Specialties

Back When Café offers farm to table style dinner. Serving locally grown foods in a casual atmosphere. We also cater to groups large and small. For your next event we are happy to offer a wide variety of services. Whether on-site or off-site, a full staffed function, or delivery service. We can cater business meetings, birthday parties, weddings and everything in between.

From a variety of appetizer platters served banquet style to extravagant multiple course table-service dinners, we serve both innovative and traditional cuisine using only the freshest ingredients.

We have several private rooms available. We offer a wide variety of options for anniversary dinners, weddings, rehearsal dinners, family gatherings or business meetings with very flexible menu options that range from cocktails and hors d’oeuvres to lavish multiple course dinners.

History

Established in 1991.

Originally opened August 19th 1991 and began as a breakfast and lunch ‘bistro’. The original restaurant comprised of a bar area and one dining room, «The Old Room», along with two private dining rooms upstairs. Eventually we began serving dinner in a casual fine dining atmosphere and started catering and banquets and the business grew. In 2003 we completed an expansion to include a 2nd dining room, an outdoor dining area and a new kitchen.

Our staff strives to create a warm, friendly, atmosphere and we consider ourselves as a gathering place among friends.

The architecture is an ecclectic blend of the old and new with a touch of northwoods flair.

Business Owner

What we believe in is ‘the Slow Food Movement’. When my husband Glenn and I opened our restaurant in 1991, we were aiming to be everything fast food wasn’t. Our commitment was to buy local as much as possible, cook food that was good for you, while supporting the local farmers, and their use of sustainable methods, which in turn would be good for the planet. Our menu is pure and simple, using only the most fresh and natural ingredients, with some innovative twists, and an accent on Mediterranean and French. — Chef Lucci
