Matthew G is FANTASTIC! I was thrilled when I found Matthew with great luck! I needed a special Goldwell Color combination. My previous stylist no longer used Goldwell and could not get the color to my liking. When I found Matthew I hit Gold! Goldwell and Matthew are Golden. He’s a great artist, personable, fun to talk too. Plus, so ridiculously convenient to get too! Parking Validation tons of parking spaces too. I’m an actress and I need to look my best always! He came into work ON a Sunday to get my hair ready for a long work week on Silcon Valley! I don’t know anyone who would do that? I’m so grateful to Matthew G! His studio is clean and beautiful with great music selections too. Overall, I leave feeling really taken care of and my hair is EXACTLY the color I wanted! You can’t ask for better! I highly recommend his work for film and t. v production sets and going into his beautiful studio. Thanks so much Matthew G!

I found Matthew through a recommendation and I hit the jackpot! I went to him originally for hair styling for my wedding day. He listened to my ideas and asked to see pictures of my dress and asked about colors and styles. We had a trial day and I absolutely fell in love with his humor, friendliness, but most of all TALENT! He is incredibly versatile and highly adaptable. Matthew is effective at not only re-​creating classic styles impeccably, but is also highly innovative and fashion-​forward. I received compliments on my hair from everyone on my wedding day. I then returned to him for a cut and highlight, both of which I adore! He was able to make my hair look fuller and richer, and it has maintained its shape. Additionally, the color is perfect! I look ten years younger. I can’t believe my luck in finding Matthew! He’s the best hairdresser in town, no question.

Matthew is the best hair colorist and stylist in LA hands down! It’s hard to find people you trust no matter what when it comes to your hair and Matthew never disappoints. Not only is he immensely knowledgable and passionate about fashion and hair, but he’s hilarious, kind, punctual, and professional. He even takes the time and energy to show you exactly how to style and care for your hair at home. He makes the whole experience of getting your hair done a total treat and pleasure. The quality of service you receive is top notch and affordable, especially compared to other Salons in the area. Nothing but 5 stars! I’d give 10 if I could!

I have to say this drive was worth it. I drove from palm springs all the way to get my hair done by Matthew g hair. what a remarkable outstanding hairdresser he is. I have been seeing Matthew for years and I recommend him as a stylist without reservation. Through think and thin, short, long, blonde and Raven, he designs beautiful looks for my hair. I always leave feeling great. Be prepared, the only issue with seeing Matthew is the congestion on Sunset Boulevard. Turn South on Laurel to enter the parking lot with minimal frustration.

Matthew is 100% the best and most talented hair person on the planet. He came recommended to me by a friend, who’s been going to him for over 12 years. And now I see what all the hype was about.
Matthew is a true expert — he knows exactly what kind of cut and color will flatter you. I don’t even bother requesting a certain color or cut… he just works his magic and a couple hours later, you emerge feeling like an absolute beauty.
I also hadn’t realized that I wasn’t using great products for my hair, so he recommended a certain shampoo/​conditioner… and within a week, the texture of my hair changed. Softer and shinier.
He also deserves major props for my last visit — he suggested I should try bangs, but I was nervous, after being bang-​less for 20 years. But lo and behold… every single person who’s seen my hair has said this is the best my hair has ever looked!
I am a dedicated customer for life! If/​when I get married, he will be my hair guy! Do yourself a favor and check him out!

A good friend whose hair always looks kick ass introduced me to Matthew. I had been with one person prior for over a year but he had stopped doing what I wanted and I didn’t leave the salon feeling beautiful (so important!) so I was on the hunt for someone new.
Matthew is a godsend! I’ve been to him twice now and he is everything you want your stylist to be. We discussed what I wanted, he wanted to be sure and play it safe on my first visit since it was a new relationship, and I left with the most gorgeous long layers and highlights. The second time around we did keratin and I love the outcome. It’s not the super harsh treatment (and is much more reasonably priced than I expected!) so my hair still has a little wave but its a beautiful beachy wave if it air drys as opposed to a frizzy, puffy mess. And it’s easier to straighten than before. And again — amazing highlights that my fiancée and several co-​workers commented on. And even more, Matthew is just a wonderful, cool person. I love his space and love getting to see him!

