Mount Snow

An older mountain but still a great time in Vermont!
I came here the 1^st weekend of March with a group of friends for snowboarding/​skiing and overall celebrating to kick off my birthday month! It’s only 4 hours-​ish from NYC.
WORD OF WARNING: This is not a «learning mountain». If you need to learn best to go closer to NYC, like Hunter or CamelBack. Also the trails are older and extremely narrow. Greens are more like Blues.
The conditions were better than I thought they were going to be. We had 2 snowboarders and 2 skiers respectively. There was a lot of ice.
Big Shout out to Medic Team on Mount Snow. My friend, 1^st time snowboarder went right over the edge of a Green Trail into the woods after trying to stop on ice, unclipped and forgot to clip in her leash, aka the rental went right down the mountain side into the ABYSS. Since I wasn’t going to let her walk down the 6 miles to the bottom by herself we walked together, me carrying my board and her carrying her wounded EGO. Medic came by and gave us a lift, but not just that, he was on skis and took us down seated in a metal sledge down the mountain on Black. My friend was terrified and I was all about it! It was hardcore amazing!

Nothing here is going to OVERLY HEALTHY. JUST ACCEPT IT.

Cuzzins Bar & Grill– Is great for drinks after hours
Station Tap Room– For all my Beer lovers I hear is awesome.
Accommodations:
We stayed at Snow Lake Lodge, which were simple enough. Even though the actual slopes are 10 mins walking, any of us that know what its like to hall your snowboard uphill in full gear, knows that if there is a shuttle, YOU TAKE IT. Luckily, Mount Snow offers a free shuttle, can’t miss it… it is painted lika COW, appropriately named the MOOver, which runs every 15 mins when the mountain is busy. WORD OF WARNING, you need to be outside in plain sight for the shuttle to stop for you. It’ll also take you to the other lodges, in case you make new friends, and will also drop you for night entertainment at the Snowbarn. In the AM there is, VERY light continental breakfast. Best to buy food before you come here if you wanna snack.
The Front desk was awesome the Sunday we left. Technically the Check Out Time was 11am, but I asked for the latest possible time so that I could hit the slops in the AM and still have time to come back and shower before the long drive back to the city. Me no Like to be Stinky. They were totally accommodating! They even watched my board while I ran upstairs to shower. Also about the bathroom, if you need a blowdrier, ask the front desk because they are not in the bathrooms.
2 Issues I had:
The «free WiFi» is awful and Walt’s Pub was pushy and rude. They basically come over every 5 mins to ask when you are going to order something. They put me and my friends off soo much we avoided the area at all costs because we didn’t want to continue being made uncomfortable.

I was here twice in my life, long ago. We had Peak Passes so needed to use one at Mount Snow. My boyfriend changed the name to Mount Blow. We arrived after a long ride and scored 4^th row parking. The South American parking attendants and lift workers were very nice. The older ambassador welcomed us. This is where the nice stopped. This is a big mountain. Mother Nature has impacted the snow situation in a bad way. We knew the conditions would be iffy. We came with open minds. We understand spring skiing and were ready for fun.
Due to limited trails, those open were jammed. Folks here have a don’t give a S%$# attitude racing down the slopes totally out of control. Watching from the lift rides and being on the actual mountain we were shocked by the mayhem. I had two near collisions with crazed boarders and skiers coming from behind. An errant board nearly smashed into my bf’s head. On the lift, a group of out of control older teens pelted him with snow balls. Mind you my man is 6’3″ and does not take kindly to such ridiculous antics. He gave them a verbal lashing and rather than it ending, the harassed him until he boarded away (their skills sucked in comparsion and could not chase him). At that point we left.
Oh, the lunch time scene inside the base lodge was packed to the gills as one would expect. After lunch that tables were littered with trash. As I said, most here do not give a s$%$ and left their crap for someone else to clean.
Wow, what a weird vibe. We are seasoned boarders and have never seen anything like it.
The ribbons of manmade snow were decent from 9 – 12 and then the snow turned to slush and huge patches of yellow ice were all over the trails. Unless there is a natural snow fall, southern VT is done in my opinion, for the season.

