Specialties

We are open 7 days a week and most evenings so we can be accessible to our patients. We also see adolescents from ages 16 and above. We accept all major insurances for adult patients and are affordable if the patient is self-​pay. We have 4 locations throughout Southern California. We also provide telepsychiatry service for patients who are self-​pay and are in remote regions of California.

As experienced psychiatric providers, we treat various conditions including anxiety (GAD), depression (MDD), OCD, ADD & ADHD, PTSD, phobias, relationship issues, addiction and substance abuse (Opioid Dependence, Alcohol Dependence, Meth Addiction).

If medication is needed, we’ll use it. If one’s goal is to be medication free, we’ll work together toward it, at a mutually agreed pace.

Insight Choices is a team of mental health providers, including psychiatrist Dr. Robert Chang, Dr Rose Nikravesh, Gerald Baltz NP, Sheena Udeshi NP, Brendan Greenaway PA-​C, Thang Nguyen NP, & Natalie Foo NP.

Together we treat ADHD/​ADD, depression, anxiety, OCD, panic attacks, opioid dependence, and various addiction issues.

We have expanded their hours to evenings and weekends. We are always looking to network with other experts in various fields to refer the best services to our patients.

I’ve been to Insight Choices for over a year. I went to see my doctor last week, and she helped me once again with my problems. I’m so grateful to her. She’s been very patient with me. I’m so glad for her help. Thank you so much.

Unfortunately, the administration of Insight Choices is mismanaged and inconsiderate of their patients. I scheduled an appointment Dec. 9 at their West LA location. I specifically repeated on the telephone that I wanted West LA. Come Dec. 18, the day of my appt., I arrived at the West LA office to a confused reception area, informing me they have no record of my appt. I call the office and I recent the lunch recording. I call again for the third time and the receptionist, Jose, is unfortunately not helpful; I am put on hold for too long and he offers no compensation for the extreme inconvenience. I had taken my lunch break for this appt. and recently suffered a family crisis. I inform Jose of this, and then he offers a phone appt. for $ 160, and my insurance cannot pay for it. The main issue is that I work in West LA and the website is not descriptive in letting patients know that only Dr. Chang mans West LA office, and that therapists «will be at the West LA office soon but I don’t know when.» That kind of response equal incompetency. Because I suffer from Complex PTSD (diagnosed by my psychiatrist in Norfolk, VA), I am triggered heavily during this phone call. I am at a loss because Dr. Golie is a wonderful therapist. However, how this office is ran is negligent. I plan on honoring my last two appts. with this office and then searching for a new psychiatrist (one who can do both medication and psychotherapy [talk therapy]). I am highly disappointed by how this office is run, since having a separate psychiatrist and therapist is not conducive to my condition. Lastly, as a Navy spouse whose partner is currently deployed, mental health is imperative. I am simply highly disappointed by how uncaring and negligent the administrative staff manages appointments and rescheduling. It only heightens the stress levels and agitation.

This is an excellent office where you feel cared for. First of all, they are open 7 days a week – you can even get weekend appointments. No waiting for weeks or even months to get in. Everyone I have seen at the office has been extremely kind – starting with Dr. Chang first and then the other practitioners. I feel safe and supported fully by this office and recommend them to all my friends. When my ESA letter had one small problem (I believe due to the fact that American Airlines staff are just nasty people) I called the office and got the amended letter within 15 minutes. Oh and they’re located on Sunset blvd with plenty of parking nearby – always a plus in LA! (Oh and I should mention that I have been a patient since 2011. Took a break while I was going to a doctor in network by my insurance, but came back because I like them so much)

This practice is awesome. My main attraction to this practice is the convenience of weekend appointments (including SUNDAY!). They are very strict with late cancellations, and no-​shows. But, they are pretty efficient. And the clinicians I’ve met with are great. I usually park on the street, and because it’s a weekend early morning, it’s easy to find parking. I definitely recommend this office.

