and asked me to come get it! When I arrived it would not start at all after I drove it in! I called a tow truck that after a long argument I made them pay for. The tow truck took it to the nearest mechanic up the street (Underground) where Carlos said confidently to not worry. Early the next day it was working and never had the problem again. I take all 3 of my vehicles there now and always great. Hint: arrive early with some donuts :-) Love these guys.

I recently experienced brake failure while on a road trip, passing through LA. I was nervous about seeing a shop in a town I didn’t know, but Underground Car proved to have some incredibly competent, timely, honest, and friendly employees. Luis took care of my vehicle in just one morning, replacing my master cylinder and doing a full once-​over. At no point did he gouge me or take advantage of my lack of knowledge. He told me the various things I should be careful of on my trip, topped off my radiator, inspected my brakes, and worked with me on my limited budgetary needs. This shop is the golden standard for what all auto shops could be and I would highly recommend their services to anyone.

Luis is a very good brake mechanic. He formerly had a nearby stall. (Just Brakes) He joined forces with Carlos and the combination works well. It’s now almost bumper to bumper repair. He has serviced my cars and trucks for ten years. Not unusual for Luis to pop the hood and talk car with you. Carlos is a certified mechanic from El Salvador. He’s keen, very keen. As a favor I asked him to look at my friends sick Alfa. Other
technicians said parts were nigh impossible to find. I guess Carlos took pity on me.
He went into the bowels of his workshop to find the part. I heard a grinding noise. Where he found that part I’ll never know. I never asked.

They were right around the corner from the DMV and I had to get my new CA plates screwed on. It was the end of the day and I could tell the man in the garage was done but despite all that he agreed to screw on both my back and front plates at no charge. This may not seem like a big deal except my old plates were screwed on so tight he had to use a drill to remove them. Plus, he could have easily said no with all the work load he had. It’s nice to see people still take the time to take care of others. Thank you Underground Car for having such great customer service!

These guys are great! They are boy scout honest. They repaired my air conditioner and when the work was done, it was less than estimated because they didn’t have to replace one of the components. They easily could have charged me and I never would have known.
Sent a friend here who paid $ 1,200 for work that BMW quoted her $ 2,100 for on her Mini. Another friend went in with a nasty squeak and they tightened the alternator. NO CHARGE!
Trust them.

I got referred to these guys with my problematic car… I now refer them to everyone! Luis is awesome! They are nice, and best of all they are honest and do good work. I had an awful car with so many problems, once the brakes went and I took it to pep boys who quoted me way too much, these guys fixed the whole system for much less and did an awesome job! They can do anything, they fixed my crappy old Thunderbird so many times (honestly, everything would go wrong). I ended up buying a Volvo they had for sale too. They are also quick! It is hard to find a mechanic you trust, but these guys have earned mine. Thanks guys!

I accidentally stumbled upon this place. I was going to another local auto place and they were not sure about a problem, so I took it here because they specialize in jeeps. I dropped it off and within the hour they gave me the rundown of the issues and at such a fair price too! They fixed it in a day and not only that they laid on the special touches, my shifter handle was loose on my car and when I got in it this afternoon I was surprised to see that it was completely fixed! They just fixed it because it was broken, how great is that? What a great surprise, but seriously I get a good feeling from these guys, they seem to be very honest.

Amazing, capable and honest to a fault. I was referred to Luis when he owned a small shop around the cornet «Just Brakes.» His honesty, great work and competitive prices made me a lifelong customer. Now, 10 years later, when he opened this new incarnation which also does complete car service, I drive 25 miles just to take all three of our cars there because I totally trust him and his work. In a world where we too often fall victim to unscrupulous service people, I’d put Luis and Underground Car in a league of their own. I’ve never had to second guess him or his prices. Over the years I’ve recommended others to him and, without fail, each of them has become lifelong customers like myself. As a matter of fact, I’m headed over there today.

i’ve taken my car to Luis & Carlos for at least a year now, on and off. For oil changes, brake work and windshield wipers. They are always courteous, helpful and seem like all around good guys. They’ve always gone above and beyond for no pay (the first time i went to them, my side mirror had been clipped off by some dude in a parking lot, and Luis fixed it completely free in like 2 minutes). Anyway, I trust these guys with my vehicle and would recommend them to anyone!

Tiny independent mechanic… on the best days, there are only two mechanics working. So it can be awhile before your car is done… read days, not hours! But overall, he seemed knowledgeable and honest. Still, who can go without a car for almost a week for something simple?