First off, this mountain is run by a bunch of RACIST PEOPLE! RACIST PEOPLE! RACIST PEOPLE! RACIST PEOPLE! RACIST PEOPLE! RACIST PEOPLE! RACIST PEOPLE! RACIST PEOPLE!
I’ve been to many of the mountains in the north east, and today I had an extremely sour day spoiled my management and white people running the cush jobs here. I can honestly say I will NEVER IN MY LIFE recommend this place to anyone. Until they learn to treat anyone who isn’t white with manners and respect I will make sure everyone knows how horrible this place is.

Hey here is a skiing resort who tries to get skiers in in a low season but has no shame to shut down the whole runs and lifts (95%) of it due to weather condition … Which I understand safety issue ! But denies and refuses to refund any customer for the ski pass nor the equipment rental when the resort is shut down. Today March 2^nd they decided to shut it down after 10 am (when they only open at 9 am) … Their policy is no refund after 10 am !!! Knowing in that extreme weather no one went skiing that early … There we go, they re legally covered but please no customers !! Good job guys but I won’t come back in the future. And thanks to the guest manager who clearly told me he cannot refund me … Letting me know their policy is written all over (in small small characters … And no one reads it !) and told me next time come before 10 am to get refund it .
This is definitely frustrating when you are only coming on a 3 day ski trip and you have to skip one day …

This is my second home! Closest large ski resort from Long Island. Have been coming here regularly since 2004. My kids learned to ski here as students in the weekend Development program. They offer season pass specials for college students and pass holders have perks such as first tracks, discounts during certain weekends, lesson discounts, discounts at the ski shops. The Six pack Bluebirds lift is a joy, protecting skiers from the bitter VT elements while getting to the summit. The snowmaking guns and grooming has improved tremendously and make the trip worthwhile. For snowboarders Carinthia offers an awesome park and half pipe. The food options have also greatly improved as well. Summertime is also great at Mount a Snow when the mountain is open for biking and activities such as craft fairs and Octoberfest.

Big fan of Mount Snow! Being from CT, I believe this Ski resort is worth the drive. My friends have season passes which came with some perks, including a free lesson and equipment for guests. I took advantage of that and got a free lesson from Kyle. Great guy, great instructor! I can’t directly comment on the prices since everything i got was free, but I can definitely tell you that the resort and trails are pretty nice. This season hasn’t been the best for skiing/​snowboarding due to the weather but Mt. Snow makes a good effort on keeping their visitors happy. The check in point can get pretty crowded and busy but the lady at the best was very nice despite having grumpy customers. I got my boots and helmet ($ 14 rental) after checking in and everyone was really nice. There are a variety of trails and lifts for everyone to enjoy. While talking to my friends who have been skiing/​snowboarding from over 10 years, they definitely recommend the season passes for Mt. Snow if you’re from the CT area.
Tip: Get your season passes way before the season starts! Saves you alot of money. Also, if you plan ahead, bring your own food! They have some limited options that are obviously very expensive so bringing I’d definitely recommend packing something up for the day. Overall, definitely recommend this place!

Nice runs, excellent six-​seater ski lift with bubble. A fine resort in many ways. No fifth star though, because by 10:30 am the equipment rental place had run out of ski poles in most sizes. When I inquired, the reasonably polite young man said, «Sorry, man. Maybe you can just ski without.» Shelling out close to $ 300 for a day of skiing with my daughter, in a resort that has clearly invested millions, it’s not too much to ask for an adequate supply of ski poles.

I really enjoyed Mount Snow! It was my first time skiing in Vermont, and it was bitterly cold, but I still loved it. The main 6 person lift with the blue cover fills up a lot, so just walk down a bit and take the other lift that goes to the top of the mountain, It is just as fast, but it holds less people and doesn’t have the cover. As a result, the line was way shorter.
Also, I love that there are green and blue trails starting at the top of the mountain! Great for a beginner/​intermediate skier like me!

