Greystone Hall

I am so unbelievably excited to host my wedding at Greystone Hall next month, and will definitely be writing another review after the Big Day, but I just have to gush about how great Elizabeth has been over the past year and half that we’ve been planning our wedding. I grew up very close to this property, but never knew the majesticness that was just right around the corner! I think we did our first tour of Greystone during one of their open houses back in December of 2012. Elizabeth was super sweet and gave us a guided tour of the facility and grounds, and had a ton of information at the ready including pictures, videos, vendor lists, you name it.
We were concerned about the upcoming construction, as the previous Unilocaler noted and Elizabeth was very understanding, but she was clear about what was known and what was unknown. Basically what we took from it was that they sit on an 800acre property (think VAST), and construction would not be within sightlines. It really was of no concern to us. The gorgeous early 20^th century mansion sits among giant trees, and in the summer months, the property is SO green and picturesque! Of course it was winter when we booked the place, the trees were bare, the tent wasn’t up. But it was still so pretty. My mom sent me a picture when she stopped by after a good snow. Just WOW! It’s absolutely breathtaking. I ran with the setting and planned my wedding ‘theme’ to nature/​trees/​because that is what is surrounding you.
I cannot tell you how many times I have emailed Elizabeth with various questions and concerns, and she always gets right back to me. The lines of communication are very open, which we really appreciate since we are planning our wedding from Los Angeles. Greystone remains a private residence and Elizabeth was very clear with us from the beginning the rules of the venue (there aren’t many, but they rules they have they are firm with). I was kind of wary about the pre-​approved vendor list, but it actually turned out to be great. With so many decisions to make over the course of planning, it was nice to have some parameters to work within so we weren’t so overcome with option overload. Their vendors come at a variety of price points, and the other nice thing is you know they’ve worked Greystone before, have samples of their work from Greystone events, and they are all quality vendors. And of course if you have your person that you just HAVE to work with, Elizabeth and the Greystone team are relatively open to that, from what I understand (I can’t speak from experience because we stuck to the list).
In Sum: I highly recommend you pay Greystone a visit if you are still touring venues. The venue and location will speak for itself, and I can say with confidence that Elizabeth will work with you throughout the whole process. Thanks Elizabeth!!!

Wonderful and beautiful place for a wedding. As a wedding photographer I’d highly recommend this venue.

BRIDES BEWARE!
My fiancé and I were about to send in our deposit and signed rental agreement when we received an email from Greystone about possible construction being onsite during our wedding day. Like any normal human being, we had hesitations and asked if we could come discuss and see the construction plans. We drove over an hour to Greystone for our 1 pm meeting. We waited for Elizabeth who met us 15 minutes late. We hardly got a dozen words in about the construction before we were met with a malicious attitude. She simply told us «I dont know how long the construction will take, when it will happen but it will be happening.» A good business person and coordinator would make any potential renter feel at ease and comfortable with the steps ahead. Instead, Elizabeth coldly said «If you have any hesitations, this isnt the venue for you. Keep looking.» Then escorted us out the door. My fiancé and I didn’t even have a chance to ask any questions before the door was slammed in our face. I am thankful this happened because I would have been so upset if we had already financially committed to this establishment. I am writing this so other brides will be wary of this venue. It is a shame because the people who really hurt are their clients and the approved vendors. Shame on Greystone.
