I absolutely love this bar!
Don’t let other reviews discourage you from stopping by Wally’s…Yes, they’ve had a bad rap in the past due to cleanliness issues and strange riffraff wondering about the premises, but they’ve really cleaned up their act!
It’s a great place to get a beer with friends, see a punk show, or just have coffee in the a.m.
Go down and find out for yourself, I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised in the best way!

Rude staff, filthy conditions, horrible neighborhood, and unsavory homeless people wandering the front entrance. If you go here get a tetanus shot first! Zero stars

My girlfriend and I were looking for some afternoon drinks. After being disappointed that most of the places we passed on wenatchee ave. Either were not open, or did not have a full bar, we reached wallys. I was a little nervous at first but was pleasantly surprised once walking in. Everyone was friendly the drinks were cheap and it was a great place to talk and drink for a few hours.

If I am in Wenatchee and for whatever reason need to meet someone for a beer… this is the place. It is an exemplary dive bar with cheap beers, interesting customers, sports on TV and live local music from time to time.
It’s also got a badass huge old neon sign attached to the front of the building… a beacon of booze to folks driving down Wenatchee Ave.

Was scared, but I was pleasently surprised!!! Cheep drinks. Good service. Very warm!!! Like I mean the heat was turned up on high!

Having grown up in the Wenatchee Valley, really put a sour taste in my mouth for the whole region, but there is one thing that I never tire of when in Wenatchee, and that is the seedy bar tour. Last week, I had the wonderful opportunity to present the seedy bar tour of the Wenatchee Valley to a number of friends currently living in the Seattle area. I decided to formalize the tour a little bit by printing out evaluation forms for everyone to rate their overall impression and specific impressions on Exterior, Dcor, Selection, Staff, and Clientle. This series of reviews does not encompass all of the information I got back, but just my impressions, as the notes were rather hastily scribbled and as the night went on and drinks were flowing failed to even get scribbled toward the end of the evening, so I shall only present my impressions of places and leave other avid Unilocalers to share their own. Our tour began on South Wenatchee Ave with Wally’s Tavern. Wally’s has a large welcoming neon and flashing light bulb sign out front with an arrow pointing the way into it’s shelter from the outside heat in the typical summer days of Wenatchee, or in the highly untypical event of rain, the sign also points the way to shelter… actually, it would also work in the event of nuclear fallout. That sign is just so inviting!
Upon entering, you are greeted with some kind of Latin American music. I’m not familiar enough with genres to identify it specifically, but to my untrained ear it sounded slightly more poppy than a typical Mariachi band.
The barstools and booths were upholstered in a sports themed cloth that appeared to have seen its wear from patrons. Cardboard cutouts of beer models adorn at least two different walls.
Three of the four televisions were all tuned to the same channel playing soccer. Wally’s has a pool table and a digital juke box in the back.
One entire wall was mirrored from about waste height up. I would describe the dcor as eclectic. The bathroom had all of the amenities that one expects to find in a bar bathroom, including a condom machine and a cologne machine stocked with Calvin Klein’s Obsession, Hugo Boss, and Tommy Boy. BEWARE THE COLOGNE MACHINE.
It seems like a really funny idea to plop in 25 cents and jam that plunger and get a little squirt of cologne. Your friends would think it’s funny, right? Well… the volume of cologne that comes out of that machine with the push of that plunger is somewhere between 2 ounces and 7 gallons. It’s not as funny as you think. And you have to smell like that until you find a different shirt. Press the plunger LIGHTLY!
I didn’t perform any testing with their condoms. I understand from others in the party that they had «Rough Rider» condoms and I understand from at least one girl in the party that those are good for rough rides, so I guess it’s not just a clever name.
The bartender was a rather obsequious fellow. He appeared a bit scared that we were a bunch of underage kids with fake ID’s which we all found really funny because the group ranged in age from late 20’s to early 30’s and we found it even more funny that he didn’t actually card us.
The clientle was quite diverse. There were a couple women of stature at the bar, one with the most incredible mullet I’ve witnessed in nary a year. There were a couple other people at the bar with them that appeared rather stand-​offish.
There was an older gentleman identified as «Bob» with quite a long beard and bald as a cue ball that struck up a conversation with an avid Unilocaler in the group, and appeared to have all kinds of stories. Adam will do them much more justice than I, as I wasn’t part of the conversation. There were a few other guys that seemed very interested in what we were doing there and why everyone was filling out paper as soon as we all sat down. Most of the crowd was very friendly, one fellow to an almost disturbing extent. He was identified as «Paco» but according to one of the two Spanish speaking participants in the event, he didn’t appear to speak Spanish, and looking at him, I would have guessed that he was of some sort of Asian descent, but it looked like he had a life of toil that made it rather difficult to to perceive with any degree of confidence. According to Bob, he was harmless. He sat down at our tables and paid a great deal of attention to two of the girls in the group. A few other guys also approached us and tried chatting up the girls. In general, it was a much more open and inviting bar than I expected.
The bar selection was pretty pitiful. It is definitely not a bar you go to for the variety. On tap, they have Budweiser and Budweiser. They have a reasonable macrobrew selection in bottles including a variety of Mexican beer, but nothing exotic by any stretch. I couldn’t tell if they had any food offerings, but if I had to guess, I would guess «No.»
On the whole, it’s a great place for what it is!
