As usual, I found this visit to be clean and well stocked. This time, the cashier and bagger were teens and after a brief greeting, carried on a conversation between them until I was finished being rung up and then both smiled and told me to have a nice day. I have to admit, it was amusing. The bagger was trying to get the cashier to go out with him. She smiled politely and advised him that she doesn’t party. It went back and forth for a little while. He was trying to convince her that he wasn’t either and she wasn’t buying it. It was kind of cute and in the end I was hoping that she would give him a chance. But, I did go home and remind my teens to focus on the customer when they are working. Since it is right around the corner from me, I’ve been a regular at this location for over a decade. Over the years I can honestly say that I have rarely been dissatisfied with the cleanliness, variety, availability, or friendliness of the staff. Once I was irritated because the guy in front of me wanted cigarettes and the cashier had to close her register and go get them. It seemed like it took forever and I was in a hurry. I wanted to say, or even better, hear the cashier say«Dude, seriously? Go through the line where the cigarettes are kept. We’re not going to hold up the three people in line behind you…» But, that didn’t happen; we all smiled and acted like adults, and eventually were cashed out. The other, is the ongoing saga of the remodel. It’s been months, maybe even a year or more, and I still can’t get through there as effortlessly as I used to. But hey, that is all Kroger’s not just my location. A couple of positives… There have been times when I literally couldn’t find something and asked. Every time, I was helped with a smile. I was either given specific directions, accompanied to the product; someone went in the back to get more… Once, I was really looking forward to some edamame salad. I arrived at the deli and they didn’t have any. One of the guys behind the counter noticed the disappointed look on my face and asked if he could help. I explained that they didn’t have what I was looking for today and I’d try again another day. He further inquired, and said«no problem, I’ll mix some up for you right now.» And, he did. Doesn’t get much better than that!
