The staff is the reason to go here. They love having you and will bend over backwards to ensure your meal is great. The food is pretty good and it is the hot spot for going out in Waynesboro. I know people who frequent this place from Shepherdstown so it is a destination to try.

We have had sushi in supposed world class places in Hawaii(where there were many Japanese people surrounding us) and I can honestly say I think Sapporo was just as good. Actually better because it was much less expensive. Also, when you walk in the door you are enthusiastically greeted, and Nikki makes you feel like family. Even if you don’t like sushi you will find the cooked fish far superior to any place locally, even better than the Legal Seafood found in DC or Boston. My son’s GF is vegetarian and she found plenty to eat also. In addition, as long as you can prove you are not under age, they allow you to bring your own alcohol… wine, beer and will even cork the bottle, bring you wine glasses and pour it for you.(I never actually let them serve us our own wine/beer, but I see them doing it for other tables) It can be both casual and dressy… sometimes I make it a really special evening and dress nicely, other times we run in on a whim, dressed very casually. They even have a room to the side for large parties of 6 or more. Even if you don’t like/or are afraid of sushi, I would give Supporo a try.

The service is great and the sushi is decent. I’ve had better sushi but to have a Japanese restaurant in Waynesboro is great.

My boyfriend and I had an excellent experience! We were greeted and seated very quickly. The miso soup tasted great. I got the Spicy Salmon Roll and he got the Spicy Crab Roll. My salmon roll was a pretty spicy, but it was very good! It was a little«warm» — but I like my sushi ice cold. He liked his crab roll. Then we got our salads — they too were very tasty. Then our entrees came — he ordered Salmon Teriyaki and I ordered Chicken Teriyaki. I accidentally ended up with Beef Teriyaki, but it was still very tasty — as was the Salmon. The lady serving us was very apologetic about the mistake and more than made it right on our check. We will definitely be returning for the great food, great service, and great people! Thanks Sapporo!

We wandered into Sapporo while in town and, being huge fans of Asian cuisines of all types(we regularly will drive up to 2 hours just to eat at some of our favorite places), we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and service. Food was fantastic overall, with our favorite item being the gop-dol bi bim bob, one of our favorite Korean dishes. Quality and speed of service were also stellar! It was a nice surprise to find such authentic Asian cuisine so close to home, rather than near a big city. Waynesboro has quite the gem in Sapporo!

This place is really awesome. So glad Waynesboro is finally getting restaurants that are of quality and not hole in the wall pre made foods from the fryer. The service is fantastic, food quality and presentation is top notch. I have been to some of the top rated sushi and sashimi places on this coast and they have beat in a few. not sure what people on here are talking about the quality or price because the quality is amazing and the prices are very reasonable. I chalk it up to the area. People here like buffets and the least expensive food they can find and they base there opinions on that alone. try this place, you will not be disappointed

I love stopping by for great sushi and even better Korean food. Owners are friendly, wonderful people and treat every customer like a friend. This really is the kind of place you should drive out of your way to visit. Just a heads up though, make reservations on Fridays and Saturdays. Fills up quick during peak hours.

Sushi is my vice and I always stop at Japanese restaurants to try what they have to offer. I’ve eaten at many restaurants and I can honestly say that Sapporo’s sushi is some of the best I’ve ever had! So fresh and so well-rolled. It’s amazing that this hidden gem is in Waynesboro! The customer service is stellar! Can’t wait to go back and try everything on the menu! Good prices also.

This place is a gem for Waynesboro. The menu is extensive. You must try the spicy calamari as an appetizer, we order it every time. Sushi is high quality, flavors are on point. BYOB establishment. Owners are quite friendly. Only complaint is that the service can be quite slow if there is more than a few tables.

Love this restaurant! The food is delicious and the owners are so friendly and upbeat. Nikki will remember your name, and be so kind the second time you come back. Another plus is that It is all BYOB, so you can save some money by bringing your own bottle of wine. It is street parking, but there is always room to park! As a vegetarian, I love the sweet potato tempura rolls, and the vegetable Korean dish. Plus, some of the best miso soup I’ve ever had! Definitely the best restaurant in Waynesboro and worth a stop!

Really enjoyed the sushi. We had take out so the dinners didn’t seem as good I think because we weren’t there in the atmosphere to enjoy. We will eat in next time. I would like to suggest maybe offering delivery at least during specifics times on the weekends maybe. Definitely a thumbs up and one to try.

I went to Sapporo for lunch on a Saturday with my daughter and we both ordered the bibimbap in a stone pot. The food was excellent and the portion was very large. We were very pleased with the experience. The Korean staff were very friendly and helpful.

Sapporo is easily the best restaurant in the area, and I’ll explain why: The service is out of this world. The owners are some of the most friendly, helpful individuals I have ever met. Nikki is one of the owners and the main server in this small establishment. She loves to strike up conversation, and is a genuinely kind, caring woman. My fiancé and I visit Sapporo a couple times each month, and she remembers us every single time and makes us feel so welcome and special. She even played a popular Korean wedding song throughout the restaurant in honor of us becoming engaged – wow. The servers have no problem answering questions – about the menu, their culture, the restaurant – anything! The food is always served promptly, and the dishes are typically gorgeously plated – especially the sushi rolls. Now, on to the food. We’re in Pennsyltucky, so decent sushi is pretty difficult to find. I have to say that Sapporo’s sushi beats anything in the surrounding towns – even Hagerstown. I can’t say the fish is the same quality as expensive NYC or DC joints, but nonetheless, the rolls taste excellent. They have a nice variety on their menu, including traditional Japanese and Korean dishes. I personally love the bibimbap, spicy tuna tartare, and the beef/asparagus appetizer. Give this restaurant a try for yourself! Take comfort in the cozy atmosphere and eat some tasty food that you won’t find anywhere else in the area.

The staff at Sapporo were super friendly. My husband and I sat at the sushi bar, because it is a small location, and there aren’t may tables. The sushi chef /owner took great care of us. He even gave us a little extra for free! We would go there more often, if there was more dining room.

A very nice Japanese restaurant in Waynesboro-who would’ve thought? Visited this past weekend. I had the galbi – the beef was tender and tasty. For appetizers, we had the beef/asparagus app, and the spicy calamari. Also very good. Prices were very reasonable. The sushi rolls that passed by our table were works of art. Our waitress was wonderful and a lot of fun. I hope this place does well; if word gets out, they should be able to attract customers from the area. It’s worth the trip, and unfortunately, I don’t think it’ll survive just from the locals.

I’m a huge Beef Bulgogi fan and I was looking forward to it since Waynesboro’s selection of decent places to eat is limited. Usually have to drive 20 – 30 min for some sushi as well. The food was great. The service was a little slow but it looked like a busy night and they were very friendly so it wasn’t anything really to complain about. It’s pretty small, which is nice. Gives it that family, personal, «Cheers» type of environment. My only real complaint was the serving size of the Bulgogi. For the price I wish you got a little more. Everything else tasted great and like everyone else I’m just happy there’s another place to eat in this small town!
