This integration brings depth, meaning and enthusiasm to learning.
Mission
We are a community of learners. We support our students to become caring, self-aware and articulate critical thinkers, who are prepared to meet challenges with perseverance, creativity and integrity. We believe that a meaningful life is characterized by personal achievement and the ability to work effectively with others in service to society.
History
Established in 1979.
Mount Madonna School was founded in 1979 by a group of parents and educators seeking to establish a quality educational institution in a safe and unique environment.
Mount Madonna School is located on 355 acres of forested mountaintop property overlooking the Monterey Bay. We are hosted by Mount Madonna Center, a community founded on the principles of yoga and dedicated to non-harming, self-development and service to society. The values of the Center and the beauty of the natural environment provide a supportive and inspirational context in which our learning community thrives.
Meet the Manager
Supriya M.
Manager
Supriya has been teaching elementary school since 1977, and working in administration at Mount Madonna School since 1998. Through her leadership as Head of the Lower School, she supports faculty, parents and students to work together in the ongoing learning process. She is a parent of two alumni.
«As the Head of the Lower School, I enjoy the dynamic relationship building between teachers, students, staff and parents as we work together to create a stimulating and secure learning community. Mount Madonna School values reflect the importance of creating a trusting environment to practice honesty, respect and empathy which supports the natural unfolding of the learning process. Students develop confidence in themselves as learners, take responsibility for their choices and make their own discoveries. The keys to motivated learning are keeping flexible and open thinking alive, learning to ask the right questions at the right time and caring for one another.»
