Thongbai Thai Restaurant

I love this place. They dress in authentic Thai fashions. Food is so good and priced very well! They are friendly and welcoming!

Nice ambiance, ok food, and expensive prices.
We got the chicken satay, mussaman curry, and the pad see ew, plus a boba tea smoothie. The chicken satay was good with delicious peanut sauce smothered on the chicken, not on the side. The smoothie was pretty good (avocado green tea), but it does not have real avocado in it. (It’s a powdered mix…)
The mussaman curry flavor was good. There wasn’t enough sauce, though, and for around $ 15, was very small. The biggest issue with the dish was their potatoes. They were a weird, squishy, odd texture. My husband noticed first and then I found the same issue. We spoke to the older lady who appeared to be the owner about it. Her response was as follows:
They freeze the «fresh» potatoes and then heat them in the microwave! What the?! And yet, she still assured us that they were fresh in spite of describing their freeze and microwave processes! She cut into one that we were complaining about and agreed with us about the funky texture, yet all she said was she would tell the cook — no offer to replace the dish, re-​make the potatoes from actual fresh potatoes, nor take the cost off the bill. We had to ask for something, so the first thing I thought of was broccoli. She ended up giving us some steamed broccoli (that wasn’t even steamed fully) due to the potato issue. Kind of strange to me…
With regard to the pad see ew, I’ve had much better. The rice noodles were gummy and kind of shredded due to the texture. The flavor was alright, but needed some sauce. Overall, it was ok, but I would never recommend that dish. I would recommend the furry for the flavor — but skip the potatoes!
The other gal working was nice, but when I asked for some sauce for the dry noodle dish, she really wouldn’t do anything. I thought that maybe peanut sauce would help, but a small side was $ 3! So, even though their dish was lacking, they really wouldn’t fix it.
So, if in search of Thai food, I’d recommend trying some place else.

If you go before 4pm, you have to eat the buffet. Unfortunately we were dissapointed by the buffet. There are very few options and none of them are particularly good. The dinner menu, however, is excellent. We’ve never had any complaints about the pad thai, which is uniformly excellent. The bubble tea is delightful. Other meals are also very good. Service is always great, no matter whether you’re one person or a group.

This restaurant has a great lunchtime buffet. I am truely a fan of options and they always do a great job with glowing smiles on their faces! Kudos

Flat out love this place! The food, people and attention to detail are top notch! Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

My family was visiting Wenatchee and had one of our all time favorite Thai meals here this week. We have been eating Thai food for 30 years and this restaurant is our new favorite. The Tom Kha soup and curry dishes were amazing. The staff was delightful. I highly recommend this place.

This is the best restaurant in Wenatchee!!! The food is awesome, service is great, and the lady that runs this place is the sweetest. I call my order in for lunch (Chicken Pad Thai, spicy 3) and she immediately knows my name. I love this place. I go here at least once a week.

Excellent food and atmosphere. The Pad Asparagus was wonderful last night and my husband loves the Pad Thai with Chicken. The quality too is superb no matter what they make from what I’ve experienced. I sometimes want to eat light and their small salads are a good portion and served along with some Tempura Prawns or Chicken skewers with peanut sauce make a very nice meal at a reasonable price.

Service was wonderful! The ladies were very attentive and kind. They wore traditional garments as well.
The fresh rolls were actually tastes fresh! The peanut sauce may have been a little strong on the vinegar/​acidic side but was tasty nonetheless.
The star system always seems to vary but this place definitely leans toward a more mild side. I ordered yellow curry medium with shrimp and there was no heat. So if you like it spicy, order four or five stars.
I ordered a coconut bubble tea. Tasted great!
The location is easily navigable on the avenue and there is ample street parking. The restaurant is clean and is even lightly decorated for Halloween with tasteful decorations.

Delicious lunch buffet! Very fresh salad and entrée selections. The food is a bit mild for my taste (I like it SPICY!), but there are condiments that you can add to spice it up. The prices are so reasonable, the staff pleasant and attentive and the décor is really cute. I’ll definitely be back.

The owners are very hands on here, often seating patrons, and working the kitchen. The food is very authentic, spicy, and flavorful. Portions are fair, and the pricing is very reasonable.

Everything was freshly made! Loved it. Everything I wanted & more foodwise… the bathroom situation was a bit odd…& no AC in the restaurant… the food made up for it though & the have a great 6.95 lunch buffet!

