Mitchell’s Salon & Day Spa

Although the Colerain location has closed, the stylists of that location are still available. They’ve been dispersed to the other locations. My stylist, Rhonda, has been relocated to the West Chester branch. I loved Colerain, but West Chester feels like a step up. The stations are more private, which I appreciate. The lobby is very comfortable and attractive. And the front desk staff met the high standard of friendly and professional service that I was used to at Colerain. Although this location is far from convenient for me, Rhonda has kept my hair healthy and cut styled too well to leave her. Throughout my transition to natural hair, from the big chop on, she’s done a great job. If you have curly/​ethnic hair she’s the one to see.

Here for haircut. Love the way Evan cuts it. Just need to refresh him so he cuts hit the same. Lots of talk and laughing. This is all for now.

I was fortunate enough to get $ 300 in gift cards from my three children, my man, and his son for Christmas. So I set up an appointment for a manicure with SKYLAR, a massage with MARIE, and a foil and cut with MARILYN! My nails are beautiful and the massage felt great! By the end of the evening MARILYN really only had time to do my foil and I want you to know she stayed until 10:00 pm to give me a wonderful cut to go with my new color!!! I absolutely love love love my hair! MARILYN, Skylar, and Marie — thank you for making my first visit to Mitchell’s a wonderful one!!! West Chester OH is fantastic… we talked, its a great group of individuals that’s more like family, a larger version of the little salon in Steal Magnolia’s! A MUST DO just for YOU! Thank you!

Yesterday I had a late evening appointment (7:45) with Stephanie. She was awesome. She understood that I wanted something different and shorter than my previous cut and was concerned about how it would look on me. She asked a few questions and we decided on a inverted bob. She was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. She worked to make sure I liked the cut and that it was even on all sides. I will happily go back to Mitchell’s and especially Stephanie for my next cut.

Went for a Paraffin Manicure with a friend. I asked for a neutral color since I am not allowed bold colors at work. She didn’t show me any colors she just put what she thought i should have on and didnt get polish on my entire nail. When I got outside I realized she had only painted half my nail! My friends lady was very nice and took her time, the lady who did mine rushed through and then left as soon as she slapped on nail polish. It was disappointing

Loved this place when I went. Don’t want my hairstylist to book up so not providing name lol. Great environment and the stylist did things with my cut that no one else has ever done. Amazing!!! It is pricey but for 20 more bucks you are WEARING the results on your head. You get what you pay for!

Since moving to Mason, OH, I’ve frequented this location. I mainly go for an underarm wax on a consistent basis.
My go-​to is Carrie… and she’s so awesome! If I cannot book (my waxing) with her, I will not book at all. I have trust issues when it comes to my body and, more specifically, waxing. She’s never failed me. She’s also waxed my upper lip. Hurts like hell… not bc of her… but bc it’s just a sensitive spot. The cold stones used after the lip wax feels so good and takes away the stingy, annoying pain. I’ve also had a few facials done by Carrie. No complaints there.
Since this location is the closest to me, I’ve gone for several other services as well. Non-​Prego massage (LOVE), Prego massage (LIKE…was still uncomfy afterwards), pedicure (just OK… I’ve had better). Carrie=5 stars… all other services=4 stars
Customer service is always on point! The girls at the front desk are nice and accommodating. A few months ago they called/​emailed me to reschedule one of my appts due to them closing for inclement weather. Even though the call was at 5 in the damn morning, I appreciated the heads up.
Scheduling is a breeze. Carrie can book up pretty fast during busy seasons, but I’ve never had a problem getting in when I wanted.
Overall, great place! Prices are a little high, but it’s worth it.

AMAZING salon. I’ve been going to Casey Brogen for over 4 years! I adore her! She does an amazing job and ALWAYS makes me feel comfortable! Love this salon!

this place is perfect. the staff is awesome and they never fail to serve me free drinks. Their massages are amazing and they check to make sure the pressure is okay.

Can’t say I’m overly impressed with this place. I’ve been there twice and seen two different people and both turned out horrific. The first time I went to have my hair corrected. Another salon had put highlights in my hair and my whole head turned a yellowish color. I went to Mitchell’s to have it fixed back to my natural color and they dyed it black; my hair is naturally a light to medium brown. It took about 8 months for the color to fade. The 2^nd time I went to get an Express trim. I just wanted the ends cleaned up, because my hair had been growing at different lengths after all the hair color damaged it. She started thinning out my already thin and frizzy hair. Now I have even more frizz and my hair won’t stay down. I assumed this was the best of the best since their prices are so high. I will continue my search for a stylist.

