History

Established in 2013.

In 1979 my father (Randy Karsjens) opened Backyard Body and Paint at this very location. After a few years he closed the shop and went on to manage some of the larger shops in Des Moines. In 1995 he purchased East Green Collision Center in Winterset Iowa. I worked for him until 2008 at which time I pursued a career in law enforcement. Randy passed away in 2011 and I purchased his acreage on his estate sale. I shortly left on my 4^th deployment and upon my return in 2013, I decided to re-​open Backyard Body and Paint in homage to my father. So there’s the story behind the name.

Scott has 18 years experience in the collision repair industry and a career in the US Army/​Iowa National Guard spanning 19 years of combined service. His past certifications include: PPG certified Master, PPG basics of custom painting, House of Kolor basics of custom painting and ASE collision repair 1.
