Factory Tea Bar

FTB on the Beach in West Covina, CA is located in an asian plaza with a lot of other restaurants nearby. It is located across the street from the WCo DMV and nearby the bowling alley. There are a lot of parking spaces since it’s in a plaza. The environment is laid back with sand and tables that resemble the beach.
The drinks are just way too sweet for me unless I ask for 50% or even 25% less sugar! I think it really depends on who is making the drink as well since it almost tastes bland sometimes if I ask for less sugar. So inconsistent! Last time we had tried the brick toast… extremely sweet as well. I think it’s pretty much all about the hype. If you want to be in a place that seems like you’re on the beach. come here. Otherwise, I wouldn’t make the trip to have drinks here.

They’re caramel toast is sooooo freakin addicting! It is unique and different compared to other brick toast and they actually cut out the edges which they serve vanilla ice cream within the crust on the side. The middle toast itself has a cinnamon toasty taste to it which adds a lovely texture!
I also love their taro milk which I also add boba and taro to. Although I wish they made the taro a bit smaller so it would’ve been easier to drink through the straw. The taro chunk was as big as an ice cube. Didn’t really mind that but would’ve been nice just a suggestion to make.
Aside from the drinks/​desserts that they specialize in, the interior of the place is very cute since it has a beachy feel hence, «ftb on the beach» even tho West Covina is nothing near a beach! =P

Wish they had sand in the bathrooms too. Lol jk!

Boba: ⁹⁄₁₀ pretty good consistency; chewy but not mushy
Tea: solid ⁸⁄₁₀ good tea flavor, but a little on the sweeter side (i do prefer my tea less sweet)

Just discovered that there’s a new location for FTB! YESSS, fave boba place hands down. And the only place I’ll order boba in my drinks… Not that big of a fan but its so darn good at FTB that I’ll just have to make an exception ;)
Stumbled across it on Unilocal after having dinner at jazz cat. Id usually just walk around the plaza and get my boba fix at half and half but apparently they’re closed on Tuesdays — its cool, I’m even happier with FTB
Nom nom green tea w boba is my go to drink at the original location and its just as good here! A bit on the sweet side but oh so creamy and delicious. Sadly they didn’t have boba when I came in T_​_​T but my drink was still nom nom regardless
This store is beach themed; pretty cool but there’s straight up sand everywhere haha
They also have games to play and like the original location its a cool place to chill and hangout

This is one of the most solid boba places around the area. I’m a very big fan of both their boba milk tea and their jasmine green boba milk teas (both my go-​to choices). My parents also enjoy their black milk tea.
Service is prompt, beverages are consistent, nice décor. There really hasn’t been anything disappointing with FTB except that it isn’t my favorite place to go for boba, but I wouldn’t be surprised if many people think it’s theirs!

I usually come here with my siblings when I’m in town! FTB is a fun place to hang out. They have games for you to check out now and we’ve played a couple.
Drinks are usually yummy and we have no complaints with the snacks we’ve gotten.
I’ve seen them constantly making improvements such as changing out the tables and adding more to make it a better place to hang out. We were disappointed they closed for a while so we’re glad they opened up again!

Solid boba place in West Covina. The dark tinted windows would make you believe that this place isn’t open, but it is. It also masks the beach theme that you see inside and a little bit in the patio area. I really like the beach theme and really helps set a chill, relaxed vibe. The sand can be found throughout the place, but it is most prevalent right next to the counter and at the side. There are plenty of tables for different sizes of groups.
The boba here is pretty standard, but solid nonetheless. The prices are fair, and the portion sizes are about right, not too small and not humongous like BYOB. I tried the Almond Milk Tea and the Passion Fruit Green Tea and I would recommend those. However, the drinks did not stand out and tasted like many other places.
There is no large menu sign. They have laminated menus right next to the cashier, which I feel is a bit of a hindrance. Service is pretty fast and the people working there are kind. The drinks here were pretty average, but I really like the vibe and the theme that they have here so I will bump them up one more star.

Food is 2.5÷5 just ok. I didn’t like the cheese fries that much-​powdery. Chicken wings are 8 small pieces.
Music was all rap music tonight. Terrible to study in.
Chairs & tables are hard to be comfortable in; not too many outlets available.
No service so you pick up your own food & drinks.
I would only come back if I want to chill and talk with friends over boba. Otherwise, I wouldn’t come here just for a drink or to study or have a serious talk at.

Secondary location for FTB here in West Covina in the Hong Kong plaza. It’s not as big as the Mission location, but big enough for relatively large groups. When you walk in, think «beach». There’s a sandy section with lounge chairs, so consider wearing your flip flops. And «no», there are no sun tanning stations to get your tan. Bring your spray tan lotion! And, if you’re a hipster, wear your Ray Bans!
Anyways, I tried the honey green tea with grass jelly and crushed ice at 50% sweet. It was spot on! No complaints, and only praises. Tea was refreshing and the jelly bitter. The sweetness level was perfect and the crushed ice was a nice touch. Service was prompt.
Parking should be plentiful in the plaza. It’s in the same plaza at BYOB and Tapioca Express, but FTB should do fine here. Enjoy!