It’s … Ok. Hardly a five star «spa». Hair cut was ok. Color was not good (blonde turned way brassy). Not what I’d call a «spa» atmosphere: woeful in its décor, scuffs on the wall, plastic on the chairs. Prices high for what it is. 3 hours for a cut and color … Who has time for that?

I have been going to Mitchell’s for years now. I have tried a couple other salons but none of them compare. The salon is beautifully decorated, it is huge, and everyone is very nice. Even though it is large the way it is set up creates a very nice, comfy, and somewhat private atmosphere. There is a separate room for the dryers with big comfy benches and foot stools to wait for your color to set and they have tall walls that separate every work area instead of having a big open room.
I have had my hair done by many different girls while I’ve been going there all of which have done an amazing job. But I have to say Alex is phenomenal. She has been doing my hair for a long time now and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I leave every time loving my hair.
They also offer you a drink while you wait and they give it to you in a wine glass even though I just get soda. It just makes you feel fancy. I love it!

I started going to Casey B at age 18. For years I traveled from Chicago and Columbus for Casey to cut my hair. I have since found a stylist in Columbus that does the job close to Casey, at least close enough that I don’t feel the 4 hour round trip drive is necessary anymore.
Fast forward to my wedding day and there was no one in the Greater Cincinnati area I trusted more than Casey to do my hair. I love Mitchell’s and always feel treated well, but I was not going there unless Casey was able to do my hair. Since it was a wedding, I had to go through their bridal coordinator to make my appointments. I was heartbroken when she told me Casey wasn’t scheduled to work the day of my wedding.
However, Casey came in just to do my hair! I went in the day before for a hair trial with pictures from pinterest. Casey ended up combining two of the pictures to create the perfect look. I was very happy with my hair and it stayed up the entire day (went in at 9am and it was still in place at 3am that night/​next morning).
All together, four of my bridesmaids, my mom, & I got our hair done on Saturday morning. Everyone loved their up-​dos and their stylists. All the ladies were impressed with the salon and the constant filling of our water glasses as we got our hair done. One of my bridesmaids has a ton of hair, so we were especially surprised it was completed in under an hour. If you’re getting married in Hamilton/​West Chester and in need of an updo, I highly recommend Mitchell’s.

I’ve been coming to Mitchell’s for my haircuts for the past several years, and even had them do my hair, makeup and nails for my wedding. I’ve simply never found a place that does a good job on my hair as consistently as the stylists at Mitchell’s. I’ve even seen a couple of different stylists here and I’ve always been pleased.
The salon is huge and they offer you drinks while you wait to be seen. It’s well kept and nicely decorated. The only flaw I can really get them on is that sometimes I don’t feel welcome in the lobby (as if certain cashiers are judging you) and setting up appointments on the phone can be a bit confusing if you get the wrong person. But, I let those go because I haven’t found any other salon nearby even half as good as Mitchell’s.

As one of Kara C.‘s bridesmaids, I was treated to a style on her wedding day. We had two stylists booked for seven bridesmaids. Kara was booked with her favorite stylist, Renee.
Each lady was able to choose which style of hair they wanted to wear down the aisle. Some had pictures, others did not and just requested it «up.» My ‘do? Down, lots of curls, and lots of volume up top. I was vague on purpose and was excited to see what the stylist would come up with. She used two different curling irons to fill my hair with butterfly ringlets. My bangs, which I usually wear in a pin-​up girl poof, was curled and included very tiny curls. It looked amazing.
An added benefit: My hair is blonde with cherry red underneath, and the way the stylist laid the curls made it look extravagant. It was the best fanciful ‘do!
It took about five hours for all seven bridesmaids to get their hair fixed. Kara’s primping took a bit longer: around two hours. Her naturally straight locks were curled, with an addition of long, curly extensions, and a large braid wrapped to the side. She looked absolutely breathtaking for her big day. Renee did a stunning job!
Lastly, our bride had her makeup applied. She detests having her eyes touched, so this was a challenge for our stylist. Piece of (wedding) cake. Kara had eyelashes, mascara, eyeshadow, the works… and not a single moment of freaking out. Hooray!

