The Home Depot

Avoid this Home Depot — especially after a new manager named Craig came aboard. My house went through a complete renovation over the past two years and given good experience with another Home Depot where I lived, I purchased over $ 30k of supplies from this store including multiple special order doors. Besides getting the specifications wrong repeatedly and delaying the project, two of the expensive, special order doors made by Milliken were of poor quality with one side of the door higher than the other, among other defects. After reporting the problem a Milliken rep came to inspect and of course tried to blame the installer. After that Home Depot came to inspect. Facing the hard facts, they agreed to compensate me by a fraction of the door cost. When I alerted them of the second defective door and this was right after Craig joined in, the staff went extra miles to lie and to try to cover themselves by shoveling all the faults to the installer again, who happened to be a different contractor. The reality is that two different contractors confronted the same problems, which caused the two doors to have uneven, large gaps, yet Craig refused to rectify the problem for the second door and even told me that the prior store manager compensated me «just to make me happy». Which business would «compensate» a customer if the product is defect-​free? Bad management, and therefore bad experience for customers. This store is going downhill.

I am so unimpressed with the Home Depot lately. I think I’m done shopping with them. Forever. We ordered an outdoor playset through them and it has yet to be installed. It has been weeks. When we tried to contact about when it would be installed, we were given the runaround and never a clear answer. I have zero confidence that they will follow through and set it up. I have a feeling that’s a VERY EXPENSIVE order I’ll be cancelling. I also ordered a VERY expensive front entry door from them SIX weeks ago. After 3 weeks, when it was supposed to have been delivered, I was told someone in a warehouse backed into it with a forklift and scratched it up. Gonna be another 3 weeks for another one. Seriously?! They did not offer to rush it to me. They did not offer to install it for free to make up for THEIR mistake. They just expected I’d wait 3 more weeks and find a way to be okay with that.
I can get better service and prices from the competition.

Having said that, I’ve found plenty or reasons over the years to be frustrated by them. I suppose it all balances out. I trust the professionals at HD more than any of the other home improvement stores. I’m convinced they know what they are talking about and are genuinely willing to help. I prefer Behr paints over all of the others that I have tried and I appreciate the ability to shop for lumber inside where it is dry in the summer and warm in the winter. I’ve used their installation services for attic insulation and a hot water heater. Both went off without a hitch. I tried to use this store to purchase kitchen counters and left frustrated. We had a carpet installation quoted here and it was twice what a carpet store was.
Because I’ve been a regular customer for years I know where everything is. Maybe that’s why I keep coming back. I may not always make my purchase here, but this Home Depot is always my first option and the standard by which all other home improvement stores are measured.

Mr. Howard in plumbing is the real deal. He is kind and has helped me (who knew nothing about plumbing prior to this year) through several projects. He really knows his stuff.

Great service in the pro services area by Pat and the team in the tool rental area is always very helpful.

Had the most frustrating experience ordering Bamboo flooring here. we ordered the flooring in the first week of February which is a quick ship item and should arrive in two weeks. They never call to tell us it was backordered at the factory so we called them and was told it would arrive in early March. No call in March so when we called they told us late April. No call. When we called them we were told it would be early May. Flooring finally arrived in mid May. We were a little short to complete the job and decided to try and order from the Waukesha store instead. Ordered what we needed on a Saturday afternoon and the flooring came into the Waukesha store the following Tuesday. They just do not seem to know how to follow up on an order to get information that answers your questions.

Home Depot website says they have 30+ fans in stock at this location, even had the option for «Pick Up In Store FREE Available for Pick Up: Today». Walk all over the store with a polite clerk trying to find them, then another clerk says «yeah we have them, I can actually see them up there.» I ask if they can get it for me to buy and he responds «sorry».
They made no effort to tell me when I’d be able to purchase it or anything. They wonder why more people are shopping online. Seriously, don’t put that you have something in stock in your store if you can’t take a couple minutes to go up a ladder and get one down to sell someone.

2^nd worst Home Depot I’ve been to. These employees care even less than the average Home Depot employee and again have zero experience or knowledge on what they sell. Perhaps employing better people at a higher wage would improve customer satisfaction.