Insight Choices takes my insurance! They have an office in West LA! At first, my experience was wonderful, but then Olga left. Then, after only one visit with Sheena (who seemed nice), I was informed that none of their current providers would be staffing the West LA office from that day forward, but they hope to fill the vacancy soon. A month later, there is still no one at the West LA office. Please, for the love of god, do not make me drive to West Hollywood!

In a stunning turn of events, I called again and got through to a receptionist & was given an appointment for the next day! they even ran my insurance and got back to me about my copay. Had a nice experience with Dr. Nikravesh & happy I gave this place another chance. She’s 5 stars.
But this is a busy office and 2 people were complaining they had to wait too long «did you forget me? I’ve been here 40 minutes and I have to go back to work soon» and «I just need my refill prescription for my usual meds! How much longer?» So that was awkward, but overall good place/​great DR.

This place is by far the worst doctors office I’ve ever had the displeasure to visit. They are consistently over an hour late for appointments, the people at the front desk are incompetent even with basic things like how much the services cost and how to process refunds. The doctors regularly cancel appointments last minute for no apparent reason, and then they try to charge you for them.
Most of the positive reviews are from people this company INCENTIVIZED with free services. Sketchy business

Because I rarely bother with reviews, when I do review things it is because the services/​event/​food etc are either outstanding or terrible. Insight Choices has been a life changer for me, I have been unable to go to other psychiatrists in Los Angeles because they want ridiculous money and many don’t want to be bothered with insurance and/​or you as their patient! When it was suggested that I try Insight Choices, I reluctantly went and was beyond surprised to find the cost affordable for my situation — I am on disability– and the staff incredibly helpful. I see Gerald Baltz 1x a month and am working with him closely on my medication needs. He listens to me, asks me pertinent questions, has a sympathetic ear, offers useful information and guidance. I am blessed to work with him! He is helping me get better !

You’ve lost my business, Insight Choices. These are my complaints JUST for today’s very irritating, completely pointless visit.
First, it is impossible to reach them on the weekend. You have to leave a message. I left two messages and sent an email today before I received a reply.
When I finally received a call back, they failed to alert me to the fact that my psychiatrist would not be there at my scheduled appointment time. So, after wasting half an hour to drive, a couple of dollars to park, and a 20 minute wait in the waiting room, I am leaving without having addressed the reason for my visit because I don’t want to have to explain my entire history to a new doctor. This would be the third time they give me a new doctor!
But wait, it gets better! The guy at the front desk doesn’t know how to give me a refund, so I have to waste MORE of my time calling tomorrow to get someone who DOES know how to process a refund!
Why didn’t I just stay and talk to the new doctor so I could get what I needed out of it? Because it never should have been an issue and this place has pissed me off from the beginning.
After being given three different doctors in four visits, among other annoying stuff, I truly loathe this place and will definitely NOT be returning.

This is solely due to the receptionist and secretary. I don’t write reviews but here it goes.
I have contacted Dr. Chang’s office since last Thursday to get my prescription authorized. It is now 7÷27÷15. I called Dr. Changs office at least 3 times today and the last following days. The receptionist kept on telling me that the pharmacy did not send the pre-​authorization, however, to make sure I drove and saw the the pharmacist 3 times to make sure it was sent. Personally, I told the pharmacist to call doctor Chang’s office. The pharmacist spoke to the receptionist and said it would be done… It hasn’t been. Medications needs to be taken consistently or else it is not effective. What is going on? I am so disappointed by how the receptionist responded to my pharmacist and I. I feel like I have been neglected. I have been your client for the past three years Doctor Chang…

I really like this place. My first appointment was with Sheena and she was absolutely wonderful, I highly recommend her to everyone! She is a very kind, genuine person and a great listener. Overall this is a really great place, convenient parking, appointments are on time and there is never a long wait after checking in etc They have a few locations, I really like their office in west LA and all the staff are super friendly!

