I love local hardware stores and this place has the feel of an old family favorite. I called one afternoon last week to ask if they had an item in stock — the staff member checked, and put the item on hold for me. By the time I got there, he had it at the front desk, ready and waiting. He was extremely helpful, answered all of my questions, and made my purchase quick and convenient (which, I appreciated since I had my small children with me). Thank you — I’ll be back!

I’m so loyal to local businesses like ACE Hardware. This location has a great family running the business as well as 2 adorable dogs that are always there to keep the customers company! The staff has always been super friendly and helpful when navigating around the store. Other then a couple misshaped keys that I had cut at this location I’ve always been very satisfied coming here. I have done transactions anywhere from just getting a key copied all the way to getting my lawn mower serviced /​repaired here (which I was extremely thankful for).
I will continue to do business at this location. Thank you.

Another avid DIY’er here who loves this place. I have come here for such a variety of items over the years that I keep expecting them not to carry what I need, but that hasn’t been the case! Their «house brand» paint is excellent quality and comes out spot on to the swatch, which is another thing I appreciate.
Have had some very random questions for these guys and have always gotten good advice – trick is to ask the owner who really knows her stuff!
The guys are helpful and will carry heavy items to your car.
Say hi to the sweet doggie as you head in to support your local business!

I’m an avid DIY’er in West Chester and I love supporting local businesses but I have to agree that the attitude at this store is terrible. Not only do they all seem cranky but I’ve been steered wrong when asking about tools or materials more than twice (even when calling ahead of time to ask if someone can help), so don’t think you can go here for some advice on your home project. Better off driving the extra distance to the HD. Hot tip: ALWAYS appreciate your customers, they do in fact have a choice.

When we first moved to West Chester, the employees in this local store (which seems to have everything I needed and things that I didn’t know I needed) were so friendly to me and my wife. They were actually the first people to welcome us here! The golden retriever Grace is a good dog and adds that local“family touch”.

So we ordered some pool sand online for store pickup. This was last Wednesdsy. Order tells us 2 – 7 days, no big deal. We call Friday and are told we need to wait for the next truck on Tuesday. Today we call again to find out if it’s in, and my husband is told we always stock that, why didn’t you just come in. Ugh, how annoying, we have been waiting for it to open our pool. The service wasn’t bad when we were there, but you would think someone would have given us this info before.

My Dad often visits this ACE Hardware. It is located near Bradford Plaza.
Dad carries biscuits in his pockets and Gracie, a golden retriever, follows him around.
My Dad has been in the hospital twice in 3 weeks. Imagine my surprise when a stranger pulls into my parents driveway. Helene, who works at ACE, had seen the ambulance in the driveway one night while driving past. She said she missed seeing my Dad and was delivering scones and cookies .
She said «This time Gracie is bringing Earl the biscuits.»
THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD SHOP LOCAL AND SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS!
I mean, really… this lady went to a bakery and made a delivery out of kindness for a customer.

I like to support smaller, local, family owned shops for all things. This Ace is right down the street from where I live, which makes it super convenient, but the attitude of the employees, most of which are part of the family which own the store, makes it worth often driving out of the way to the big box hardwares stores. Recently, there is a new gentleman working there who I do not believe is part of the family who is super friendly and helpful. So much so that he almost makes up for the smug demeanor of everyone else. I don’t think I’ve seen any of the family employees ever smile and the woman who is working there every day, usually at the register, makes is very apparent she has no desire to be there.

Have been used to superior service at the Ace Hardware store just a couple of miles away on Pocopson Rd. The service you get at this place makes it not worthwhile going back.
