We used to come here a few years back and the food was good, however, and I hate to say it has truly gone down hill. The food quality was awful and extremely overpriced. What a shame.

I REALLYWANTEDTOLIKETHEM. I REALLY, REALLYWANTEDTHISTOWORK. BUT, I’d give no stars if I could. I know years ago THEMILKBARN was packed which was nearby and torn down(maybe McCobbs is trying to be like that and they do advertise Gelotti…(I like Totowa s gellotti flavors) So that is what they trying to emulate as a family gathering along with an ice cream stand… nice outdoor tables, a stocked trout river behind them, hotdogs, shakes, burgers, and other items It can be a hit or miss dr pending on the day or nite. Not cheap either. The grilled chicken sandwich was good. But, I would rather go to Paul’s in W. Milford or Hiram s in Fort Lee(my fav) for dogs, shakes, burgers, etc. if I had the option. NOWFORTHEWORSTPART. THEMILKBARNIT’S NOT! I did not want yo wait on the long line at Curlys around the bend. And I don’t know, or have family involved or work for either of them I must mention.(the line at Curlys and no line at McCobbs on a nice summer evening should tell you something right?) We’ll, knowing their shakes and seeing the Gelotti brand(which supposedly comes from the place I go in Totowa I figured how bad can it be? Well, EVEN if it’s family at least train the window person before you throw her on it! A young girl who I asked for two vanilla soft serve sundaes; one with strawberry, one with chocolate. She looked at me like she had never heard of one let alone made or seen one. Many places have made their smalls become mediums and the mediums become large in this economy like everything. I did not however expect a sundae that was melting before I even paid for it handed to me! Not even syrup but a jellied, or congealed strawberry topping(really gross put in the clear lid, instead of the usual white Styrofoam cup bottom. I asked where the lid was, so she put the white Styrofoam bottom on it but as I tryed to pick it up and pay for it it was spilling everywhere since it was the clear flexible lid on the bottom. I was so preoccupied with my situation and the guy behind me was seeing this and getting impatient since it looked like a Charlie Chaplin comedy short. He was finally offered help by the same girl because he spoke up as I was trying to mop up all the mess. He walked away disgusted because they did not even have Italian ice. Meanwhile while I was waiting for the girl to make my second sundae, the soft serve vanilla with chocolate syrup, some older person had noticed this science project and me trying to pick it up and mop it up as the girl had given me a LG white Styrofoam bottom to support the medium size clear lid now a bottom. The adult told her to make a new one. I also at that point added that I would appreciate having a «complete sundae“with whipped cream and a cherry on both sundaes. She did remake the strawberry one, but I also had to wait yet again because she made the chocolate sundae with chocolate soft serve instead of vanilla soft serve. A pretty simple order turned ridiculously bad. And the whipped cream(chemical or cool whip I am not sure, but it was awful to taste AND look at .In addition the whipped cream & cherrys she also forgot again, so she put them all in separate containers? A fix it yourself with more mess? Both sundaes were melting into ice cream soup and over flowing and the night was not that warm. I was the only customer during all of this except the other man who left. I forgot what it was for the two large sundaes; but the bill was not cheap either, but it was also not worth it in anyway. The probably should have just offered them to me I guess for my trouble. Still even at that, I know NEVERTOGOTHEREFORICECREAMEVERAGAIN. Like the other guy said to me as he left, there’s obviously a reason there’s no line here on a nice night like tonite. All I can say is if Hal Roach had seen it, he would have filmed it.

This was my first visit to McCobb’s. It was on the off-peak time of 4:30 on a Monday afternoon. I ordered texas weiner all the way, a small quarter pounder cheeseburger all the way and cajun fries which came with bleu cheese or some other sauce. I sat at my seat, waited for my order to finish and paid at the registered. I listened to country music while enjoying my food. The cheeseburger was much smaller than expected, perhaps more of a slider. The hot dog tasted great as an all the way meal. The topping is top-notch in comparison to others. Much of this meal content came from the fries. Burger and hot dog are probably not enough but the fries made it too much. At least I didn’t have to worry about being hungry soon after. $ 5.49 for the«slider», $ 4.19 for the hot dog, $ 2.99 for fountain soda and $ 5.25 for the fries which is considered an appetizer got a bit up there in price. They have outdoor seating in the back and live music some evenings.

A «family» restaurant designed to gauge families of their money. Kids meal is $ 10. Smallest size ice cream is $ 5. So feeding two kids is minimum $ 30 plus tax/tip. The $ 9 sandwiches come without fries, which are $ 5 to add. The space out back is great and the food is decent to good. Could be a great spot if they just priced the food more appropriately.

We will NEVER go again. If a half star is possible I’m not sure if that’s a low enough rating. As with all the posts on price they are OUTRAGEOUS!!! $ 6.95 for fries. I went back for a refund after finding out how much they were before they were made, but was only given $ 6.30 back. I think I was even charged $ 2.95 for tap water. As with the help they are extremely unfriendly and exactly as one says in part«can’t smile.» Like we were bothering them by giving them our business. Not even willing to tell me the sides that are available. 7 of us left disappointed and with empty wallets. Ice cream not that good and my pulled pork was dry and flavorless. No wonder why they were empty on a Saturday afternoon on a gorgeous day. NEVERAGAIN

This place is not worth the $$$$. They additionally charge me for a EXTRA slice of onion because they barely put anything on it initially. Add a chili dog, fries, drink, my total was north of $ 23.00. The burger wasn’t even tasty as I had to drown it with ketchup(that I swear they charged me for). Never again!!! No wonder this place was empty in the afternoon on a weekend. I’ll stick with the local diners in town for a burger next time.