A friend of mine recommended Matthew to me and I have been to him twice. I have LOVED both the cut and color he did for me both times. He did exactly what I wanted for color and then helped me to decide on a cut that was perfect! I am so happy that I found him. He also works super fast so you don’t feel like it takes up too much time. The atmosphere is great and he is a total sweetie. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great stylist/​colorist in the West Hollywood area.

I have wavy/​curly hair and I leave most salons with a head of frizz. Matthew was totally different. The cut was meticulous and the styling was perfect. He let my hair damp-​dry and then put me under the dryer for a few minutes. The result was a perfect cut, with subtle layers to bring out the curl, and no frizz.
I also appreciated his low-​key, pleasant, and professional demeanor. He was friendly without being overbearing, and his studio was clean and well-​appointed.
Overall, a fantastic experience and I look forward to my next haircut!

Matthew is the best, hands down. I found him almost 15 years ago now and never looked back. He always gives me the best cut & color. I even used him for my wedding. I can’t think of anyone else I’d trust to do my hair. Love him!

I love Matthew G Hair salon inside Salon Republic in Hollywood. I am definitely a happy customer. Matthew does it all cuts, color and styling for Men and Women. Matthew is great with cutting and styling my hair, and also good to know, he does up do’s for special occasions. My husband also got a haircut from Matthew and appreciated how Matthew listened and gave him an even better version of what was described. (He looked great!). Matthew is really focused and works quickly, but he is also a kind and friendly person. Garage Parking is free with validation. Great location.

Matthew says December is his inventory month. All his clients from the past year show up, even if he hasn’t seen them in a LONG time. I fit the description. It’d been 6 months since my last touch up and Matthew gave me another outstanding highlighting job.
I love this guy, very candid and real — he won’t BS you. He also semi styled my hair after coloring it and that isn’t the norm at all in the industry. Usually you walk out with wet hair after coloring… And OMG his prices are super, super competitive.

Matthew G gave me an AMAZING haircut! Seriously I cannot gush enough about what a good job he did!
Before get into why, some background first: a few months ago I had an unfortunate accident while bleaching my hair (its platinum blonde and at the time was a medium length pixie cut) that resulted in my head being shaved (ala Sinead O’Connor). After about 5 months of desperate praying to the hair-​growth gods, I could not bear my overgrown mop (which was quickly morphing into a mullet) any longer and started looking for a hairdresser.
I think my mother found Matthew on Unilocal somehow, and after he gave her a faulous haircut I decided to make an appointment as well. I was apprehensive for sure — I don’t know what it is with pixie cuts but in the past, have almost never had a good experience getting it cut. You’d think with so little hair it’d be easy to cut, right? No. I always walk out of the salon looking like a soccer mom or a butch lesbian or both or… just… stupid.
Anyway, in spite of all the trauma I’ve endured at the hands of hairdressers I went out on a limb and saw Matt. He gave me the BEST HAIRCUT I HAVE EVER HAD! It is perfectly textured, lays perfectly on my head, is perfect for my hair type, never does anything weird, its AMAZING. I get SO many compliments on it — people literally stop me on the street and ask me where I got my haircut! Go to Matt, you will not regret it!

Went back to Matthew today at his new location. He did another really wonderful haircut for me (my 2^nd visit). I will be going back again and again and again :)
His new salon at 8000 Sunset Blvd. is really nice and they validate too!

Not only does he make my hair amazing, but his good energy and positive attitude is always fun to be around. He works out of a private bungalow nestled behind Fusion Salon. It is very professional, yet cozy and inviting. I always leave there feeling like a million bucks. Matthew is simply the best!
