Thank goodness the free cuts for kids is over! I called for two days to make an appointment for myself! Left message as requested, noone ever called back. I hope Penneys get repeat customers from this fiasco because I won’t be returning!

Why is it so hard to find a private salon open on a Monday? I have the day off and need a cut bad so I went back here because it’s open.
I got a hair cut here and took my mom for a cut and color a couple years ago. I think the prices were reasonable and the stylists were professional and friendly. The salon itself has a good selection of products to buy and a nice looking interior.
I don’t know that this is the place to go for cutting edge trends. There were a lot of grey-​haired women coming for their perm & poof as I recall.
One issue I have is that calling to make an appointment can be tedious. The person who answers the phone and takes your name doesn’t understand or hear very well and I end up spelling my entire name with a variation on the ICAO alphabet, i.e. «A, as in Alpha. No, A like Apple. Yeah.»
UPDATE: I just got my $ 37 trim & blow dry by Maggie and am very pleased. The place was dead, as some stylists had taken the day off. I was early and as I waited for Maggie I spoke with a woman who knew the place quite well. Apparently the company canned several stylists that had been there for upwards of 20 years because «they weren’t meeting their quotas». They kept the oldest lady so that the others couldn’t sue for age discrimination. Few new hires have been able to meet their quotas and there are a lot of empty stations.
Bottom line, this place is much more affordable than my other hair haunts that aren’t open on Mondays. So, unless I’m wanting a drastic style change or color adventure, this is a good place to go for maintenance.
