Established in 1995.

After working for dealerships in the service department Ken decided he was sick of the «money making» operations of the normal mechanics who are just in it for the money leaving their customers upset and confused (not to mention broke). Ken then established Advanced Auto Repair Wausau.

First place we tried so that we can get our car fixed and ready for the winter but I can definitely say that this places customer service is great, at least the guy that we worked with. The mechanic we spoke to was very good at explaining parts and what was needed and didn’t try and oversell items to us that we didn’t need. It was definitely pricey but it was well overdue for our car since other mechanics we had previously gone too were not able to fix the issues. The only bad thing that I had to say was that it was definitely a long wait. We showed up early for our appointment with them around 1:45pm and didn’t leave until a couple minutes before they closed. I didn’t make a big deal because I know our car had its issues but my overall feel of this place is that I like it and the employees who were working there at that time.
Would I recommend? Yes I would
Is it pricey? Yes, just a bit but they are willing to do what they can to assist

It was important to me to use a locally owned shop to have the brakes changed on my car… I am so so happy I chose Ken and his team at Advanced Auto Care. Ken gave me the estimate up front, had me come look under the car once he had diagnosed the issues I was having so I could understand the work he was doing and he had all of the parts he needed on site. The job was efficient (done with same day service) and the service was exemplary. I ran his pricing by my friend who is an auto technician and he said the prices were spot on… very reasonable. If you want to support a local shop, get a great deal and work with someone who understands that just because you’re not a car expert doesn’t mean that you should be treated like an idiot… then go here and ask for Ken.
One more thing… I don’t know if this is important to you… and it wasn’t a deciding factor about why I liked the place… but it certainly was a bonus: Ken smelled good. Showered and even a bit of cologne. A refreshing change to the stench of some other automotive interactions I have been subjected to.