Fantastic friendly, helpful, efficient service. Super convenient locarion. Great selection, competive prices. They even install what they sell. Their contractors that they use are good. So I would recommend their products and service.

Seen better, had worse! Home Depot has everything one would need for home improvement. But, prices are no deal.

Money can be saved by shopping at Menards.

One star is the lowest I can give this location. I had a problem with an item came to get an exchange. Customer service is a joke here, and needs an extensive training course in customer service. I walked up to the service desk. They said go to isle xx, and someone will be right there. They were going to call someone. I waited 5min no one an undercover employee walked passed me with a jacket covering his uniform avoiding eye contact looking like a lost zombie slumpping his boots, and said nothing! So I walked by the doors dept asked for help. They said they will get someone. I waited 5min again. I then seen another guy that works there sat next to him for a fun time chat? I then called their front desk on my phone, and they said someone is coming? I then waited about 5min again, and had enough. I went up front, and found someone got my help, and left ! Never again take note from your competition who loves to help, and swarm on customers like used car salesmen! Are the employees at that location oncall, underpaid, bored or just hate their jobs?

Honestly, I keep trying to give this store my business and they keep giving me the proverbial finger. The latest adventure was trying to get new carpet installed. We stopped in to the store, found a pattern we liked and as usual, were completely ignored and unable to find someone to assist. No bigs, we scheduled a measure online and it was duly completed. During the measure, we gave the tech all the product info — pattern name, color, even their store SKU.
Fast forward a week — I get a message from HD telling me they have questions. When I called back the person who answered proceeded to tell me that the measure hadn’t been completed (umm, yes it has per the message from the store!), that we should have come in to the store (we did, but the employees ignored us), and finally that he had our file but the product we wanted they didn’t have a SKU for (despite us taking a PHOTO of it in-​store). On top of being completely incompetent, dude was rude as hell — don’t scold me for scheduling online, pal — if your employees had it together when we visited it wouldn’t have been an issue. So they’re supposed to call me back. High hopes for THAT…
Anyway, I’m going to be giving the finger right back to Home Depot and heading over to Lowe’s.
(They did call back to tell me that my small hallway and staircase job will be…$ 1000. The carpet was $ 2/​square foot… so we need 500 sf to complete one staircase and a 6′ hallway? Incompetence all the way!!!)

It’s home depot. I came looking for 1 very specific thing that there website listed IN STOCK with 14 of them. i asked 3 different people, The first said to go to XX Isle and it should be on the right, sure enough found something like what we needed, but not exactly so is started walking around, found another gentlemen he had to ask someone else where, they directed me to the opposite end of the store, I see some more of the same type of thing i was looking for but not the correct one, i see a guy the next isle over and show him my phone with the product number and the «IN STOCK» code on my phone, he took me back to XX isle said «this is what we have, I said can you check this part number maybe it’s else where?. He said this is what we have, don’t believe the internet. So i went home empty handed.

Came during Packers playoff game. Felt sorry for employees because most people like to watch Packer games. Young man in paint asked if he can help us. We should have taken him up on it because after saying no, we had trouble finding anyone to help and the one we did find wasn’t knowledgable; product we wanted on display but not in stock. :(Lady at checkout was nice.

Eh. In terms of inventory and selection, they probably have the most items available to homeowners. Several items, varying degrees, different price points.
For customer service, it’s very hit-​or-​miss — if you get someone ‘good,’ it’ll make the trip worthwhile, but expect to get a lot of ‘walk offs’ and «I’ll check on that for you» (and never come back).
They tend to have some good prices on light fixtures and hooks and weird little knick knacks you seem to always need around the house.
All in all the bad experiences outweigh the good for this particular Home Depot. We always try to combine trips so we’re not completely wasting a trip by coming here.

I have to commend this Home Depot. The have a customer for life. After we purchased some flooring materials that catastrophically failed by no fault of our own — the store actually refunded our money for the faulty product (around $ 600 worth)
That alone left me with an allegiance to HD over any other home improvement store because they did not need to do that. Hell, the manufacturer of the product would not even call me back. HD took care of it for us.
The staff is very friendly. Sometimes you need to tug on someone’s shirt to get a little assistance but otherewise it’s a great store and great staff.
Now I go here for most of my Home Improvement needs and they pretty much always have what i’m looking for.
