I have eaten at Scotto’s three times in the past few months. The staff is friendly, and we haven’t had to wait for a table. I’ve had the butternut squash supremo(pretty good), eggplant Parmesan(average), and veggie lasagna(average-veggies undercooked and sparse). French bread is provided for the table. The Parmesan peppercorn dressing is delicious(best thing I’ve had there!) Overall, this restaurant is okay but not great. It’s a cozy local place, but we probably won’t be going often. At our latest visit: My son ordered a chicken and fries kids meal which came with only two small tenders. My husband and I weren’t very hungry, so we decided to share an entrée. When we got our bill we realized we had been charged a fee for sharing(there may have been fine print on the menu; I just didn’t notice it). Also, my husband asked for his drink to go and was told it was 35 cents for a cup. For the price, value, and taste there are definitely better options.

I have been coming to Scotto’s since I was knee high to a grasshopper. I’ve moved around the country and without fail, when I come back to visit the family, I make us(at gunpoint if necessary — though it has never come close to that) go to Scotto’s. I am a huge fan of their pizzas. It is the best NY style pepperoni and anchovy(yes, I am one of those) pizza I have had to date. I am qualified to say that because I have had pizza from all over the US, including NY. I still like Scotto’s better. I don’t care if it is the nostalgia tied to every bite or what — that jank is delicious!

Typical old school-been around forever-local yokel red sauce Italian place in Waynesboro that apparently has been serving it up for over twenty years. Places like this always concern me because they seem to either go one of two ways: A. They really are THAT good which is why they’ve been around a long time. B. The local clientele that keeps the place open is delusional and has come to accept mediocrity because«Hey, they’ve been here forever so it’s a tradition» or something of the sort. As an outsider I’ve got no hangups about tradition as we came here simply looking for a meatless Lenten Friday meal. Seating: When we entered the place was packed with maybe three or four open tables but thankfully we scored one so all was good. Service: Here’s where things fell apart. We waited somewhere between ten to fifteen minutes before our server came for our drink order then each step of the process thereafter also took an equal eternity. Part of that was clearly because they were really busy, part of it seemed like they were short staffed but the most damning part of the delays were from too much fraternizing with«the regulars» of which this place seemingly has many. While it’s great that Earl & Flo come for cheesesteaks, wings & beer every Friday it leads to lots of BSing with the staff which again only slows things down even more. Food: The fettuccine alfredo was deemed very good and the pizza was I guess slightly on the better side of average. Decent cheese blend but the pie was short on sauce and very bizarrely cut. I can’t say that I’ve seen many places take your typical 16 inch pizza that usually comes with eight larger slices and slice it into twelve very, very thin/small pieces. I guess that was alright but honestly it just looked goofy. Overall the food was maybe three and a half to four stars but between the woefully slow/inattentive service along with(to a much lesser degree) there being no signage or explanation that you don’t pay your server I would be hard pressed to go more than three stars. I suppose if I were a local and«knew the ropes» maybe things like that wouldn’t bother me but they do and that’s why the verdict is only three stars.

What a find! This old school Italian restaurant is a treasure. The care for creating perfection is seen in the deeply flavored, unexpected aromas of recipes handed down for generations and a disciplined staff who are true to the owner’s vision of excellence. You would expect to pay much more in New orleans, Boston, or San Francisco for this level of quality. Those who don’t understand this kind of food may be disappointed that it isn’t more Americanized. Those who do will know this is an unexpected gem of a restaurant worth driving for. The Scallops Carbanero, the«NOT plain tomato sauce», the perfected meatballs rich in flavor yet mild and deeply satisfying don’t happen by accident. It takes YEARS to develop this level of artistry. Do yourself a favor and try food you will savor and remember.

We arrived at the Hampton Inn in Fishersville, Virginia at 7:30PM. While in this remote area, there were no restaurants open so we ordered delivery from Scotto’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria. We ordered Lentil soup, Caprese salad, Gorgonzola salad(small), House salad with chicken(large). The total check was $ 26.24. Although we did not receive paper plates and extra napkins as requested, everything we ordered was very good. No rolls or bread was provided. Allow 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Takeout or delivery recommended if in the Fishersville /Waynesboro, Virginia area.

Average food. Above average prices. Below average service. Food lacked flavor and service was very slow. Disappointed.

We tried out the new Delivery service they are offering here now. The food arrived hot and fresh! Our fried cheesecake was still very hot. The salad was incredibly fresh and had plenty of all the ingredients and was not skimpy by any means. One of the coolest things-they can deliver wine and beer along with your food! What a refreshing addition to otherwise meagre food delivery options in Waynesboro. We are pleased!

Great local Italian spot, pasta to pizza! White pizza is great, the pasta dishes outstanding. Feel free to tweak the orders, they accommodate every time were there!

