Hannah Goering is a Chicago-​based photographer specializing in photojournalistic wedding coverage. Hannah received her BFA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago in May of 2008, and is an active member of Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA). Beyond weddings and events, Hannah’s services extend to headshots, family portraits, proposals, engagements, maternity shoots, boudoir, and high school senior portraits.

People in college gave me strange looks when I told them I wanted to be a wedding photographer. I didn’t care — wedding photography makes me happy. With a BFA in photography under my belt, I strive to push my wedding photography past the ‘expected’ shots — I look for beauty in unexpected places, and wait for those glorious moments when pure excitement and joy shine through my subjects’ faces.

Five things you should know:

1)I am a dairy farmer’s daughter — I only eat real butter and I eat lots of it.

2)If presented with sass from a bridal party I will kindly and tactfully dish the sass right back.

3)Camera in hand, I sing and dance along to the music at receptions (Play that funky music).

4)I’m a moment-​seeker when I’m photographing weddings, and I generally find the best shots when you are ignoring my presence and just having a good time.

5)Someday I hope to move to Kenya, where I spent a month in 2005, and share my passion for photography with the beautiful slum children.