Beyond impressed! First time at Mount Snow today and everything exceeded expectations. Trails were great, snow conditions were perfect, lifts are fast and organized, and the restaurant food/​drinks/​service was great! Can’t wait to go back!

Wanted to give snowshoeing a try while in the area. Wind chills were –20 so we wanted to try a guided tour for the first time and this was one of the only guided tour in the area. It ran $ 45 plus 20% gratuity added if you choose and that includes shoes and ski poles.
The tour lasted about 1 – 1.5 hours as advertised and it winded through the woods along the slopes. It is much more strenuous than expected, so be prepared for that.
I was a bit disappointed in that there was not much of a scenic view and you never got to the top of the mountain. The entire trail winds through the woods and you can occasionally see a decent view through the trees, but you have to be conscious of where you are walking because its tricky coming back down the mountain.
Overall, a great intro to snowshoeing that helped me understand it requires more energy than hiking, but I would look elsewhere in the area for something better to do snowshoeing for the price

Snow Bunnies, Pizza, French Fry, Hot Chocolate., it always sounds like so much fun when your friends are describing it to you. When you get there, the reality can be much more harsh and unforgiving. Especially when said friends toss you down a steep, steep mountain.
It really wasn’t how high the mountain was. I wasn’t even all that worried about the steepness. But, when I stared at that descent I already knew, «the French Fry isn’t going to work on this one. Shit» the whole experience as akin to, French fry, fall, French fry, fall.,
I clearly needed to learn some new skills., oh and I sure did. I learned that when you bend forward far enough the ski’s have a built in breakaway mechanism that is meant to prevent you from snapping off your knee caps! Yay for new skills!
I learned that when I splatter and lose my ski poles as I slide forty feet down the mountain, other nice skiers will bring my ski poles to me. Apparently it’s some sort of snow mountain etiquette.
I learned that it may be a good idea to grab a helmet for next time.
The important thing is that my doctor checked out my knee, and said that I was fine. All-​in-​all, a great trip. Next time I just have to be sure my skills are up to snuff before I tread on the fluff.

Perfect travel time from Hartford, CT. Lift lines go fairly quickly even on a gorgeous sunny day. Mountain is great for all levels of skiers. I stick to the blues which also have a range of difficulty. Rental people were super fun and full of energy, set the mood nicely. Easy in, easy out. Been here twice and will back back next season for sure

Mt Snow is my go-​to Vt ski area. It’s easy to get to from NY (about a 4hr drive), has plenty of eateries, adequate lodging and is massive in size when compared to the closer mountains in PA and NY.
While the lodge is still stuck in the 70’s, they’ve improved the food options a bit here; a pizza shop, a burrito and mac n cheese spot, all along with the usual cafeteria style offerings. There’s also a bar at the summit, a farm-​to-​table restaurant and several pubs in different buildings around the base of the mountain.
As for the boarding, it’s money for a guy like me. I prefer long intermediate runs. Trails where you can really rock some speed in parts and also have a bit of downhill to carve in other spots. Mt. Snow has plenty of these along with other trails to keep you from hitting the same places over and over again.
Other highlights…
* Bluebird, a lift with a spaceman-​esque cover, keeps you blocked from the wind while riding up to the mountain’s peak.
* The Corinthia area is a HUGE playground for boarders
* Moo-​ver bus will take you from several local hotels and parking areas and bring you to the base of the mountain
My only gripe is that on this visit the mountain had not been groomed from 8−12″ of snow the night before, so the boarding was rougghhh. Quicksand style. Oh well, still my fave spot in the area! Do it.

