Isadora’s Bed and Breakfast

Recently visited Isadora’s Bed and Breakfast when we were in the area for a wedding. We researched a few options, but this one was the closest and looked charming, so we figured we’d check it out.
We had to start our visit a little early due to the timing of the wedding, and Darrell was quick to reply that he’d be there and let us check in earlier than the usual time.
We got a tour of the house/​room and were on our way to the wedding.
The house is lovely with original details and a very well done restoration. There are four guest rooms and the owners live on site (which I learned was a rule for all B&Bs smaller than 10 rooms). The living room has some interesting wedding dresses on display (including a black one that has a story and pictures with it).
Our room was large, with an attached bathroom. The pictures online didn’t do it justice as the room was quite a bit more updated than I had seen online (new comforter, etc). The furniture was nice and there was ample room for seating, clothing storage, etc. The bathroom was also huge — which was great! Cool sink in there as well!
The room was clean and well taken care of. It had a bit of a pink theme, but not in an overly girly way.
We got back late and unfortunately, it turned out that we didn’t have the right key to the front door (oops) — and had to ring the bell. Darrell came down and really nicely let us in and was very pleasant about it. Overnight, the B&B is quiet and relaxing and thankfully well air conditioned as it was about 95 degrees the day we visited.
I enjoyed the library area with seating, movies and books to check out.
Breakfast the next morning was delicious with fruit, muffins and french toast and sausage. Very delicious (and plenty of it!). All of the rooms were taken, so we had an interesting breakfast chat with the other guests.
I sat a bit on the front porch before we left. The porch was relaxing — I wish I had gotten back earlier the night before to enjoy it with a snack and beverage.
There is coffee/​soda/​water all day in the dining room and I heard a rumor that they have dessert at night (but we missed that).
Definitely a great spot with friendly owners and a charming atmosphere. Well worth the visit for more charm over any local chain hotel that we would have stayed in (or a long drive home).

My husband and I just stayed here last weekend and I can’t say enough wonderful things about our stay! The home was breathtaking, inside and out. The pictures here on Trio Advisor don’t do it justice. The gardens were gorgeous and the rooms were cozy, clean, and the perfect mix of Victorian wonder meets modern comfort.
The hosts were perfectly lovely. We were initially greeted by Darrell who showed us the home and provided us with fantastic recommendations for dinner in the area. He was very sweet and was readily available for any questions we had regarding directions or events in the area.
In the morning, Darrell was joined by his wife Debbie and they together enchanted us with the story behind their business. From their love for hospitality which was ignited during their time as missionaries in Somalia, to their 15 yr journey of renovation with their old Victorian home, this couple clearly loves what they do. This emanates through how well they care for their guests, their home, and even their gardens.
And did I mention the breakfasts? If I could hire Darrell as my personal chef, I would! I also really appreciated that he was able to make gluten free pancakes on the spot, as I had forgotten to mention my dietary restrictions the night before. I’ve never had a host who was so happily accommodating before. I told him not to worry about changing the menu for me, but he insisted on making sure I was well fed.
This place is really a hidden gem in the middle of Wisconsin — I recommend it highly to anyone who is looking for a charming place to escape to for the weekend.

We stayed at the Bed & Breakfast this Labor Day weekend and this was our first B & B involvement. We were pleasantly overwhelmed by this place and its offerings.
Isadora is a great historic and elegantly decorated museum like place with only four moderately priced guest rooms! Outdoor patio swing & creative gardens are worth enjoying.
We savored our morning creative gourmet breakfast that varied each day. Evening dessert was a pleasant surprise. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable host gave us great dinner suggestions. We enjoyed nearby Riverside Brewery & Poplar Inn restaurants.

I stopped by here a couple of Sunday’s ago with my fiancé for the night. We were going to be in Milwaukee for the day and wanted a nicer place to stay for the night and happened to find this place. It ended up being a little bit of a drive but boy was it worth it.
The Inn owner, Darrell, called me at around 1 or so and asked what time we would be checking in. We ended up arriving around 8 PM or so with just a little bit of daylight left. The house was absolutely beautiful from the outside with a large yard that had beautiful flowers in many beds and very nice looking wrap around porch. We were greeted by Darrell as we walked in and given a tour of the house. Many of the pieces that they had in the house were pretty old especially in the parlor where I thought if I sat down that I would break something. Of course I am sure that was not the case and it was more of me not being used to having antiques around. A lot of the house was also decorated with antique wedding items/​dressing which Darrell’s wife likes to collect. He did mention to us that his daughter had just gotten married so it made sense to me. There is also a lot of cool history in this house about the first owner which I enjoyed reading about. By the time we were done looking around the house it was dark and so my fiancé and I headed up to our room which was nice and included a flat screen TV/​DVD player. They had a good selection of DVD’s for you to borrow and so we chose one and retired for the evening. The next morning we got up a little before breakfast and enjoyed coffee out on the wrap around porch. You could see the hustle and bustle of a main street nearby but we felt semi secluded from it and enjoyed all of the flowers in the gardens. After we were done we went inside for breakfast which consisted of Boiled Grapefruit, cranberry nut bread, sausage and grandmas french toast along with some OJ and more coffee. All of it was pretty good and I was stuffed by the time that we left.
The bottom line for me is that I would definitely stop back here again in the future. Darrell was nice, as was his house and food and so I would recommend this as a nice B & B if you are in the area.