I cannot recommend this place highly enough, particularly Jay — who conducted my first evaluation — and Kevin, the therapist treating me. And Sarah in reception was very courteous as well, always greeting me with a smile.
I was initially reluctant to start therapy, not because of any «stigma» associated with getting treatment, but because I’d always heard it was difficult to find a good «fit» in a therapist. I had some issues to work through, and frankly didn’t know what sort of options I had available. Very frustrated. Over the course of four weekly sessions, Kevin not only helped me to create my own options, but offered much hope and encouragement towards defining and realizing my goals. I’m very excited about my prospects for the future, and I’m certain I would not have been able to say that just a month or two ago. Many thanks, Kevin!

Dr. Chang is amazing. He listened to my concerns and advised me on how to control my feelings of anxiety and insomnia. I felt very calm and safe in our session and never felt rushed. Good first impression. I will continue on seeing Dr. Chang and I will recommend him in the future.

Very happy with my doctor here. Soooo happy that they opened a location in West Hollywood. The wait is usually short, and the doctor is always friendly and helpful. I fell very comfortable with him and you can tell he really cares about his patients.
The parking is usually pretty easy, there’s metered parking right out front. I’ve been going here for about 6 months now and couldn’t be happier:)

This review is for the administrative/​scheduling staff ONLY. I emailed Insight Choices to find out if they’re taking new patients and schedule an appointment for my husband. Their email responses read like canned boilerplate. I didn’t feel like I was talking to a real person. Nevertheless, I booked an appointment (or so I thought) via email. When I called a few days later to give the office my credit card info, they told me there was no appointment on their books. OK, mistakes happen, so I let it slide.
I made another appointment – and my husband had to wait another two weeks to see someone. I was told they would send an email confirmation and call or email an appointment reminder. Neither of those things happened. On the day of his appointment, he called to see if they had any openings later in the day due to a work conflict. He was told that 2:00 was available, so he asked to reschedule to 2:00 and told the woman on the phone that he’d call back if that time didn’t work. He called back about an hour later to confirm that he would be there, and the woman had given the appointment away to someone else! At that point, we both said «forget it.»
It’s a shame because it sounds like the therapists who work here are excellent. But they’re losing new patients due to poor administrative staff. Appointments were not confirmed. No reminders were sent out. Appointments were cancelled without notice. And the phone staff was not very friendly at all.

I have been coming here for about a year now. This place is great, the professionals that work there are outstanding. They got me on the correct medication and I finally feel better!
One thing that upset me:
I had insurance and they were charging me a $ 25 copay instead of $ 15 which it should have been. I had to call my insurance company and find out what was going on. After several appointments they gave me a credit for all those times they overcharged me.
Also, same insurance company (I have great insurance, I work for BofA) had been paying them what was owed however Insight was sending me PAST DUE BILLS for like 3 GRAND! I had insurance! When I presented my verification of insurance they said that my insurance denied all their claims. They said they will take a look and get back to me within an hour. I left the office and didnt receive a call at all. Its been like 3 months now. But they stopped sending me that bill so I am assuming everything is okay? IDK lack of communication bothers me.
BUT OVERALL! This place is awesome! Great therapists! Great psychiatrists! I will be sticking with them as long as I can.
There is lots of street parking, no issue with parking at all.

I’ve been coming here for over six months and have had a good experience! The office is warm and comfortable, the staff is always very friendly and pretty helpful when you need something like dealing with insurance, speaking to your pharmacist, appointments, blah blah.
I always get alerts for my appointments, which is nice. Coffee in the waiting room. I see Dr Chang and used to see another Dr that doesn’t work here any longer. This place is pretty cut and dry. You’re not going to talk about your emotional stuff or your deeper issues in life but they are pretty thorough and quick to diagnose an issue if you have one and get you some help with it.
Dr Chang is easy to talk to, very personable and even interestingly funny sometimes. I feel comfortable telling him any issues I’m having and he’s very present and has good feedback on things.
