Gino Great Pizza, may be the best in West Haven. If they only could be honest with their wait times. They always say 25 or 30 minutes, but mean one hour! Service is very bad Too bad because their Pizza is very good. That’s the only reason I gave this place four stars

One of the tasteful pizza’s in west haven. Sometimes a little burnt than other times, but still worth checking out.

Mikes is a local joint run by family and a great place for thin crust pizza. We order the clams casino regularly and have never been disappointed. We usually eat in the bar area to enjoy local bantor and sports on the giant screens. We have the sausage with rabe as appetizer and at times as a meal it is always delicious. The pizza sauce is fresh and flavorful. Not too cheesy. Plenty of toppings. This is one of our favorite pizza joints. Most residents in the area know of Mikes and are regulars like us.

If you care about the environment your pizza (or any item for that matter) was prepared in… Don’t ever go here! I watched from the bar as the bartender prepared bread for a table in the kitchen while SMOKING A CIGARETTE! She had it hanging out of her mouth, took a couple drags, put it back in her mouth and continued to prepare the bread WITHOUT GLOVES ON! I have been in the food industry for 15+ years and have never seen something so disgusting! Needless to say, my husband and I will never be back. If I could give 0 stars I would. Absolutely repulsive.

We had a large Fresh tomato and a large, well done sausage and hot peppers pie (pizza). Can’t be beat. Menu is great and super reasonable. Flat out — best sauce around.
I love Zuppardis and always have, but Mikes is better up and down the menu. Friday nights are pretty busy, but otherwise you’re good with bringing a group in. Highly recommend.

I have been living on Park street for 18 years and Mike’s Apizza no matter who or what day or time the pizza is DELICIOUS and perfectly cooked. If you want well done it’s prepared, I can’t rave enough about Mikes the calzone is tremendous num num good eats #1 In my BOOK

Nice little spot. I think they have the best pizza in west haven, yes, better than Zuppardis. If you don’t believe me, try it for yourself!!!

Best Chicken Parmesan dinner ever! Their pizza is also very thin crusted and tasty. Their sauce is the only place that doesn’t give me heartburn! Love that! Only 3 stars for serving only Foxon Park (which I HATE) and small, cramped dining area with loud bar in the next room over with bartenders drinking too much.

Coming from New York I must say that this was good pizza, it may have been thin by the crust and bread was cooked to the right timing and temperature… in my 3 day stay in Connecticut I’ll definitely make one more visit here

Always my favorite always good and consistent staff is friendly and always willing to go out of there way even if it’s not on the menu

Only downside is that their pizza is sooo good that there is always a wait. I chalk it up to being a part of the price you pay for good pizza.

I cannot deny the food is good. We have eaten there a few times, pizza and the dinners were great. However the last time I was there, just a few days ago I happened to look up and saw that the ceiling fans were loaded with dirt and dust. I was so bad the dust was hanging from the fan blades over our table. I mentioned this to the waitress and her answer was «I never look up and it is not my job to clean.»
If the could care less about cleaning the front of their place I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. I will not return.

OMG great pizza, My husband and I ordered 2 large pizza’s Broccoli rabe white pie and a sausage and bacon, they were the bomb we took them home and devoured them.
Highly recommended will be back soon

You may have been to classic pizza joints, but if you’ve never been to Mike’s you ain’t see nothing.
Classic New Haven Style, but better than the «others». Fresh and plentiful ingredients; fresh; hot and delicious.
The atmosphere was «hometown bar». Mike, the owner, is a great guy– very friendly. Bartender was hilarious! Lots of stories told — friendly environment.

Best Pizza in West Haven! We call in and pick up our pie and it is awesome EVERY time. My favorite is the eggplant pizza. It is honestly the best I ever had. They are open late too which is another nice feature. Give Mikes a try you will not be dissapointed!

Just as good if not better than the famous New Haven pizza joints. The dining room is in need of some serious remodeling, the waitresses seemed like they did not want to be there.

A lot of people talk about New Haven style pizza THIS and New Haven style pizza THAT. But ask them to describe New Haven style pizza and except for the usual «charred crust» response, you’re likely not to get much else out of them. That’s because New Haven style pizza is kinda complex and somewhat difficult to describe. Some traits of it are noticeable like the charred crust but other traits are very subtle. In many ways it’s like New York style, but in some ways it’s not.
Exhibit #1: take a look at my photo of the whole pie. THAT’S a New Haven style pizza. You cannot see the underside but it is slightly charred with little bits of burnt «who-​knows-​what». I like the burnt «who-​knows-​what». It adds a smokey flavor and is just the result of not continuously scraping the oven. On the top of the pizza you will see multiple bubbles and every bubble is blackened (some say burnt). Also, the mozzarella cheese is grated and not sliced.
Not evident in the photo is a good supply of tomato sauce. The amount is enough to make your hands messy and get your shirt and pants into trouble (if it all slides off your slice). Unlike its New York cousin, New Haven style pizza is typically more messy to eat. Sometimes it can be a big slop fest. But any good chef will tell you good food is almost never neat. That’s something our NY friends don’t understand and will often judge a slice by it’s «neatness». Which as a long time New Havener boggles my mind. They’ll also load up on lots of toppings, eventually turning their pizza into a big casserole. Take a look at all the toppings in my photo. Yup, there are none. That’s because a good New Haven style pizza can stand by itself without toppings.
So how’s Mike’s apizza? It’s very good. It’s not the best pizza in the area, but it’s very good and is probably one of the better pizzas in West Haven. I like it because it’s slightly thicker than Zuppardi’s. That reminds me, here’s one more thing about New Haven style pizza; some people will say it is thicker or thinner than NY pizza. The truth is it can actually be both. New Haven style pizza can either be thick or thin depending on who is making it. Mike’s apizza is more in line with the thicker styles of Grand Apizza and Ernies Pizza.
Crust, sauce and cheese were all good.
The interior of Mike’s is a little hokey. I mean it’s dark, there’s an in-​your-​face fish tank, and there’s odd looking diamond plate lining the walls. Plus, there’s a total of three separate rooms which make its layout kinda confusing, especially if you have to pick up a pizza at the pick-​up window.
So how’s service? Eh. From my little communication with the pizza makers they don’t seem to be the most hospitable people in the world. Unfortunately I think I’ve received more warm feelings from a wet rag.

West Haven, Ct Best Kept secret. The Pizza is As Good as, if Not Better then Pepe’s, Sally’s and Modern Pizza, without the Lines out the door.
Prices are Reasonable. Bottom Line, If You Like Thin Crust Pizza, Then Mike’s is the Place. Be Sure To Tell Them That Bill Murray sent you…
