Horrible service. The high school student at the desk was slow and had to ask his manager for help. While my twelve year old and I were waiting for our drinks, the manager went ahead and swore loudly, numerous times, while smoking inside the establishment. The lanes boasts ‘half off appetizers’ but the cook doesn’t show up till 6… and the three employees standing around can’t help you! Everything is very dirty, even the lanes are covered in food/garbage. The whole family needs to go take a shower now after being here! We only came here because it was in the Entertainment book… That was a coupon not worth using!

My first impression of the outside was WTF is this ghetto ass place, but. the inside was quite nice actually. They have a huge bar and tables to hang out at. The pizza was phenomenal! I had no idea that a bowling alley could produce something this dang good. The slice of orange in my Blue Moon was the size of my fist, but it was all good. Now let’s get to the lanes, well the leather couches(IKEA) were pretty awesome and that’s about it. The lanes were warped and my dates ball kept getting stuck(lol). We had to call the guy over at least 5 times to retrieve it from the back, and he pretty much hinted to get another ball at one point. The music came on around 11, classic rock, and I had a super fantastic time. I would for sure go back, if even just for the pizza.

I had a birthday party here, just because it was so close to my house. When I was 13, it was great. Now, however, I’ve learned better. Sylvan Lanes is very smoky, and is mostly visited by professionals or people in leagues. For some people looking to have fun and bowl, there are much nicer alternatives in Waterford, Commerce, Novi and Farmington.

I prob bowl here out of convenience more than anything else. It’s close to home, I have two friends that live close to me, and so we go here sometimes when we want to mix up our routine. Sylvan Lanes is your average bowling alley. If bowling alleys could be described like bars, then this would be your typical dive alley. I’ve never seen it fill up, so that’s a plus. If you might want to try and meet some people, Sylvan Lanes might not be your best option. It’s always really smoky, so that’s a minus, unless you like smoking, then it may be your plus. Anyway, it’s a good place to go with a few friends to bowl, maybe have a few drinks, and just chill out.
