Business Owner

Dr. Lynn Wittman graduated valedictorian from the New England College of Optometry in 1976. She taught at the New England College of Optometry for several years and worked at various clinics and health centers around Boston.

Dr. Wittman was granted Fellowship from the American Academy of Optometry in 1986. She left the MIT eye clinic in 2000 to devote her energies to private practice with Dr. Gilman. Dr. Wittman has served as the President of the Alumni Association of the New England College of Optometry and is currently the Middlesex District Chair for the Massachusetts Society of Optometry.

Dr. Wittman enjoys spending time in New Hampshire with her family. She has one son.

Look no further, this place is the best.
Dr. Wittman checks my eyes so carefully my glasses are always perfect.
I have had a few minor eye problems and Dr. Wittman once had me email a photo of my eye
to her at night, no one else would have done that. They also have very high tech equipment that photographs the back of the eye– retina, macula, so you get a very thorough exam.
The optometry department has great glasses and I got my new glasses in just four days.
The office is beautiful and clean and tons of free parking in the back.
I am a long time patient and all the people that work at Newton Eye are experts at what they do and they also happen to be the nicest people as well.

I’ve actually been a patient/​customer for years and the eye docs and technicians are fine. Unfortunately the admin/​front off seem to struggle with repeatable tasks like booking appointments that it’s simply not worth the effort. It shouldn’t feel like we’re landing a missile when ordering contact lenses either. Multiple times I’ve called to book appointments and been disconnected or told to call back at a better time for the front desk.

I have been going to NewtonEye for the last 3 years. Dr. Whitman is wonderful and the entire team is amazing! They are very thorough, informative and really want you to have the best eye care. I was recently fitted for contact lenses and i have a challenging prescription. They were patient, ordered multiple trials and made sure I have the best lenses for my eyes. They also have great selection of glasses.

I came in today to get my glasses fixed. The woman that fixed them was very nice and helpful. The woman at the front desk was not. Very nasty and rude. She told me she could help me although all she helped me with was realizing how much I don’t want to return here again. Between her and Pat this place is nothing but horrible. If you want to go to a place where they make you feel stupid and are rude to you go for it.

99 Problems but eyeglasses aint one.
Great people at this facility. From the technician, to the optometrist to the office manager and the young lady who helped us select a pair of glasses.
Prompt and extremely friendly. I’m a new patient and liked my previous doctor so my expectations were big. They exceeded them in all aspects.
Both wife and I needed a check up and new glasses and we successfully did it under an hour and a half with two kids in tow.
Dr Mercuri is great. She’s was efficient and patient with all of my questions.
Wife is super selective and found a pair of glasses. Me not so much but still found a swanky pair.
FYI — new folks, parking is in the back so you don’t have to worry about meters. And they have weekend hours.
I’d post a pic of me wearing my glasses when I pick them up. But I won’t because I don’t want to break the Internet.

LOVE this practice! I have been seeing Dr Whittman for over 15 years in three different locations. I will follow her anywhere. My whole family goes to this practice and we have been very impressed with the professionalism of all members of the staff. From the reception desk to the clinicians. Dr Whittman is especially a gem. She has a great sense of humor and puts me at ease every time I’m there. I can’t imagine going anywhere else.

Happy with my experience at Newton Eye. Good location, plenty of parking, and friendly staff. My appointment was on time and proceeded without delay. As a first time patient, I was in and out within 40 minutes. However I did not feel rushed and all my questions were answered.

I first began seeing Dr. Wittman before the office moved to its current Wellesley location. I have always felt that I got good care, that my questions were answered, and that I got practical advice on which types of glasses were appropriate as eyes change over the years. There is a history of glaucoma in my family. I always choose to pay the out-​of-​pocket fee for the machine that can take a picture of the retina (versus having my eyes dilated which lengthens the appointment and alters what I do the rest of the day) I truly don’t like to have my eyes dilated, and I appreciate they have this option. For those who are more cost-​conscious you can choose to have your eyes dilated. I highly recommend Dr. Wittman and NewtonEye. While I have historically seen Dr. Wittman, I would be equally comfortable seeing one of the other optometrists if needed.

After moving to MA two years ago, I was searching for an eye doctor. I started with one in Natick, but was displeased after a year of visits. So after searching my insurance and Unilocal reviews, I ended up here.
I couldn’t be happier. For my first visit, it was easy to schedule, and I was seen before my appointment time. Most importantly, Dr. Luu retested some things a few times because of strange results. She was concerned and took the time to redo things –and give thoughts/​ideas for the future care.
I didn’t look for frames or lenses that day, but the selection looked great.
I would highly recommend!

Dr. Luu takes such great care during exams and is very kind. Refilling contacts is a piece of cake and Pat sets me up with a few backup contact lenses if she has them on hand when I’ve left ordering to the last minute. And despite that their eyeglass selection is not as staggering as some of the ‘big guys,’ I have twice found frames that are perfect for me within minutes. Very pleased that Newton Eye is within walking distance of me.

Dr Wittman knows her stuff and cares about her patients. She and her staff gather all the info needed to provide excellent eye care, and they listen to my concerns and answer my questions. She is thoughtful, consoling and also very funny; my visits always go by quickly.
Traffic on Washington St in Wellesley is always very busy, but they have a huge parking lot with frequent turnover so I’m always able to find a space. Their office is on the 1st floor and is wheelchair accessible, but some of the rooms with exam equipment are pretty small-​getting a large wheelchair in might be challenging. They are going to be renovating soon, so I’ll see if its improved next visit.
I got the glasses frames I wanted 3 years ago, and even though I’m now out of style they have gone out of their way to get new lenses that fit my frames. At the front desk and in the Opticians corner they help me navigate the insurance maze to get the best prices. NewtonEye is a great team.
