Specialties
The ALIGN Ballet Method specializes in teaching classical ballet to adults with no prior experience. We offer introductory to advanced workshops and classes throughout the Los Angeles area. Our introductory ALIGN 1 Workshop teaches beginners the fundamentals of a classical ballet barre in six classes. Students can move forward to our ALIGN 2 Workshop, and then attend our ALIGN 2, ALIGN 3, and Pointe Open Classes. Experienced dancers may choose their own starting point. Our friendly staff is comprised of professional ballerinas who are dedicated to supporting each dancer’s progression and will help each student master the form and technique of each movement. We also provide instructional videos online that each student may refer to. Daily Candy Los Angeles describes us by saying, «If your childhood fantasy of becoming a ballerina morphed into a full-grown obsession, the six-week adult beginner series is a dream come true.»
History
Established in 2012.
Through his experience as a professional dancer and work as a personal trainer, Michael Cornell developed The Align Ballet Method.
In the past, Michael has specialized in training adults with physical limitations as well as senior citizens. By training and teaching ballet to adults with no experience, Michael was able to gain an understanding as to how adult untrained dancers learn and understand classical ballet movement. By utilizing these observations, Michael was able to incorporate these ideas into a no-fail approach that is simple, safe, and effective for beginners known as ALIGN 1. Starting with 16 original students, The ALIGN Ballet Method has rapidly expanded to four locations, five instructors, and now offers multiple classes and workshops from introductory to advanced ballet and en pointe. The ALIGN Ballet Method has over 1,000 visits per month in the Los Angeles area and is continuing to grow throughout Southern California.
