Specialties
It can be hard to find a Christian counselor, especially a Christian marriage counselor. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. My worldview is Christian, though I welcome and respect clients of any or no religious persuasion. My specialization is in sex therapy. I work mostly with couples, using a model based on Emotionally Focused Therapy. The model I use is designed to replace the exhausting conflict cycle with a renewal of respect and friendship. i am trained to help with sexual issues such as erectile problems, low desire, problems with orgasm, and sexual pain. I have experience in helping with parenting issues, with the objective of growing great kids. As well as couples, I work with individuals on issues including anxiety, depression, anger management, and recovery from sexual addiction, sexual abuse and other trauma. I also enjoy working with youth, starting from about age 13.
I specialize also in premarital counseling and marriage enrichment. Most couples put energy and cash into preparing for their wedding, but fewer put much effort into preparing for their marriage. For those who do, a clergyman may provide an adequate marital introduction. But for a really thorough, comprehensive kickstart for your marriage, I believe the package I provide is unique. It includes the Prepare/Enrich evaluation, and very much more.

My counseling practice is part of Renew Counseling Associates. Most Renew therapists work in Southern Connecticut and New York State, but I am the pioneer in Central Connecticut. My practice in West Hartford has been running for nearly five years. During that time my counseling load has been growing, and I have run a number of seminars on sexuality, marriage, and parenting. I counsel youth, individuals, couples, and families.

I was born in New Zealand, and have been resident in the USA since 2006. Completion of a very special program in marriage and family therapy with a specialization in sex therapy was the principal reason for coming to the US. I became sensitized a number of years ago to the acute embarrassment and humiliation many couples suffer due to sexual difficulties. I so much appreciate being able to help with this deeply personal aspect of marriage.
