We’ve been patients of Dr. Segovia, and his staff, for 20 years. I couldn’t imagine going to another dentist. Cesar is very careful to make sure you are comfortable.

Highly recommended if you have dental anxiety. I have panic disorder and dentists freak me out. Anything teeth related really. I came to Dr. Segovia on the recommendation of a friend before I had PPO and with a bad tooth infection, and he was just like a big teddy bear. I switched my coverage and have had hours of deep cleaning (that’s what happens when you don’t go the dentist for awhile) and some fillings with minimal anxiety. Ask the front how they can help your anxiety. ;)
The only thing that happened is that the hygienist giving me my deep cleaning forgot to tell me she was doing something on me my insurance didn’t cover but the front desk seemed sympathetic and said they’d work with me on paying it back. This hygienist basically had to chisel the statue of David off my teeth so I wasn’t going to argue. I felt bad for her. A lot of these reviews bemoan the billing process but I’ve never gone to a dentist or doctor who was willing to work with me or seemed understanding that insurance basically sucks sometimes. If you are getting something done, the front desk will help you do your due diligence to see exactly how much you would owe. It just takes them a few weeks so if you aren’t in a rush you should always do that. I learned that after my situation with the hygienist but I’ve often had billing qualms with other places before and Dr. Segovia’s office was the first to offer that service to me.
Parking is expensive though. Get someone else to drive you and pick you up if you’re there longer than an hour.

This guy is nice and schmoozy and probably gets the job done, if… you have that upscale I-​live-​in-​Beverly-​Hills and survive-​off-​black-​market-​thuggish-​income-​of-​my-​Persian husband-​type insurance.
Otherwise, if you’ve got ordinary insurance, stay away from this ugly overweight hustler gloaming over the Sunset Strip. In treating me he had scammed me to my face in utter shamelessness. After I had been x-​rayed and cleaned, I was sitting in the patient’s chair with dental assistant at my side whispering soothing sweet-​nothings, and then received his confirmation that I would require a large-​than-​average filling, that the situation was dire, I could and should not wait for a second opinion, and would have to quietly succumb to his beguilement.
I though all right, maybe the filling is in dire need, but what would be the cost? I explicitly asked him to have the front desk to run an estimate before I agreed to the procedure. Dr. Segovia relayed a figure of $ 400, claiming it would be entirely covered by the insurance. It turns out that on the cost of the procedure and its effectiveness, I was flat out lied to in a sweet-​smiled way by Dr. Segovia directly. Two and half years later, I am still paying monthly installments on a figure well over $ 2000 of which the insurance covered a minor percentage. Best of all, the filling needed to revised by another dentist, to whom I switched to immediately after being deceived by this fat turd. So the place scams and its services are unreliable.
Always get an estimate in writing and signed before doing any procedures with a place!

Was referred to Dr. Segovia by my Endodontists (Brothers) Drs. Rami & Hiri Etessami who have performed several root canals for me over the last 15 years. (By the way, if you need a root canal, Dr. Rami is the best. He did two teeth at one appointment for me, which other Endo’s would only do one at a time, requiring two separate appointments. No pain either! He is rather pricey but if you get another couple of estimates/​quotes and let them know, they should come down more on price, making it well worth their skills and expertise. They also happen to be in the same building as Dr. Segovia.)
Back to Dr. Segovia! I have been to many types of Dentists over the years due to various insurance plans, living in different areas etc., which doesn’t make me an expert but I think I am a pretty good judge by now?
So after being referred to Dr. Segovia by Dr. Etessami, who said he highly recommend him for his skills, expertise, trust level as well as being reasonable and not exorbitant on prices, it sounded like exactly what I was looking for. I believe these two dentists also know each other through their time training other new dentists at USC school of dentistry as they are considered the best in their fields.
Dr. Segovia is very friendly, easy going and a pleasure to be around. He doesn’t push or sell things to you that you don’t need to increase the charges and work plan as other dentists often do. He sometimes surprises you with discounts for paying in full that same day, paying cash, not charging for some x-​Rays and even gives you gifts like custom professional teeth whitening kits. It seems he wants you to look and feel good as well as being a positive reflection of his skills and dental practice.
He saved a molar of mine by building it up and making a crown for it. This molar was recommended by another dentist to need a root extraction and implant which would be very costly and invasive. He has done several other crowns for me and will be doing some cosmetic repairs as well. He could have just said «lets do veneers» like many other dentists say but he knew it wasn’t necessary and that he can make them look great with his skills and at much less cost and with a much less invasive technique.
You won’t be disappointed with Dr. Segovia. You’ll be very happy and even enjoy your visits! Wish I found him sooner ;)

Cesar is the best! I actually love going to the dentist. Who has ever said that?! His bed side manner is the best. He is patient and walks you through the procedure so you feel comfortable and part of the whole process. He’s awesome. And If you book an appt on Monday he will be wearing a bow tie!

