Abra Kid Abra

I had my son’s 1^st birthday here and it was a HUGE success. I love to plan a party and wanted to make sure fun could be had by all ages. Who doesn’t love a little magic, right? The guests included 75 people: 50 adults and 25 kids. No problem with space, but I was super worried about it before the event. We did bring in about 10 extra chairs so all the adults could have a seat. The kids sat on the floor.
The party started with 30 minutes of bounce houses. There are 3. One is an obstacle course and the other two are your standard bounce house with a basket ball net and a couple foam balls. The obstacle course was the favorite and had a line of kids patiently, waiting for their turn.
The next 30+ minutes was the magic show. The kids were so engaged and Jeff, the magician, did a fantastic job of reading his audience. Even his toughest customers were eventually drawn in. I cannot tell you the number of parents that texted, emailed, called and wrote me notes to let me know how much fun the kids had. Isn’t that what it’s all about? The kids having fun and seeing their faces light up!
After the magic show, the kids had a magic workshop and the magician showed them how to do some of the tricks. Needless to say, this was another big hit. Again, I had countless parents send pictures of their «magicians» putting on a show over the next few days.
While the kids attended the workshop, the adults ate. Then the kids ate, so it worked out well to have 2 shifts. We had the party catered and the food tables were set up by Abra Kid Abra before hand, as I had requested. The kids received Goodie Bags compliments of Abra Kid Abra. The Goodie Bags contain 5 magic tricks.
After dinner, we sang Happy Birthday and then my baby boy got his smash cake. Again, Abra Kid Abra was very accommodating.
A few days before the event, the magician called to go over EVERY detail of the party. This was very helpful. We were on the same page.
Some extras that I did, but are not necessary: ordered magic wands, magician hats, magic tattoos, invisible ink and personalized M&M’s on line to add to the Goodie Bags provided by Abra Kid Abra. I asked Dierberg’s to make fruit kabobs with a pineapple in the shape of a star on the end. Some stars had sprinkles, some did not. I also had signs made to put at the corners of Brentwood and Atalanta, Atalanta and Lafayette and at the Parking Lot entrance to indicate more parking behind the building.
I am very pleased with Abra Kid Abra’s attention to detail and willingness to accommodate our large group in order to make the party a success. The greatest compliment I can give them is to share the testament of a 7 year old attendee, «I want to have my birthday party at Abra Kid Abra.»

We had our 5 year old’s birthday party here. The bounce house prelude to the magic show was long enough to get the kids settled down but not so long that kids were getting loopy. Dan the Magic Man was very good with this age group including some sleight of hand that surprised everyone. The magic show was a hit and also was just the right length. After cake Dan made balloon dogs for all the kids. I do think they need a rubber mat at the exit if the bouncey obstacle course, the kids were slipping on the tile floor as they jumped out, but no one fell, luckily. All in all a great party.

My twins and their friends had a great time at Abra-​Kid-​Abra to celebrate their 5^th birthday. Jeff could not have been more helpful, accommodating and professional in all of our communications leading up to the party. Our event was handled by Dan the Magic Man who was great with all of the kids. They got to bounce for about 30 minutes and then they have all the kids sit down for the magic show, which was perfect. They were just worn out enough to sit and watch the magic tricks, and Dan included several kids from the audience as assistants. Then they showed the kids how do some tricks at home on their own using the items in the goody bag that each kid received. The goody bag included 4 – 5 tricks plus each child also got a hat and a magic wand.
Then we went into the party room that they already have decorated for you, to sing and have cake. Everything went very smoothly and kept the kids engaged and entertained. Many of the parents commented to me at the party as well as days later how great of a party it was, that their kids had so much fun, and they were having fun at home showing off their new magic skills. I would highly recommend having your kids party here, so much fun for the kids, and easy for the parents.

I would NOT have your birthday party here. The place was an absolute mess. They could not find the party supplies, they were late getting there to open up and the magician was hard for the kids to understand. The place itself was such a dump — there was stuff EVERYWHERE and it was embarrassing to have other parents see this place. When I tried to contact the owner after the event, to relay my disappointment and feedback, he did not respond. Oh, and they promised a «goody bag» which was a brown paper bag with mostly coupons in it! I hardly call that a goody bag for 5 year olds!
