Courtyard Chicago Waukegan/Gurnee

This property would get 5 stars if not for the business center. Every. Time. I need to print, the printer doesn’t work. Erica was helpful in changing out the toner, but I’m still not able to print a very important document. She offered to print for me, but it’s not the same. I need to be able to work at my hotel. It’s the reason I choose Marriott. Tomorrow, I will have to run frantically and find a place that I can work before my meeting. So frustrated right now. Everything about this hotel is great.
Staff, cleanliness, food, service, comfortable. Please fix the printer or buy a new one. The cost of a printer $ 70 is minimal compared to what I and my company spends here.

I stayed at this hotel a few nights ago with my best friend the day before her wedding. She reserved a suite for us so that a few of the bridesmaids could stay together. She was told that check in was 3pm she arrived at 4:30pm and was told that the room was not ready yet. She asked why it was not ready since check in was at 3 and was told «she would just have to wait». The lady told her she would call her when the room was ready. So she then had to take her stuff back to the car and go home to attempt to get ready for her rehearsal and dinner. She was able to check in a little after 5 pm. So obviously not happy she said that she would speak with a manager on her way out. The following morning I went down to see what the options were for breakfast (they do not provide free breakfast you have to buy it) and decided I should speak with the manager so that she wouldn’t have to being her wedding day. Being her matron of honor I was willing to handle it for her. While speaking with the manager I quickly became up set at her response that check in STARTED at 3pm and that the room was not guaranteed to be ready. So I asked her how would she know that the room was not ready and when to show up? I was irritated because I feel if check in at 3pm, the room should be ready. Basically I told her my friend was not happy. So I asked what they could do. They ended up providing free breakfast and coffee to my friend and the other girls. I honestly feel that they need to better clarify this so called email that states the «starting» check in time. It’s ridiculous to make guests wait around for a room. She also said that if we needed to be in the room at a certain time we should have called first. My response was if we arrive after the starting check in time, the room should be ready… The other thing that bothered me was the fact that the manager continued to argue with me instead of using her customer service skills to just fix the situation. Does not surprise me though, most companies seem to lack customer service these days.

Great customer service my wife traveled alone for the first time to see our son graduate Navy bootcamp. She was having a hard time getting a prepaid rental car. She panic and got scared I called the Marriott to see if they were going to give her the same problem. I talked to Sheila and I told everything that was going on she told me sorry for the problems you wife was having and took care of everything and welcomed my wife when she arrive. Again Thank you Sheila for everything sorry if I spelled your name wrong but you made my wife’s stay very pleasant and If I could give you a rating to I would give you five stars too.

Beautiful, comfortable, and modern. Stayed for my husband’s PIR 5.1.15 and had a great time there.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. This hotel is located in a great shopping area: it’s next to a Denny’s, Chilis, Walmart, Starbucks, Anastasia’s, Sweet Tomatoes, and a few other businesses. Everything is at a walking distance.
The staff was very courteous and friendly. They were efficient in doing the check in process quick and easy.
The Bistro (Café) in the lobby has great selections and the prices are reasonable.
The rooms are very spacious and you can definitively tell that the house keeping staff does a great job in cleaning each room well and thoroughly. The beds felt as if you were literally sleeping on a cloud! They were so comfortable.
This hotel is also a great option if you’re in town to visit a relative who is a Sailor stationed in the Great Lakes Naval Station. It is just a 15 minute drive to the Navy Base!
I will definitively go back and stay at this hotel when I return to the the North Chicago area.