Awesome elevation. Great intermediate/​advanced trail selection! Fantastic use of Green Mountain National Forest!
This is a great option for any CT skiers like myself, who are looking for some more elevation and terrain than what is available in our relatively flat state.
We had some issues finding the main lodge when we were driving in, but once we parked and got in, we were all set! There’s a free bag check at the lodge, and you’re not too far from the main «bubble» lift.
This bluebird lift provides a quick ride up to the top of the mountain and also provides much appreciated wind cover! The day we visited the whole top of the mountain was engulfed in a snow cloud.
What I loved most about the mountain was the large variety of blue trails. They varied in difficulty, width, popularity, and landscape. The main green run was also a lot of fun!
Mount Snow — I hope I’ll be back again soon!!!

I spent my first weekend at Mount Snow during the busiest time of the year, after New Years. It was a nice change from northern Vermont luxury ski resorts. Lift lines move quickly, lots of trails for the size of the mountain for a variety of skill levels. Lots of choices for food between the base and summit.
I think the resort draws a different type of crowd than mountains like Okemo, Killington, or Sugarbush. More day trippers and weekenders, but was still an enjoyable weekend and very nice staff at the mountain.

Enjoyed every second of snowboarding. And enjoyed the waffles. Hills were great tons of fun

On the vurge of calling it a home base. Obviously not as big as Killington or other places out west but Mt Snow makes up for a lot in staff friendliness and customer service. Grounds keeper and Carinthia terrain park is the best in the east and logistically its the closest real VT mountain driving from NYC and Boston.

As a first time skier, I didn’t know what to expect. We came here on ¹²⁄₁₂ and the resort was having a special because of their anniversary. Lines were extremely long. In regards to the mountain, they have a beginner area as well as the bigger slopes for the more experienced. The mountain itself was a bit icy, and they didn’t have people going around to buff it.
We returned the next day, and they no longer had the special prices. It was jacked up back to $ 60 plus $ 40 rental fee (including $ 14 helmet). It just wasn’t worth it for THAT mountain, so we didn’t ski. We inquired about the snow mobiles and the tubing as their website had advertised, and we came to find that they were not yet open for the season. The website DID NOT specify this, so we drove an hour there just to drive an hour back to our hotel.
The staff there does not know what is going on and is not very helpful. It’s also as if they say things to go around telling you the truth. The two females at the ticket purchasing station told us that the snow mobiles and tubing were probably open and we should go over to that area and check for ourselves. When we walked over there, we asked another employee and he stated that it was too early in the season for either of those to be open.
Overall, we won’t be returning to this resort.

I can’t review the different slopes because I’m a beginner. But I must say I liked the ski school instructors. They were pretty helpful and I always have a great session there. Unlike the smaller mountains, 12 year olds aren’t instructing you they are adult instructors and they are very professional.
They have a restaurant and a food court like section in the lodge. They sell the best mac and cheese in a booth outside the food court. It’s pretty pricey but totally worth it.
The best part of my experience is that I lost my iphone (well that’s not the good part) and someone one actually returned it! (that’s the good part)
So I can say Mt. Snow is one of my favorite spots.

I loved Mount Snow! I would never call this a luxury ski resort, but it was very nice and had plenty of trails to keep me interested for my 5 day stay. The two main lifts are high speed lifts which will get you to the summit in 7 and 7.5 minutes respectively. Unfortunately, our visit coincided with the bluebird lift being broken so we did not get to try it. I could definitely see the value in it on a few of the windy/​snowy/​sleeting days we had.
If I had one complaint it would be that they dedicate a lot of acreage to the terrain parks. They don’t really give you any idea of the trail difficulty in that area, so if you are a beginner I’d ask someone about it before taking a trip over there.
Most of the trails were opened and groomed during out stay. The resort includes three lodges, a bar at the summit, a rental shop, demo shop and two waffle cabins. We stayed at the resort so I cannot comment on the parking situation, but I did drive through the area and there seemed to be plenty of parking.
Midweek the lift lines were short (if any). I heard that Saturday is a nightmare so if probably avoid that.