I have been attached to my hair for as long as I can remember. I’ve cried over so many bad haircuts that I’ve lost track. After 4 years in Indiana for college, I found myself back in Cincy in desperate need of a haircut, but with no hair stylist! I have several friends who go to Mitchell’s and always have great hair, so I decided to try them out.
The stylist I requested was on a leave of absence, but had recommended Ashley in her place. The results? Fantastic! Ashley understands my attachment to my long hair and she’s also just fun to hang out with for an hour or so.
The last time I went I decided to go with a darker, reddish hue, which I was very nervous about doing. Ashely was able to find the perfect match and I got complements left and right after it was done.
The prices are what you would expect for a nice salon, but Ashley is a lower level stylist so my wallet doesn’t feel too drained after and I still feel like I’m getting the same results I would with a higher level stylist.
I also love the fact that they have a diverse array of magazines (ie not just gossip mags) and offer you a drink the moment you step in the door.
My only complaint is that the front desk staff can be rather snobby. I always feel like they are judging me when I roll in with little to no make up and comfy clothes.
Other than that, I highly recommend this salon!

Renee Feltner is the best stylist there! Admittedly, I have not gone to many other stylists… why mess with a good thing? Renee is the stylist to many of my family members and I always recommend her to friends. She is very busy so it can sometimes be difficult to get an appointment, but she’s worth the wait. She is very patient and always listens to what I am looking for. I am not very adventurous when it comes to haircuts and I have never felt pressured to do anything drastic, as I have with other stylists in the past. I am getting married next year and could not imagine having anyone else do my hair.
The staff at the front desk are either very friendly or very snobby. It isn’t a big deal though because my interactions with them are usually limited. Mitchell’s can be expensive, meaning I don’t get my hair cut as often as I should, but I feel that it’s worth it. The atmosphere is relaxing and I like that they offer you something to drink. I also like that their magazine selection seems diverse and current.

Honestly, this is as good as it gets in Cincinnati, in my opinion. The only haircut I’ve received better than Mitchell’s was in San Francisco where I paid around $ 100 (haircut and simple design). Mitchell’s doesn’t cost nearly that much (about $ 60 for a cut and style from a veteran designer) and I’m just as pleased with their work.
I’ve been to SEVERAL different salons in the Cincinnati area (downtown, Hyde Park, Northside, etc.) and was never really happy with the outcome.
Finally, I found Mitchell’s. I started out at their Hyde Park location and was happy with the service but it wasn’t until I came to the West Chester location that I’ve been consistently pleased (thrilled, even) by the haircuts I’ve received from Michelle.
Michelle is phenomenal. She listens, knows what will flatter my face and talks me out of stuff that won’t look good on me. Michelle can also talk about anything from sports to television to food and travel. And she’s happy not to talk if that’s your thing, too. I’ve received SO many compliments on haircuts from Michelle that I will not even consider going anywhere or to anyone else. She is also incredibly masterful with highlights and color. The highlights she did for me looked natural and grew out nicely.
Also, their spa services are fantastic no matter which location I’ve visited. However, I must say that I prefer the staff at the Kenwood location. The Signature Facial and Hot Stone Massage are a must!

In the past four months, I have had three facials at the West Chester location. With each facial I was hoping it would be better than the prior one. I was disappointed each time. Too much of the time was spent on product sales and a push for additional treatment add-​ons. The actual time spent on skin services was much less than expected. I did purchase a few of the skin care products and they were just ok for daily use.

I wrote an earlier review of the Mitchell’s location in Hyde Park but the West Chester location is actually quite a bit different.
First of all, the Mitchell’s in West Chester caters towards a crowd of soccer moms and high-​school prom-​goers, so this salon is not quite as hoity-​toity as the Hyde Park store (read: you can stop by in sweats and you’re going to get treated as any other customer).
Another plus of the West Chester location is it’s size, at least three times the size of any normal salon and spa; Mitchell’s in West Chester has a day spa area completely separated from the salon. This division makes for a much more relaxing atmosphere for a massage than one in which you can hear the chatter of stylists and blow-​dryers. The size also speaks to the number of employees the salon and spa has; I have never had a problem booking a last-​minute appointment at this Mitchell’s, even on a Friday afternoon!
I’ve been to a few different stylists at Mitchell’s but I have always liked Taylor’s color work and cuts. One star docked because I don’t feel like Mitchell’s puts too much effort into making customers feel like stars (every great salon knows how to do this).