Dr. Segovia is the best.

Dr. Segovia is absolutely amazing! One of the nicest dentists I’ve ever met and so accommodating. I think the first time I ever saw him was when I chipped some bonding on my front tooth and needed it fixed, and he scheduled me immediately. After that he instantly became my Dentist! Since then, I know I can always count on him not only for my cleanings, but emergencies as well.
Last night I chipped another tooth on a fork while eating a salad, and being a Friday night at 9pm I thought I had no choice but to deal with it until Monday. I left a message for Dr. Segovia and by Saturday morning he had returned my call and offered to come in and fix me up! He was my savior today! I had a huge brunch planned for my friends birthday and couldn’t bare the thought of seeing everyone with half a tooth missing! Dr. Segovia had my tooth fixed and sent me on my way in no time!
I highly recommend Dr. Segovia and all of his staff! Thank you for taking such great care of me!

Great service from Dr. Segovia. However, beware of the «bills» you will get after your simple cleaning procedure (s). Even with the best insurance, I was still receiving bills with large amounts. Overall great professional dentist. =)

I was referred to Dr. Segovia by my sister because she mentioned that she’s had nothing but great experiences at Dr. Cesar’s office. His staff is friendly, the dental hygienist was accommodating, knowledgable and Dr. Segovia was just a sweetheart!

Going to Dr. Segovia is like going to the spa. I’m relaxed, the whole team asks me «how I’m feeling» in soft relaxing voices, I listen to smooth music, and I just lay there in peace and let them do their jobs. Cesar is wonderful and also continuously tells me what a «good job» I’m doing while I sit there… I literally sit there for an hour and listen to positive confirmation that I am awesome… mixed with sounds of drills of course. Total-​peace. He’s great at his work, and is such a people person. And his team is wonderful as well. After 4 years I finally had to write a review…

Literally the best dentist I’ve ever been too. Just started going this week to get some work done. Not only was the price ¹⁄₅^th of what my other dentist wanted but they were able to start all the work right after the consultation, and schedule me in 2 more times this week. He has already done great work on giving my teeth and gums the look I want, and even when I came in today with no appointment not sure if I was content with how my gums looked. He took me right back and did additional work at no cost to make sure I was 100% satisfied with me teeth. I don’t have much in the way of money and I’m still able to get a lot done by going into this office. Some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.

I had a mild toothache. My friend referred me to Dr Segovia. This is an account of what happened, fact by fact, step by step:
I go into the room and sit down, two seconds later the nurse comes to get me for an x-​ray.
So I’m like «What x-​ray? The dentist hasn’t looked in my mouth yet.»
So she goes to get Segovia, and he comes barreling in asking me what the problem is.
So I tell him, «They were pushing me into an X-​ray, and you didn’t even look at my mouth yet at all. Maybe at least take a look at my tooth first for one second, before hastily throwing me into radiation?»
He rips off my paper bib, escorts me out of his office, and slams the door.

It’s a scary feeling when you’ve paid over $ 5000 to a dentist for veneers, only to be banned from his office when they start falling apart only a year and a half later.
It all started when I was referred to Dr. Segovia by a friend around 2004. Initially I would see Dr. Segovia for fillings and routine cleanings. In 2009 I decided to get veneers, naturally I went with Dr. Segovia who at this point had been my regular dentist for 5 years.
Dr. Segovia did a wonderful job installing the veneers in my mouth, and I was assured that the veneers would last at least ten years and that I would be able to return to him if there were any issue.
Around the middle of 2010, the first veneer broke. I went in to see Dr. Segovia expecting him to stand by his word. He replaced the veneer and I was surprised to receive a bill for $ 1500, which I paid promptly.
Towards the end of 2011 I returned to see Dr. Segovia for other dental work. Since we knew each other personally, I told him of my recent financial hardship, Dr. Segovia told me to bring $ 1000 in cash and he would take care of me. I did bring the cash, and he did $ 1200 worth of work for $ 1000. If you disregard this review and choose to go to Dr. Segovia, be sure to inquire about the cash discount.
Before I left the office, Dr. Segovia’s staff validated my parking with a series of stamps, but when I attempted to leave, the parking attendant told me that I owed $ 7. I was in a rush to leave on this particular day, late for an important appointment, I knew that I was not responsible for the validated parking and I refused to pay. The parking lot attendant and I had a standoff, and he took down my license number before letting me go.
Three months later I received a letter from Segovia asking me who my new dentist was, and where to send my records; thus informing me of our severed relationship. This letter arrived just before my 2^nd veneer broke, leaving me scrambling to find a new dentist to fix my busted mouth. I eventually got it done in Mexico, where I was kindly received and professionally treated by the dental staff.
Just days ago, my third original veneer from Dr. Segovia broke. I have to talk with my hand over my mouth, and am trying to find time to go South of the Border to get this one fixed now.

