History

Established in 1999.

The American Colleges of Kombido, West Haven, Connecticut is the eastern most school in the United States that teaches the martial arts style of Kombido. Established in 1999 the American Colleges of Kombido, West Haven is operated by Master Instructor Doug Hodge.

KOMBIDO translates literally to the «way of combination». The combination is not simply a combination of Judo, Karate, Kung Fu, and Tai Chi but instead is a combination of martial arts fundamentals such as stance, blocks, strikes, and foot maneuvers along with strategic timing, distancing, entering, trapping, and take downs. The focus is on combining an individuals skills with an ever expanding learned skill set to provide them with an effective and efficient system of self defense. The goal is also to help the individual find balance through practice and wisdom.

Master Doug Hodge H.

Business Owner

Master Doug has been involved in the martial arts for over 34 years. He is the lead instructor for the American Colleges of Kombido in West Haven, Connecticut. Master Doug currently holds the rank of 7^th Degree Black Belt and is Sempai (Lead Student) for the American Kombido Association. Master Doug works at BBi Technologies located in Milford, CT as their Service Manager. He lives in West Haven, Connecticut with his wife, Betsey and his son, Angus. Master Doug was inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2012 for Lifetime Achievment.