Words can’t properly express how grateful and relieved I felt when this hotel took us in, just one day before my brother’s graduation at the Great Lakes Naval Base nearby.
My mom, sister-​in-​law, her sixteen-​month-​old, and I had flown in from California two days before the graduation, and were exhausted and hungry, eager to get to our hotel. But when we arrived at our reserved room (The Red Carpet Inn), we found it to be disgustingly unclean (urine-​stained sheets and pubic hairs in the bathtub, etc.) and hazardous to our toddler (he picked up some unidentifiable objects on the ground and attempted to eat them!), so we knew we had to get out of there as soon as possible. However after calling around, we found it difficult to find a room so last minute, especially one in our price range. We called the Courtyard Hotel at midnight, and they immediately set us up with a room, not just any room but a KING SUITE at less than a third of the original price for all three nights!!! We were all practically crying, we were so relieved to be rescued from that horrific nightmare situation we found ourselves in. They even sent over the hotel shuttle to pick us and all of our luggage up, and twenty minutes later we were in paradise!
I don’t have enough good things to say about our stay here, truly. The suite was so beautiful and clean, the beds were comfortable and the kitchenette area was very nice. The free wi-​fi was great, as was the gym and pool/​jacuzzi (indoor!). The bar/​lounge area was very inviting, and the café served AMAZING food and drinks! They even sell Starbucks coffee there, although if you want more options, there’s an actual Starbucks right next to the hotel in the parking lot, which was so convenient. There’s also a Wal-​Mart, Denny’s, Sweet Tomatoes, and Chili’s all within walking distance, which was wonderful for last-​minute errands or take-​out options, as we didn’t want to go very far in the extreme Chicago weather.
The customer service was far above and beyond what we are used to as well. Maid service was excellent, the manager was very lovely and accommodating– she even gave us free Kleenex packets on the day of the graduation! They set out sweet welcome banners and cookies for the sailors and their families, and provided affordable shuttle service for the families going to graduation. They made our stay there so pleasurable and we will forever be grateful to this hotel and the staff there for making what could have been a huge disaster of a trip, into one of the best vacations I’ve ever taken. Seriously, if you are considering staying elsewhere (especially the Red Carpet Inn), don’t! Make your reservation here and you won’t regret it, trust me. 10 out of 5 stars for the Courtyard Chicago, they’ve got a fan for life in me!

Wow — what a great hotel! We came to town for a wedding and when we arrived the hotel staff had us on the list of wedding attendees, gave us information and directions to the events, and honestly treated us like royalty. If you are having a wedding and are thinking of getting a block of rooms for your guests, you shouldn’t hesitate to do it here. Our room was spotlessly clean and very nicely decorated. The staff was so warm and helpful, and there is a great lobby where people can gather and have coffee, play games, etc. There was a free hot chocolate bar — yum! The youngsters in our group used the hot tub and loved it. Free wi-​fi. The going rate for that weekend ended up being lower than when we originally reserved the room, and they gave us the lower price without us even asking! I’m not exaggerating when I say we felt like family here and it was a great home base for our stay in Gurnee.

My husband and I stayed here this past weekend for his daughters graduation from Naval Bootcamp. Not only was the entire staff incredibly sweet and helpful, the room was lovely, the Bisto very convienient, and the pool/​hot tub a great bonus, but they also offered a shuttle pick-​up/​drop off from the base for easy travel for almost nothing! ($ 3 per person, per way). They had welcome gifts for graduates, and popcorn to watch the game with.
Dan, one of the managers recommended a few great places to try in the area, and was very personable. As was the Bistro staff this morning (can’t remember their names… one was training and the other has been there for 16years!)!

This place is one of the nicest hotels I’ve been to with some of the friendliest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of coming into contact with. Not only are all the staff very personable, they made sure that I was comfortable and had everything I needed.
The hotel itself is honestly just gorgeous. Free wi-​fi. Free 24hr gym access. Free use of the pool/​jacuzzi. Theres a bar/​restaurant/​lounge that serves really good food and various Starbucks drinks (including the infamous pumpkin spice latte). Theres a 24hr market where you can buy snacks/​beer/​wine/​ice cream.
I honestly can’t say enough great things and I’ve been here for less than 24hrs. You don’t need to look further. Stay here. You’ll thank me later.

This hotel and staff are fantastic! We were out for our sons boot camp graduation. The staff sent an email asking if we wanted a congratulations package to be waiting for him. they personalized it. He was really happy with the snickers and rootbeer.
Every moment, from when we arrived to when we checked out was great. The staff was so friendly and warm.
If you are planning to stay near great lakes naval base, i will say you are missing out if you dont stay at courtyard!!!

While the room and general building were fine, I had a few issues with my stay last night.
First, the indoor pool was really cold.
Second, the hot tub was Luke warm and the handle to turn on the jets was broken.
Third, there were no towels in the pool room and hardly any in the bins. I noticed when I first got there, went to the front desk to ask for some. Ten minutes went by with no towels and I called from the pool area, and another five minutes or so went by until someone finally brought them.
Fourth, the tiles around the pool were extremely slippery and dangerous. I nearly fell once while waking in my flip flops, my daughter and nephew both slipped and fell while walking around the pool. Putting up a sign that says caution wet floor is not enough to make it safe.
Lastly, while I appreciate having a pack n play available, you should have blankets available upon request for older children.

