I’ve been going to Dr. McFadden for years. Last year my mouth caught up with me and I had to spend about $ 10,000 on dental bills there. My bite and tooth appearance are much better now and he did a very good job. This despite the fact that he told me my mouth was one of the more difficult ones he had worked on due to my underbite.

My experience here was less than satisfactory. I spoke with a good friend, who has her own dentistry practice so she could shed some light on my experience before I wrote a review, here it goes:
I will write each unsatisfactory instance in sequence as it happened:
1. I called to schedule an appointment. and to find out if the doctor took my insurance. The woman was very scatter brained, but verified they took my insurance (I understand, I should have called my insurance also). I specified that I needed a cleaning and would like to schedule an appointment. The woman I spoke with asked for my previous dentist to get records and x-​rays. We ended the conversation. She called me back a minute later, to tell me to arrive at 12:45 so I can fill out paperwork before my 1:00 appointment. She then called me back a third time because she did not write my insurance down correctly.
2. I took off work (assumed 1 hours was needed) and walked over to the dentist (the main reason I chose this place.) I arrived at 12:35 and no one was there, the sign said out to lunch. I knocked on the glass but no one answered. I was 10 minutes early so I figured it was fine. 20 minutes pass, people walk in, but do not acknowledge me or remove the sign, another 20 minutes and still no one. At 1:20 they came to and called me over. I filled out paperwork and finally went back about 20 minutes later (1:40 — ish.)
3. I was greeted by a very upbeat assistant, who really knew how to talk. She told me that they needed to do X-​rays (I guess they were not able to get the previous batch or they were more than 3 years old.) She literally took maybe 30 X-​rays, very uncomfortable. I have never received this many in my life, but went with it. Again, this woman was also very scatter-​brained (theme in the office) and kept apologizing for how much she was talking.
4. the doctor came in, very nice and quiet which I like. He looked at my gums and had the assistant record numbers (for what, I am not sure because again, this was not something that was done at other dentists.) He then asked me if I wanted any cosmetic work, which I said no — my teeth are pretty great. He assured me no cavities and then left. I was a little confused because I thought I came in for a cleaning. I asked the assistant if she was the one administering the cleaning and she said that my will be done at next appointment. So at this point I was pretty annoyed because no one told me this was not a cleaning. At every other dentist I have ever been to, I did not have to go through two appointment to get a cleaning. (My friend did assure me some dentists practice this way, but that they should have let me know before scheduling the appointment.) I was also annoyed because I was almost two hours in which was a long time to take off work, and It apparently wasn’t even for a cleaning.
5. I went to the front desk to check out and schedule my next appointment while letting her know that no one said this was not a cleaning appointment like I had asked for. The second appointment was not available for almost a month — I scheduled anyways.
6. A week or so later, I received a letter in the mail from my insurance stating that this was out of network. i thought it was a mistake, I had verified with the receptionist and I have a very common insurance company. A week later, I received a bill from the dentist for 100 dollars, (mind you, my dentist appointment’s are supposed to be fully covered with no deductible.)
7. I emailed the dentist office telling them what happened and hoping they would discount or remove the charge since they told me wrong information, or that they need to cancel my following appointment. — NO RESPONSE. I receive a follow up bill a week or so later, I give them a call and tell her what happened, again asking for a discount or for them to remove the charge and that I need to cancel the second appointment if they indeed do not tak emy insurace. I told her my experience and received NO APOLOGY. She just said «ok, I will cancel your next appointment» and hung up on me. (I was pretty nice on the phone)
8. I desperately did not want to pay this charge, it seems unfair and unjust, but after receiving a threatening letter finally sent in a payment.
I will never ever return even if they did accept my insurance. I also like to give good suggestions to friends and family, and this office will not be one of those. VERY Disappointing!

Have been coming to this office since 2006 at least. Love the office, staff and both dentists. I have had checkups with both Dr McFadden and Dr Pinar. They are both awesome. Always get excellent service and the front office staff is always easy to work with. Highly recommend this office.