I like supporting local businesses and so I hate that I can only give Scotto’s two stars but it’s all they really deserve. It’s not that Scotto’s is not good Real Italian food(one has to go to Italy for that) it’s that they don’t even serve good American-Italian food. Tonight I had their lasagna and my wife tried their eggplant Parmesan. Neither one was bad. They just weren’t good. Both lacked any flavor. Both were pretty bland. To get real flavor into these dishes you need really good, and expensive, cheese and we didn’t taste the flavor of good cheese. Plus, it was a bit pricy for what we got. $ 11 and $ 12. Plus $ 2 for a side salad out of a bag. The service was good but not the food. We left completely full but not at all satisfied. We’ve been to Scotto’s before, always coming back so as to give them another chance. Sad to say, this was their last chance.

My husband and I make a point of eating at local places when we travel. This one was excellent — service, food, location. The owner happened to be there and chatted with us for a few minutes. It was a delightful experience and I recommend this restaurant for anyone near the southern end of Skyline Drive through Shenandoah National Park.

Good solid Italian food, convenient location. We travel to Waynesboro several times a year, but hadn’t tried Scottos until it was recommended by a friend. The restaurant was very quiet on a Thursday night, but the food was good as well as the service. I will eat there again.

Compared to Papa Johns this is great. Compared to some other local pizza places like Giovanni’s it doesn’t measure up.

Love their Stromboli & calzones, and their chicken parmesean. The restaurant is an old pizza hut & still looks the same as it did back in the ’70’s, but it has a nice enough atmosphere & is clean. We have always had friendly wait staff here, and have never been kept waiting. The only thing that bothered us is that once my husband had to send a soft drink back because it tasted strange(I tried it and agreed); but the Italian chef(owner? not sure) sent it right back & said there wasn’t a problem with it. lol! He is lucky we have a sense of humor, or we would really gig them hard for that indiscretion. Let’s at least try to pretend that the customer is always right, shall we? Other than that tiny thing, everyone here has always made our food with any specifications we have asked for, and they have a big variety of tasty dishes on offer that have never disappointed us. We go back often, and never leave hungry due to their generous serving sizes, which make their prices especially good since you will likely have left-overs for later!

I have made the attempt more than several times with Scottos. It’s not so authentic, a lot if it is brought in. The cannoli shells were so hard last night they weren’t even edible. The not so plain sauce is pretty plain. Reduce the menu! Pizza’s soggy every time. Being Italian & eating here disappoints!

We both had the baked ziti. It was good enough with huge portions. The service was friendly and attentive.

Get the house dressing, a tasty garlic Parmesan peppercorn, or the pesto Caesar. I tried the ultimate man-dish. They call it an Italian blossom pie. It’s ziti baked with three kinds of meat, swimming in their zesty house tomato sauce & topped with a heavy layer of mozzarella and pepperoni. Desserts looked good, but we were too stuffed.

I really wanted to like this place because it’s a local mom and pop joint. Service was really good and the waitress was very pleasent and cheerful. The food on the other hand, wasn’t all that. It was the type of food that it drowned in sauce to cover something. Chef Ramsay would have been very disappointed.

After being completely surrounded by chain restaurants, Scotto’s stood out as the anti-establishment. Not to mention there were 20+ people standing outside and waiting(Tough Mudder weekend). The extensive menu ping pongs from pasta and pizzas to burgers and philly steaks. We started with the black n’ tan onion rings which the menu said would be the best we’ve ever tasted which ended up falling more into the«decent» category. We tried the pasta portofino with their famous Supremo sauce and the Pizza a la Scotto with the white sauce. All was palatable, but not the delicious and savory break-from-the-traditional-food-chain glory that we were hoping for. As a mom and pop shop I really reaal really(x5) wanted the restaurant to be fantastic, but ended up below expectations.

The food was good, but maybe only because I was starving by the time I ate… When we arrived, the manager told us there would be a 20 – 30 minute wait. The hostess sat 2 couples that arrived after us, so my husband talked to the manager, who made sure that a table was cleared for us within another 5 minutes. Total wait time: 1 hour. We’re pretty hungry and annoyed by the time we’re seated, but have looked over the menu, so pretty much know what we want. We wait 10 minutes for a waitress to take our drink order(pink lemonade & water). And another 10 to receive our drinks. My husband never receives the salad we order, as our waitress doesn’t return until she brings our entrees(meat lasagna and spinach ziti) with bread 20 minutes later. I do manage to ask for some parmesan which she promptly brings, but we don’t see her again until we ask another waitress to have her bring our check. We tell the manager about the forgotten salad(at least she didn’t put it on the bill) and he just says it’s a busy Saturday night. I know this isn’t a five star restaurant, but I was expecting a free dessert or at least a heart felt apology; customer service is definately something they need to work on.