Dr. Segovia is THE best. If you have no insurance the price for a cleaning is great. The staff is above and beyond. They give you burberry blankets if youre cold, cold or «room temperature» waters and theyre so sweet and all about making you comfortable. They let you keep your honey company while they get a cleaning if you want, and Dr. Segovia is hilarious– no laughing gas needed!

After 11 years at Dr. Segovia’s practice, I still love him. Everyone there is professional and caring. Dr. Segovia is an amazing dentist and person.

This is my previous review from 2008:
I had just moved back to L.A. from Minnesota, over 10 years ago, and I needed a new dentist. I went to what was supposed to be a «New Age» clinic. It was a horrible experience, and they wanted to do a «deep cleaning» (i.e., use sedation and go deep beneath the gum) on my entire mouth. I called the A.D.A. and they told me this was not standard procedure. I didn’t go back.
Instead, I checked with a new friend and went to Dr. Segovia. Instead of a clinic with open rows of chairs, Dr. Segovia had a small office with individual chairs in separate, clean, rooms.
Dr. Segovia was friendly, knowledgeable, and told me I didn’t need any of the garbage that was suggested. Since that time his has been my only dentist. He makes sure there is no pain. He removed all of my amalgam (mercury-​loaded) fillings and replaced them with natural-​looking, mercury-​free ones. I look like I never had any fillings at all. He also watched over me for teeth bleaching resulting in my teeth being blindingly white. I love it.
I’ve always gone to dentists, but this is the first time I actually look forward to dental care. Everyone in the office is friendly. They look after your needs and are very careful. Their prices are fair. Parking is difficult on the street, and parking in the building is unreasonably expensive. However it is worth it for his excellent care.

Now, five years later, after regular visits and a repair on a broken crown from 20 years ago, I have more to add.
Not only is Dr. Segovia a great dentist, his staff is also simply superior. Everything focuses on the patient and making him or her comfortable and without pain. They are joyful and funny, yet serious and professional in their work.
My wife of two years is terrified of dentists. I’ve encouraged her to go and she is finally going in next week.
I wish you could see my teeth. For those who don’t know, aging, broken, yellow teeth make you look older. Straight, evenly-​proportioned white (but not fake-​looking) teeth make you look younger. I think mine are great!
No, I am NOT paid nor a shill. Yes, I have insurance but I still pay for a large percentage of my dental care. When I first started going to Dr. Segovia I worked two blocks from his office. Now i’m 25 miles away and it can take me an hour or more driving each way to get to his office. I know there are lots of dentists who are closer to me. They may be very good. They may be cheaper. But I’m sticking with Dr. Segovia.
Even more highly recommended.

My bf sees a dentist at Dr. Segovia’s office (can’t remember his name but he seems to be Southeast Asian). My bf’s teeth are in poor condition and he is a ginger (they are more sensitive to tooth pain, check it out on google) so he has avoided seeing the dentist for a while. While their office is definitely expensive (arguably what dentist isn’t), the entire staff take great care with their work.
My bf got a root canal done and experienced 0 pain during the procedure. I can’t tell you how important this is as the fear of dental pain has kept my bf from going in the past. While he experienced some dental pain after the procedure, he was given a prescription to help mitigate the pain. Now he has to remind me to make an appt for him when I used to be the one pushing him to see the dentist! Much less fear and apprehension.
If I ever need serious work done and can afford it, I will be coming here. The reception is friendly and check in on you to make sure you’re entertained and provide free water bottles. I’ve heard of other people getting chocolate but I’ve had no luck yet.

Dr. Segovia is the best dentist ever, and all around just a really caring person. Before I found Dr. Segovia, I hadn’t been to the dentist in 4 years, so I was very scared and anxious about what he would find, and how badly I would get lectured about how over due I was.
His staff couldn’t have been nicer, they never made me feel bad about being over due, they said it was great that I was there and getting back on track. Dr. Segovia exceeded my expectations, he was kind, gentle, smart and it was obvious how much he really cares for his patients. He asked me over and over if I was doing ok, if I needed anything, water (cold or room temp), chap stick, a blanket, etc.
I also had a broken tooth which needed an inlay to be made at a lab, problem was I was going out of the country 3 days later. Not a problem, Dr. Segovia called the lab right there and made sure my inlay could be ready in time for my trip. It was such a nice personal touch, I was really impressed. I felt like I was the only patient he had. I was 100% pleased with all the dental work he did for me.
I now look forward to my cleanings and if you are lucky, you will leave with a big piece of expensive chocolate!
If you are scared of the dentist like I was, please go see Dr. Segovia, you won’t ever fear the dentist again!

Doctor Segovia makes you feel welcome, and is very aware of how you are feeling from the time you walk into the office until the time you leave. He always initiates the visit with an offer of water (room temperature or cold) like he was inviting you into his home, and then he not only treats you with professionalism and respect, but he also spends extra time making sure you understand your treatment. Its obvious that in addition to being a great dentist, he’s also a great instructor and teacher.