I stay here almost every drill weekend. It’s much closer to base then the hotels in Gurnee. Kelly is the nicest front desk agent I have ever met. After seeing probably thousands of people each month she manages to remember my friend and I every time we are there. Although it’s not as big and doesn’t have the same curb appeal as the other hotels in the area, it is super clean and the rooms are large. Right next door there is Potbelly and Starbucks. Across the street there is a Walmart and other places to eat.

All around a five star experience for me. My friend and I spent the weekend here to celebrate my 18^th birthday. It has a nice gym, an awesome pool, and the rooms are amazing. Everything was obviousely cleaned and tidy, and all the staff were very friendly, willing to give advice on the area. Five stars from me!

My wife, four children, and I drove in from California for our Son’s graduation-​Great Lakes Naval Base. Our ‘reserved’ hotel was not to our standard, so we decided to look elsewhere. We stopped in at three of the neighboring hotels before the Courtyard. As Helen greeted us, we quickly realized we’d found the hotel for us. I reserved four rooms for my family, friends, and Wisconsin-​cousins. Aside from our lasting first-​impression, all other services; pool/​spa, housekeeping, and the quiet guy who delivered a roll-​away bed were excellent as well… even the manager could be seen helping ‘bus’ tables in the café, wow!

This hotel is standard for Courtyard… clean and convenient to the navy base and Six Flags… my only issue is that they said there was complimentary coffee and there was not… Nothing is complimentary in the hotel and for the price could have stayed somewhere else and got a free breakfast or atleast a coffee! I understand this is just a Courtyard thing though… they have a new «bistro» where you can by overpriced food and coffee… I personally wouldnt stay at this or any courtyard due to this… there are other great choices nearby like Holiday inn express that is NEW and provide awseome complimentary breakfast

Great hotel to stay at, I could come up with a million reasons why this is the hotel to stay at but you can only really experience the greatness and great energy from the staff in person. I will go to say this is a very clean hotel I feel really comfortable here.

Some of the friendliest staff I have ever encountered. You can tell they really enjoy their jobs… there wasn’t a single person who wasn’t kind. Google maps gave me a 3 hour trek time with 2 busses and 3 trains, to the hotel from where I was at in Maywood, and the attendant at the Front Desk gave me the best directions when I thought to call and ask (2 trains only). I had changed my reservation at the last minute because my boyfriend was also staying with me, and since it was a FREEZING day, they let me check him in before he arrived, so that he could enter the hotel through the side door next to the parking lot, and not have to trek to the front door in –1 weather. I thought that was extremely nice. They also gave me a ride to the train station. Would most definitely stay here again. One of the best hotels I have stayed at, because of the service, hands-​down.

We spent a weekend here and I was excited to use the fitness room and pool. Unfortunately, I felt under the weather and was unable to use the facilities.
It might’ve been for the best though because the fitness room was really only a recumbent bike, two treadmills and a 5 to 20 pound dumbbell set. You can’t really expect too much from a small hotel but it was amusing all the same.
The pool, too, was funny because it was filled with hairless-​chest Navy dudes rasslin’ each other in the water. I briefly thought about jumping in and dunking the biggest guy’s head underwater but his «Mom Doesn’t Love Me» tattoo made me think twice.
The staff here was very friendly, and really made our stay. And the complimentary breakfast really took it home for us. We got to sit in their cozy, cool and contemporary lounge area and I got their bacon, potatoes and eggs meal. It definitely hit the spot.
This Courtyard Marriott’s a little on the older side but it does the job, with the staff and breakfast being definite pluses.

Very clean rooms, the lobby is fantastic, it has a lounge area with a fireplace and it’s so cozy and welcoming. The rooms are decent sized (king bed), and I had one overlooking the courtyard with a balcony.
The pool is clean and the hot tub is a great addition to the place. The location can’t be beat, so many dining options nearby, Starbucks, Chilis, Dunkin Donuts, Denny’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, all within walking distance. There is even a Walmart Super Center across the street.

Unilocal duped into staying here… here’s my take:
— the front desk staff is awesome
— the hotel however is a pretty standard, older Courtyard — definitely not «new» or «renovated»
— workout room is lame and no free relationship with a gym down the road.
— internet is free, but painfully slow — .25Mb/​s down
— there is a bunch of food right around here and it’s right off the highway, but there’s also a few other hotel options