We were driving to Osoyoos, decided to stop for lunch at Wenatchee, reviews were good, the entrance look good but as soon as you enter the finish and the ambience was disappointing, therefore thad to take off one star. The waiter, was pleasant, seated us right away, it was not too busy, she took her orders right away and the food arrived fairly quickly. Not the most well presented but I would not expect much for a small town. Ordered pad Thai for the kids, Tom Yum soup, Drunken noodles with tofu, pad prik king with vegetables. They were able to make it without fish sauce. Pad Thai was fairly bland, vegetables (no coconut milk) was excellent, the noodles were really delicious. The owner was very pleasant, Smiled a lot. decent pit stop for vegetarians.

Excellent food and service for VERY reasonable prices.
My wife is Thai, so we have been to many Thai restaurants all over the USA. It is really wonderful to find a place of this caliber in Wenatchee of all places! Our host and waitress was also the owner and was so friendly and gracious.
We had the Phad Kee Mao (drunken noodles), Phad Krapao and Tom Yum Goong (hot and sour soup) and split some sticky rice with mango for dessert.
Everything was definitely top notch and as authentic as we can ever find in the states. The place is clean (which goes a LONG way with us) and attractively decorated as well.
Five Stars for Thongbai.

Not having eaten much Thai food, but really liking it, I was eager to try this place. We were a group of four and each ordered something different. After reading the reviews I decided to try the pineapple fried rice. It was good, but I found it to be a little bland. The pad thai, on the other hand was very good. Very flavourful and fresh. I got 2 out of 4 stars for heat and found that to be just a little hot and wished I’d gone for 3 stars. My co-​worker got the 4 star pad thai and was
sweating. All in all it was a good meal.

That is the worst Phad Thai I have ever had. It had no flavor the noodles were wrong it was BAD
I knew that moving back to the valley that there would be sacrifices but I didn’t count on it being bad Thai Food. I honestly don’t know how this place has positive reviews.

Really disappointing experience overall. Probably the worst Thai food I’ve ever had with the exception of the fried spring rolls, which were tasty.
Myself and two companions were on our way back from climbing and stopped here to pick up some curries and pad thai. I had the green curry, which was watery, bland, and over-​cooked, with tough, low quality beef, cubed bamboo shoots (who does that?), and way too much rice compared to the rest of the food — but really, too much food altogether because I could only finish half of it due to its taste before giving up despite still being quite hungry. My companions reported similar experiences with a «bland and uninspired» pad thai and an «unemulsified oil» pineapple curry that reminded us of cheap Chinese buffet food. Getting two stars instead of one because the fried roll appetizer was decent and the staff were nice, but we will not be coming back here again.
We’re pretty confused since there are so many good reviews for this place, but our experience was so, so bad.

Everyone was raving about the owner so I was hoping to get to meet her — I was not disappointed. She is such a sweet sweet lady. The restaurant isn’t much to look at when you walk in, seems like a great candidate for a make over. Also, the air wasn’t working (or they don’t have air conditioning) so it was a bit hot, but that didn’t stop me from ordering my favorite soup — Tom Yum Goong. My dinner and all the tastes I had from around our very large table were delicious! Everything tasted fresh, service was prompt and so very very friendly and the location convenient if you’re in downtown. I will happily return next time I’m visiting the area!

Who would have thought such a great Thai restaurant would be found in the middle of Washington state. While on business in Wenatchee, my group decided to eat at the Thongbai Thai Restaurant in downtown Wenatchee. What a great choice.
As we walked in, we were immediately greeted and asked what our seating preference was. The hostess lead us to our table. Nicely decorated restaurant, heavy cloth napkins and decorative bamboo placemats. I initially wanted to order iced tea, but our waitress suggested I try the Thai Tea. Excellent choice. I had never had it before, but from now on, whenever I eat at a Thai restaurant, this is the drink.
For the meal, I chose a simple sweet and sour chicken. It quickly arrived and was a full large plate, with a large helping of sticky rice in the middle. With the sauce, the peppers and onion added to the excellent flavor. The chicken was cooked just right, with just enough breading to be crispy and light. My tablemates food was excellent by their standards as well. The only complaint I heard from them was it could have been spicier. Next time they will order it a little spicier.
The final touch was the fortune cookie, but not the normal cookie. This was more of a rolled cookie with the fortune printed on parchment rolled inside. The cookie alone is worth coming back for.
This is a great restaurant. Clean, nicely furnished, excellent service, and great food.

Tried the Pad Thai. I realize this makes me a Thai version of a gringo, but I realized I’ve never ordered Pad Thai from a Thai place. That being said… It was worth it!
Owner is very friendly, and employees seem happy and make you feel they might be glad you are there. Hot tea was scorching! Perfect.