I was beyond happy with my experience with Dr McFadden from start to finish. The receptionist was super helpful over the phone and went above and beyond to answer all of my questions and pricing concerns. I was able to schedule an appointment the very next day!
Parking was a breeze, located right below their offices, and they take care of validation. The office was clean and bright. My wait time was minimal.
I had been quoted from a previous Dentist that I needed apox $ 3000 worth of work done. I don’t have insurance so I was beyond stressed. After Mcfaddens examination he informed me that I didn’t need any of the work done that was told to me! All I needed was a good cleaning and 1 cavity filled. He then asked me for my previous Dentist information and for my paperwork so that he could contact them and talk to them about what they were trying to pull with me.
He then cleaned my teeth personally and set up an appointment for another cleaning in 6 months as well as gave me a quote for my cavity fill.
I was in and out in a little over an hour, and only paid $ 200 for my visit. Needless to say I found my new Dentist! I highly reccommend this office professionalism, honesty and reasonable pricing.

I have been going to Dr. McFadden since 1999 when I lived within walking distance. Even though I moved across town, I will never change dentists. Drs. McFadden and Pinar have done an amazing job on my teeth (I admit hadn’t seen a dentist for several years until I started going to them).
I see them 3x a year for cleanings, and while I don’t have insurance, I find them very affordable. When a filling from another dentist crumbled after decades (these things happen) they saw me in immediately and saved the tooth, again at a price that I found very reasonable. They are ethical, gentle, personable, validate parking, and have TV for patients in the chair. The staff is warm and professional, and the office is relaxing and pleasant. Plus my teeth look beautiful and are in great shape, and that’s the most important thing!

i am happy with this dentist. Dr McFadden and his office staff are very nice. I find his prices to be reasonable. The office is cozy. I feel relaxed. I was looking for a dentist just like this and thank god I found it! Its a good place. Has an easy-​going karma.

Dr. McFadden has been my dentist for about 10 years. I am fortunate to have good teeth, but rely on Dr. McFadden’s office for regular cleanings and dental exams. He has a calm and relaxed manner with patients. His hygienists are friendly and extremely gentle. I always book my appointments months in advance, and his office is great about providing timely reminders. When it has proven necessary, they have been accommodating about rescheduling. Of course, the validated parking doesn’t hurt, either. I could not imagine switching dentists.

If you’re like me, going to the dentist isn’t at the top of my list. However, if you have to go, and we all know we need to, then I highly recommend Dr. Jim McFadden!
From Dr. McFadden’s chair-​side manners, to his top-​drawer knowledge of all aspects of dentistry, I feel completely at ease under his care. And when I’m not seeing Dr. McFadden for a consult, filling replacement, etc. his hygenists are kind, gentle, and wonderful when I have my teeth cleaning.
I should also point out that parking is easy and once I arrive in his quiet and calm office, sitting in the patient chair, the view thru the huge windows of the Hollywood Hills and blue skies above are another added bonus to the relaxation of it all.
From a budget standpoint, I have never been told I need a procedure, cleaning, nothing just to add additional revenue to their coffers. Dr. McFadden’s office works closely with me and my budget at all levels.
Overall, this is a dental practice I am happy to support and have done so for almost 10 years!

Great staff, nice place, but GET OUT YOUR WALLET! They recommended 4 cleanings a year, and two dentists since have said it was completely unnecessary. I have a common dental plan, but ALWAYS got bills in addition to the $ 80-​$ 90 I paid every visit. I felt like I was helping pay their high rent!!!

I went here for years but unfortunately choose to go else where. The front desk staff was always very frustrating to me. I was happy with my hygienist and only saw the doctor a few times over the years. He was fine with me… but he was cross with his staff which made me uncomfortable, so I moved on. The offices are clean and well kept. Lots of street parking.