Factory Tea Bar. My favorite boba place, ever!
Best milk tea hands down! Boba is always served fresh and hot here. Cooked perfectly with the right amount of sweetness. Boba texture is always on point, soft and a bit chewy in the center. I’m really glad they opened one in West Covina. So much closer to home! I usually always go to the San Gabriel location just to get my cup of boba milk tea. Yeah, it gets a bit messy here with their beach theme and sand, but I’m extremely happy they are local to me now! Their Milo toast is one of my favorite toasts, too! Love the mountain of ice cream scoops they give with it. They don’t skimp on the ice cream whatsoever! Drizzled with chocolate and caramel syrup. So freaking good! Popcorn chicken is always piping hot and juicy. Loaded with tons flavor. Only complaint I have is that they are closed on Mondays :(

LOVE the popcorn chicken here! Medium spice is actually pretty spicy and I can handle my spice pretty well. The chicken is crispy on the outside but soft and tender on the inside. It was also given to us piping hot which I really appreciated and the chicken actually stayed hot for a good while. The sauce they give you, however, isnt the normal sweet and sour sauce they usually give you with popcorn chicken but it’s not bad.
As for the drinks, I was feeling a bit under the weather and wanted a hot drink. I was debating between a hot honey milk green tea or a hot factory milk tea – I asked the cashier for his recommendation and he suggested the factory milk tea… well, big mistake. I did not like this drink ONE bit and it was far from the normal hot milk teas. This one had a weird bitter taste to it :(I instantly regretted my decision. My boyfriend ordered the iced passionfruit black tea and that one was pretty good. Refreshing and subtly sweet – just the way we like it.
I’m still giving them 4 stars because all the workers were very friendly, I loved the unique décor and set up of the establishment and for their popcorn chicken. I definitely want to come back to try their other drinks and their honey brick toast!

This is an interesting tea bar concept. They’ve literally converted this boba shop to a real beach like theme with sand and beach chairs! Kinda cool. It’s kinda stanky… I think it’s the sand they use. I came here to get some work done and it was hard to find an outlet. It’s limited to only one table with two outlets. The chairs are uncomfortable to sit on for a prolong amount of time.
The cashier who helped me was nice. I got a Almond Green Milk Tea and asked for it to be less sweet. It was okay but nothing spectacular. Reasonable prices for drinks but a little bit more than I would like to pay since I didn’t think it was that great. They give stamp cards.

Sand. Sand everywhere.
Honestly, this place would be your typical boba joint if it weren’t for the sand. (Don’t get me wrong, though. I wouldn’t come here just for the sand.) However, if I had to pick from all the boba places available in Hong Kong Plaza, I’d probably pick this place.
As for boba, Nom Nom Green Milk Tea is my weapon of choice. Everything else is fairly run-​of-​the-​mill. But there’s room to be surprised.

Delicious drinks and yummy brick toast!
I love the quality of their drinks– always the right amount of sweetness and average priced.
The brick toast is so cheap! You get 4 scoops of vanilla ice cream with a huge piece of toast.
My favorites and are guava green tea and the milo brick toast :)
This location is beach themed so the décor is cute but the sand can be troublesome depending on what shoes you’re wearing.

The ambiance itself is 4 stars!
RAMEN AND BOBA are my current obsessions! You can see why this is a tough review being that I have been to so many boba places in the last few weeks.
Still, FTB managed to impress me. As you walk in the shady entrance in Hong Kong Plaza you would not expect that you would be walking into an indoor BOARDWALK AND BEACH! The décor was absolutely beautiful and the ambiance will remind you of a summer night on a beach house.
The boba itself was actually pretty decent. The menu was pretty basic but the fact that I am writing you this with my feet in the sand is just it.
As an adult I thought this place as cool but the inner child in me was more than excited. It took me everything going to not grab a bucket and make a F#$&ING SAND CASTLE.

Came here a couple times from when they were still a pop up shop six months ago and now they’ve settled down.
Earlier while I was helping running errands for my mom, we were craving boba and ended up at hk plaza. Keep in mind the plaza has at least four places to get boba. Decided to give this place a try.
The workers were friendly and greeted me with a happy greeting. And ordered from the paper sized menu at the counter. I believe not having a menu as a sign or big board isn’t the thing anymore and just having multiple menus is the trend. I think it’s sort of convenient though and takes more time for the consumer to make up their mind.
Anyway I ordered Thai tea with boba and honey green milk tea with boba. The lovely girl asked for my name after I ordered and automatically assumed they will call my name when my order was ready. As I was waiting and chillen «on the beach» I looked around and saw most high school age kids hanging out and this was around 6pm.
Now this is what I didn’t really understand, there were two girls ahead of my order and they ordered four drinks, and when their drinks were ready I noticed the workers called their name for their order to be picked up. Then a couple minutes later I noticed one of the two drinks I’ve ordered was on the counter ready to be picked up, but guess my order wasn’t ready yet since they didn’t call my name. Then I noticed the girl that took my order peaked her head from above the counter and quickly took that drink off the counter. Then all of a sudden I see her walk out of the door and walked towards me with two of my drinks in a little box container and delivered my drinks to me. But yeah kind of confused me about how they handle their service but hey a pretty girl delivered my drinks to me in a to go tray and not complaining there.
Anyway onto the drinks. Honey green milk tea was yummy. Haven’t had milk tea taste this good in a long time. Plus their boba was on point. It was hot/​warm, soft, tender and fresh.
I tasted my moms Thai tea and wow. Tasted like any ordinary Thai tea but their Thai tea has a unique flavor or after taste to it. I believe they’ve added evaporated milk or something to it making it taste rich and yummy.
Anyway this place is a cool place to hang out with friends. They have chairs outside too.

