Chuck & Don’s

When I first visited this Chuck & Don’s, I had a black lab who had been newly diagnosed with bone cancer, and it had been suggested that we change his diet to remove grains and add more protein & omega 3s. I was also interested in switching my other dog’s food from Pro Plan to something more nutritious and grain-​free as well. When I walked in, I was greeted immediately by one of the staff and they asked me if I needed help finding anything… so I told them what brought me in. He then proceeded to take me through the different aisles of food and pointed out all of the different grain-​free options and provided a bit of information about each of them. With his help, we went through the different lists of ingredients and I eventually settled on Nutrisca grain-​free and potato-​free dog food for my beagle (Haley) and a couple of other options to try for my lab (Jack). While I was paying, another staff member wrote down the name and number of a veterinarian who specializes in canine oncology and gave it to me when she helped me carry the food out to my car. I thought that was really sweet.
Unfortunately, Jack is no longer with us, but I still feed Haley Nutrisca to this day. She loves it (especially the salmon flavor), and while It’s a little more expensive than some, it is worth the money because ever since I switched to it (about 3 years ago), I’ve found that she doesn’t need as much food to satisfy her… so it lasts a lot longer because she’s getting the nutrition she needs with less «filler»! She’s almost 8 now, and she still acts like a puppy sometimes :) I like to think that with the help of Chuck & Don’s we’ve kept Haley happy and healthy (and maybe added a couple more years to her life)!

I LOVE Chuck & Don’s. When we lived downtown we went to the Uptown location. Now that we are in the burbs, we hit up the Wayzata C&D. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable and the store is well-​stocked with premium food options, toys, beds, and all the other pet gear you could/​would need. I have found the employees especially helpful with pet food selection for our new puppy and our finicky older cat. They even said that if the food doesn’t work out, bring half the bag back and try something new — How cool!
