I had a great experience with the insurance mom. I talked to a number of people there including Alison and everyone was so nice and helpful. I ended up dealing with Sarah and she is FANTASTIC. On our first call she spent about an hour with me going over all sorts of different options for myself and my family. She checked on everything from doctors to prescriptions and what the coverage was. On our second convo (once I figured out what insurance I was going to go with) she remembered EVERYTHING we had talked about (which was complicated as my husband and I were going on one plan and my daughter on another) and what I wanted. She really took the time to make sure I was happy and had everything I was looking for. Sarah has responded to all my emails right away and helped me with all sorts of stuff from getting insurance cards to setting up auto bill pay. If I could do it over again I would go with this company every time. When you are dealing with something like insurance you really want someone who is knowledgeable and friendly helping you navigate the different plans. I will be getting my insurance every year with the help of the insurance mom. I’m so glad that I found them.

Alison is like a Midwestern/​Southern mama. Mamas like her are going to tell you what to do. They are sweet as can be, but they’re strong, will tell you what they think and they are typically right because they are aware and wise. She certainly made it easy for me to quickly get the insurance I needed, at a ¹⁄₃ of the cost my COBRA offer was going to cost me. I also believe her when she says she has a network of doctors. This is the kind of woman who would talk with anyone and everyone… because she genuinely enjoys people. It’s just how Midwestern/​Southern mamas are.

if i could give 6 stars, I would. I was in Obama-​care hell, where my insurance was mistakenly cancelled for non-​payment. I needed some sort of insurance in the event of an emergency, and Alison came to the rescue. She was so helpful and got me set up within minutes. Cannot recommend her enough.

Thank goodness for Alison! I’ve been in a nightmare for months trying to get Medi-​cal to cancel my benefits because I no longer qualify. Alison was a champion and helped me get coverage through Anthem Blue Cross even though Medi-​cal was so disorganized in getting me the correct/​accurate paperwork. I got all my healthcare information in the mail a few days ago and almost cried because because of the hell I went through before Alison rescued me. Alison is great, she is quick to answer questions and help you out of a sticky situation. She managed to help my family of four get our policy reinstated after it seemed like an impossibility. With the way the Affordable Care Act set up, we were screwed, but she solved it and was so nice and patient to answer all of our questions, and we had many. After going through an absolute nightmare and swimming in hospital bills from our last insurance company which covered nothing because I didnt understand what the heck I was signing up for, I finally reached out and called Allison the Insurance Mom for help. She set up a conference call and gotomeeting and had spreadsheets to show us all of our different options, what the monthly and annual costs would be for each as well as a best case vs worst case scenario cost. After I became a client, she has helped me navigate some confusing billing and coverage issues, protecting me against mistakes that doctors’ offices and insurance providers made — with no additional fees. She and her staff are completely organized and reliable, they call when they say they will, they do what they say they will, they act very promptly. Gotta tell you, didn’t give much thought to health insurance in the past. I just held my nose, re-​upped and stayed out of the doctors office.
Then this Obamacare nightmare happened. My (Blue Shield) plan was grandfathered in. But I really thought Obamacare was for people who could not afford health insurance — not for guys like me who already had insurance. Then a company called «Patriot Health Care» in Tennessee called. Said they were giving a group rate to contractors like myself and could save me a lot of money on my health insurance. I signed up for it… but did not realize this new plan was not major medical. Patriot Health informed me of this 6 months later. I was beside myself. «I HAD A MAJOR MEDICAL PLAN» I explained to these crooks.
So now I was screwed. Then a customer told me about «The Insurance Mom». I sought her out. She walked me through my options and I chose a plan. Very easy, I really liked that she did this during a phone call where I was sitting in front of my laptop.
And of course when the paperless bill (I signed up for) never got to me, Someone at the Insurance Mom sent me an email. Going forward I’m getting emails with helpful tips on what to do with specific things on my plan I might not be aware of.
At the end of the story, I now pay double (due to my own ignorance) for health insurance but am very happy with the personal service the Insurance Mom provides. Add me to the (long) list of people who are thankful we ran into her!

I can’t thank Alison enough for helping me through the insurance conundrum. She was patient with my repeated questions. Like taxes, insurance is a swirling black vortex. But Alison was able to break down the numbers for me and even secure me a refund when I discovered that my cobra had kicked in and I was double insured. Thanks Alison. Having just moved to La from NY, I attempted to research private individual health insurance on my own, expecting a lot of red tape and time before I could get something. Indeed, after talking to 2 companies, (including one that I DID get insurance with after I called the insurance mom!), I encountered problems that both companies couldn’t help resolve.
So I looked on Unilocal,saw many great reviews for The Insurance Mom and called Alison. She got back to me very promptly, talked to me about my needs and set up a phone appointment to pick out and sign up for a health insurance plan. In 20 min on the phone and online at the same time, it was done! Less than a week later she emailed me my new ID number!
I highly recommend using her services! (The only thing was that I am not too computer literate and need my son in law’s help with the online aspects…)

Alison made took the anxiety and confusion away from having to choose. She asked me the right questions and simplified it for me and couldn’t be any happier. :)

I had a wonderful experience navigating a complicated process with Alison.
My existing insurance provider was not offering their plan for 2016 so I got a proactive notice from Alison letting me know that this was the case and that she would be monitoring the situation for me. When the new plans became available she emailed me her recommendation for what we should do.
Afterwards when my family’s doctors didn’t take the new plan she let me know what my other options were. I was super confused at how to choose between these options so I email her on Friday asking for help.
So here’s where she goes above and beyond. She calls me the next day on a Saturday offering to help walk me through it and then emails me with additional clarification and answers. THEN she sits on the phone with me and helps fill out the application for my family! Amazing service above and beyond what I would expect. I highly recommend her services.

I thought about this long and hard before leaving this review.
The stellar Unilocal reviews first drew me to Alison a year ago. Contrary to the many reviews, I did not find her to be personable, but instead came across as being arrogant and really was not all that patient in her demeanor. But I let it go and enrolled with her. The insurance company I enrolled in, turned out to be a nightmare, not her fault, but I did complain via email to her and never got any response. I figured, she really didn’t care.
So here we are in the new enrollment period for the upcoming 2016 plan year. Got an email with her proposed plan. We emailed back and forth, but I was really unimpressed with her answers. Had to repeat the same question. Got answers back that really didn’t speak to the question posed. And no, I did not bother to get on the phone with her after that.
Rather I took it as a cue to work with another agent.
I stand by my review, because quite frankly, my experience with her has been consistent all along.
UPDATE: She replied to my review and claims that I left her a good review for ¹¹⁄₂₀₁₃. WRONG! I never left her a review back then. And I stand by my first and current review on her even more now. As to her current excuse about not having enough time to spend with clients because of OBAMACARE. Not sure what that has to do with her business since she told me she wasn’t taking Obamacare clients (last year 2015 anyways). Sure it may be true that she gets less commission BUT there is NO EXCUSE for sub par performance. Her failure to respond to a concern I expressed as described in the first part of my review occurred way after enrollment period was over about problems I was having with the insurance company.