Favorite tea house in West Co, but that’s not really saying much bc West Co is booney as hell. (Sorry Pinky)
In the same plaza as Tapioca Express, BYOB, and Banh Mi Che Cali which all sell boba drinks… My favorite is Factory Tea Bar.
Overall it’s a cuter spot to hang out than all the others, they have a beach theme and stick with it all the way. Actual sand and flowing water!
Drinks I like better than the other places as well, but it’s not as good as Half & Half. Where’s the caramel milk tea at??? However, their boba is on point, soft and tasty.
Their chicken wings are actually really good, but Pinky says they need to fry them better bc they throw them in the fryer all at once so some of the wings and drums get cooked as one piece. Flavor is good, crispy skin, and juicy meat. However!!! They pissed me off tonight by giving my order to everyone who came after me, then tried to give me an older batch with my order. Pinky deserves new, freshly cooked wings so it wasn’t acceptable. They still get a good rating though bc they showed me that they were sincerely sorry when I made it clear I was upset.
Overall I’d come back for soft yummy boba and wings.

Factory Tea Bar is a boba place located in a somewhat large Asian plaza. This is their second location, the first location is located in San Gabriel.
I’ve been here a few times. I looked at the menu from their website prior to my first visit so I can have an idea on what to order. I ended up getting what I usually order at most boba places which is either a regular milk tea or chocolate milk tea. I ordered a chocolate milk with boba. They have the option of whether I want the drink hot or cold and I chose to have it cold.
Their menu is actually placed right in front of the cash register which can be stressful for those that can’t decide on what to get especially if there’s a line behind them. But anyway, they serve slushies, smoothies, flavored milk, flavored teas, milk teas, blended yogurts, snacks, and desserts. You have the choice of adding boba, grass jelly, coffee bean, lychee, pudding, or rainbow jelly for your drinks.
They also offer stamp cards and they pretty much use the exact same one from the San Gabriel location. You get a free drink after nine stamps.
Their décor is rather interesting. They have a beach setting with actual sand and wooden chairs. The San Gabriel location had more of a bar lounge type setting.
The service seemed to be a little inconsistent. For the first visit, within a few minutes after I ordered, they walked over and brought me my drink. For the last two visits, they asked for my name and yelled out my name when my order was ready.
Onto the drink, for all visits the boba drink was spot on. The chocolate milk flavor was perfect. Super rich chocolate flavor. The boba itself was probably the best quality I’ve ever had. The boba was served hot and had a maple syrupy flavor with the texture being soft and gummy. Definitely a step up from Half and Half and Ten Ren’s and tremendously towers over Quickly and Lollicup.
Also apparently there’s three different entrances. One on the front, one on the side, and one on the back. The entrance on the back has a different store logo which says «F.T.B. on da beach» and the front entrance just pretty much says «Factory Tea Bar.»
Overall, this is a pretty good boba spot. Would be back to try another boba drink!

This place has been closed forever… so when my friend and I saw that it was open, we immediately headed on over.
They were having a buy one get one free promotion since they reopened. Damn right you better… to make up for the time I drove here and you guys were closed.
I tried the nom nom milk green tea and rose milk tea. The nom nom tasted VERY butterscotchy. I only recommend that if you like butterscotch. The rose milk tea tasted like a combination of floral and fruity… it wasn’t bad but I wish it had some actual tea flavor. It just felt like a fruity milk drink.
The atmosphere was cool though. It’s beach themed (actually like nighttime beach) and there’s sand everywhere and lanterns.
Overall, liked the atmosphere, liked the BOGO deal, but the drinks didn’t impress me. I’d be down to come again and try something new as long as it’s still going on.

FTB ON DA [sic] BEACH.
This place finally opened after a month of being shut down. C’mon guys, how long it take to replace breaker? Work faster. Work harder… better… stronger.
I haven’t been to the San Gabriel one in a while and I wanted to try this one out (does it stack up?). Got da Rose Milk Tea. It’s good, if you enjoy liquified lychee jelly (100% convinced that was the secret). It wasn’t bad, but it ain’t roses. I didn’t think the rose milk tea stacks up against the Half and Half rose milk tea. H&H tastes like delicious rose ice cream, melted and blended vs lychee jelly. In FTB’s defense, they include rose buds.
Aside from that, nothing is safe from the sand. Sandals, sneaks, national security, the sand infiltrates all. Except yo momma! Really cool vibe with a good volume of background music (quiet enough to hear and carry a conversation easily). I definitely want to try more of the menu since this location is so close now and I think this one is comparable to the San Gabriel one.
