History

Established in 2004.

Tutoring Club began over 25 years ago and has since grown to over 175 locations world-​wide. Tutoring Club of Watsonville was opened in 2004 by 5 retired teachers from the Pajaro Valley School District. As lifelong professional educators with over 150 years combined teaching experience, we were looking for a way to help children in the community, in a more personalized fashion than is possible in the classroom.

Since opening, we have had amazing success in helping children succeed in school and go to top colleges. We consider ourselves educators first and businesspeople second — our kids and their families are always our first priority. As teachers, we know that what works best for one child may not work best for another. Through our individualized programs, we are able to adapt our methods to fit each student’s needs. We believe that working with kids one-​on-​one and being able to give them the exact help they require is what sets Tutoring Club apart from the rest.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

I’m the son of 2 of the original founders of Tutoring Club of Watsonville. I’ve been teaching since 1998 and was previously the Head Teacher /​Manager of a school in Nagano, Japan. In 2007 I decided to come back to my hometown — Watsonville — to take over this business and continue the good work my parents and their good friends started over 6 years ago.

It has been a fantastic experience: watching kids transform themselves into confident, successful students with a bright future ahead, working with parents and teachers, and once again being a part of the community where I was raised.

I see amazing potential in this work, and in this community. My goal is to make this location a place where anyone who wants to succeed can find the tools they need to do so.