McCobb’s serves classic casual cuisine. Their prices are a little higher than fast food franchises, but their food is much better.

Ridiculously over priced! Over $ 8 for a cheeseburger that was dry and literally had nothing on it except cheese. The fries were bland and what was supposed to be potato cheddar soup tasted more like potato tang. The soup is actually inedible! My total was $ 20.21 for this slop. I will never eat here again!

This is my go to place for fried clam strips. I almost never eat them but one Friday in Lent my friend wanted to go for a burger so I had the only fish meal on the menu that had that magic word– FRIED! They are well cooked. The portion size is good too. Fries are acceptable — nothing special. The shop is clean, with plenty of parking. Overall, I enjoy eating here. Lots of chatter about cost on Unilocal.I can see what they mean because we just had 2 sodas, an order of clam strips, a small fries and a large bowl of veggie chili(really good). Price was $ 23. Definitely not inexpensive. However, the food was good, portion size fair and the tables were clean. We will go back but you probably have to decide for yourself if the prices represent good value . Recommended.

I’m not a cheap girl. I like a bargain like anyone else, but I also happily pay the price when I’m looking for quality. This place needs to get the message. I’m not the first, second or even tenth to note that the prices here are a little dear for what you get. What do you get? Cheap quality dogs, burgers with absolutely no taste, standard frozen fries without any trace of salt, and yes. their ice cream seems great. It’s Gelotti’s(from Totowa) but we didn’t partake. Know why? Because I didn’t have any money left after spending all of it on tasteless burgers, lame hot dogs and salt-less frozen fries! It’s no wonder I was the only person in there. If the food was amazing, I would gladly pay the price! But it’s not! So I won’t! First and last time. Sorry, guys. get the net McCobbs! PS $ 2 extra unannounced charge for slice of onion on my burger is not okay.

For 18 bucks I’ll go across the street to novelli. At least there you get what you pay for.

I always ask myself when I pass it, why don’t I go there? Every time I swing into the lot order my burger, fries and soda I remember why. $ 16 bucks for a burger fry meal??? God forbid you want to add coleslaw count on a twenty! There is nothing negative I can say about the burger but nothing overly praising either. If it was worth it price no issue but it was ok. I’ve never had the dogs and have been looking for a local fried dog place for a while so I’ll give that a shot. Why can’t we get a Shake Shack near here?! There really is not a great burger within miles.

People complain about cost here but you get what you pay for and McCobbs is quality. Everything is fresh cooked to order and we have never been disappointed in anything we have had. Hands down best fries around — big, crunchy, and not at all greasy. The pulled pork and chicken is moist and the BBQ sauce flavorful. Wings have just the right kick. Last night we ordered ribs for the first time and were blown away by the size — definitely oversized as stated(and quite tasty!) Love that you can wash it all down with a real birch beer or a fresh made thick shake. Ice cream is excellent(can you go wrong with ice cream from Gellottis?) and portions generous. A great neighborhood family place!

I am giving this the biggest thumbs down, only because of the price. Apparently, we the customers, are paying for the free boat launch out back. I cannot think of any justification for a plain hamburger and a small fry to be over $ 11.00. The burger was $ 6.99 and the small fry was $ 4.25. Seriously? I do not even pay that in Manhattan. Atleast throw the fries in for free, or katsup! Even a napkin would be nice. Unless you have endless amounts of money, I highly suggest to stay clear of this place. I am glad to see others mention the price in other reviews so I do not seem chintzy. I feel so violated that $ 20 did not even buy me my dinner this evening. No wonder no one was in the restaurant, they are all probably at their 2nd jobs to pay off their debt from eating here. In the words of Unilocal«eek! me thinks not»

I’ll get straight to it. This is a hot dog place that serves other food as well. I remember when they didn’t really serve anything else. My wife has had a burger that was surprisingly good but this is a hot dog joint first and foremost. Get 3 «all the way«and enjoy. They also have Cajun fries that are really good and served w/a dill sauce. Wash it down with a birch beer and you won’t be disappointed.

love this place. It’s been around for a long time, and once you have some of their ice cream or a shake you will see why. Haven’t had any of the food yet, just dessert. They also have a bike night.

Food is average at best. Just«meh», as Unilocal would put it. The pulled pork is kind of dry, and the chicken sandwiches are bland. I’ve never encountered a less friendly staff. They aren’t mean, but every time I walk in I get that«I was trying to text my boyfriend and now you interrupted me and I can’t smile» vibe. The only redeeming quality is the ice cream bar. Their ice cream comes from Gelotti’s. They have a ton of flavors and make sundaes.

So I have lived in Wayne for about 2 years. I have passed by this place a couple of times and thought it was an ice cream store. One day, I saw a sign that said they sell Mr. Cupcake cupcakes so we decided to drop by and get some when we were meeting some friends. Its about 11:30 in the morning and I am starving at this point. I go in and I see the menu and my mouth is watering! BBQ pork, BBQ chicken, Texas weiners, chilli, etc. Since we were late, we couldnt eat there. But I vowed that I would come back. Well I did go back and I had the pulled pork, pulled chicken sammich and the texas weiners. All really good! The hot dogs had this chilli on it and it was fantastic. I cant believe I never ate here and I have been in Wayne for 2 years. All those missed sammiches… I will definately keep going back and I am also wating for the weather to get warmer for some home made ice cream as well.
