Mediterranean Village West Hollywood Apartment Homes

Everything is fantastic except for the pricing. That is literally all I have to say. It is a great place to live, both management and maintenance are very helpful and nice. The management constantly improves the property both landscape-​wise and also the roofing, rooms, windows, carpets, etc. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are nice. It’s in a great location, right off of the main West Hollywood srip of Santa Monica Blvd. It feels safe (locked gates, security guard at night), the parking is fantastic (garage, assigned space), I can’t say more great things about this place. I would recommend that anyone live here if you can afford it. Though I wish they would lower the rent, it’s tough out there in this economy.

Nice place to live and excellent location. Walking distance to Gay clubs, stores, grocery, and many restaurants. Nice pool and property is well maintained. Has workout room, laundry, grill, and club house. When grilling bring a stick lighter to the grill it doesnt have one;)

Seemed liked an okay place and I rented an apartment. 10 days before I was to move in, I got a call saying the current occupant had changed his mind and was staying. I understand now that that can happen, but did not know that then. It would have been nice if the rental agent had warned me up front that this was a risk when renting an occupied apartment.

I’m not going to disagree with the five star folks here, as most of what they say is true, but they may be paying considerably less rent than new residents (i.e. the individual who is paying 2300 for a one bedroom). If I was rent controlled and living here a long time I’d be more apt to give it 4 or 5 stars.
Let’s see now. Studios are starting at close to 1600, one bedrooms about 2000, and two bedrooms would be nearing 3000 now.
Thats a shame, because as recently as summer 2010 the studios were about 1200, the one bedrooms were about 1600, and the two bedrooms were about 2100. With those 2010 prices, this would be a much more reasonable place to live.
I get some of it. This is a nice place. It’s a pleasure to look at. Big pool with lots of landscaping and cool seating area. A koi pond in the back with chairs to relax in. A half assed fitness center (no free weights and hardly any machines, but adequete for the most basic workout). Gated secured parking and entry. Night time security guard (hit or miss — some of them have done more harm than good, but the current one is helpful). Free coffee/​tea/​cookies daily. Full time mostly accountable leasing and maintanence staff. Shit gets fixed quick here, and problems tend to be resolved.
But a family like close niche atmosphere? I think not. A contingent of residents here have lived here since the Jurassic Era and are exceedingly nasty. They’ve lived here since the 80s, 70s, even in one case the 60s. And while they’re not all bad, most are rude, nosy, bored, and two faced. They have nothing better to do than sit by the pool all day, enjoying their retirement in a severely rent controlled apartment by harassing, belittling, and playing games with the newer residents. I mean seriously — be grateful you pay next to nothing for prime location and amenities. I’m sorry life never worked out to where you own your own home, but this isn’t exactly bad now is it? That’s no excuse for butting into my personal life and harassing me and accusing me of things. Some people here pay less than I do for a studio for a two bedroom because they’re rent controlled.
The nasty old folks aside, most residents either keep to themselves or are pretty neighborly (didn’t exactly say friendly).
Location is great but here’s the deal, there’s other apartments on Palm and Larrabee that are much cheaper. The only thing is, Palm and Larrabee are notorious for ugly, rundown, parasite infested apartments, so while Med Village is the standard in most decent parts of LA, it stands out as super nice for Palm and Larrabee. That’s another reason they can charge insane rent here.
The actual apartments — they’re pretty decent. Especially the remodeled ones. But look, you’ll pay 1650 for a studio with fake hardwood, fake granite, and 20^th century appliances. I live in an apartment that I moved in to recently that has cabinetry since the 1960s. So I don’t think anything inside the aparmtents really stands out.
Is it worth it? If you can afford it and really want to live on Palm and Larrabee, then do it. But you can get better deals in West Hollywood or city of LA adjacent (just not Palm or Larrabee) with the same amenities — and maybe less psychotic nosy geriatrics.

I just moved in last week from Michigan. This apartment was beyond what I expected. First of all, this is a very nice and safe gated community where everyone is super nice and says hello to you all the time. And the security guard is very polite and sweet. And the office staff– Lewis and Tamara– have been amazing helping me secure this apartment from the other side of the country.
The apartment itself is beautiful, spacious, and very clean. There were a few glitches like the garbage disposal being broken and a sink not draining properly, but Lewis was able to send in a maintenance man the day we told him of these problems. This apartment complex also has a nice, clean pool, a beautiful workout room, and a cute little pond right outside our patio!
I would give it a 5 star but I’m paying $ 2300 for a 1 bedroom and I don’t get service in the apartment… Very overpriced but worth it for me. The location could not get any better.

I’ve lived here over a year. Maybe it’s been 2 now and I enjoy it. The tropical feel, the city vibe outside and the cast of humorous characters, the neighbors, are nice. The upgrades from the laundry rooms to the gym and pool furniture are great. The Med has the nicest staff on the planet. Yeah, the security guards are unique. But there’s not much to guard. I overlook the pool and the biggest outlaw activity is people enjoying a night by the pool after the pool curfew.
Somebody wrote about all the old people that live here. Ha! There are some old, young, middle aged, men, woman, straight, gay, singles, couples and plenty of pets. Not sure about their ages, sex or preference.
I have no plans to move and that’s not because it’s rent controlled.
I would have given 5 stars but the «heated pool» should only be considered heated if we were surrounded by frozen tundra. :)

not pleased. The place is basically a college dorm. No noise allowed after 10pm. There is a hall monitor that goes around the hallways and if there is noise they knock and tell you to be quiet. Packages are left at the doors and stolen. Management takes no responsibility. Overpriced for what they give you

This place is beautiful and centrally located but wow, when I was there the management was the worst. They had zero integrity, cheated, lied in court, and were just awful people.
I wonder if they were born into a family of thieves or if they became scoundrels without coaching from their parents. All I know is when you treat people badly, that shit comes back to you again and again until you learn to be less selfish.
If I were you, I’d find a different apartment and avoid bad characters.
