I’ve driven by this place a million times but never noticed it. I needed a twin set, or so I thought, and needed it delivered. Mike, who I believe is the owner, understood what I needed, told me I really did not need a new box spring, sold me a Simmons BeautyRest mattress with a 10 year warranty for a VERY reasonable price, and delivered it himself. I used to work for Sleepy’s, where their honesty is questionable at best. Watertown Mattress is the opposite of that. This experience was easy, quick, I felt comfortable that I was making a smart purchase, Mike was kind, friendly and honest, and I will absolutely return to him next time I need a mattress.

Both owners are fantastic, honest and trustworthy. They give very fair prices and focus everything around giving you the best experience. By far the easiest experience I’ve had buying a bed, they took away the headache.
One star off only because their delivery team isn’t very good, nor careful. I made mention during delivery to watch walls as they had just been repainted but were dry, and a box that could easily be navigated still scuffed the walls a bit. Broke a glass in my room due to slight carelessness.
Purchase experience was easily ⁵⁄₅. Delivery would be a 3. It was quick and they were very nice, but some small issues that could have been avoided weren’t.

Just wanted to update 10/​27/​2015. Received a call and spoke with both owners today. They went out of their way to ask if they could have anything fixed or replaced. For a relatively small issue, I really appreciated there following through.
Without question, pass by the big chains and get to this place for beds and mattresses.

This place rocks! Mike and our salesperson were great. Fast, efficient, not pushy and a great price for a good mattress.

You can do your do diligence on mattress places in the area. Plenty of chains and furniture stores to check out. I checked them all. Thought maybe I’d check this place out. Looked better than the rest. (Sorry about that pun.) No frills here. Just lots of mattresses in stock in (thankfully) many price ranges and levels of quality. The guy in there was a regular guy and I felt it doesn’t hurt to help the local guy especially for he has the best price and selection. If you’re one of those dad’s moving your student into off-​campus housing and you need a good mattress fast, just go here.

My girlfriend and I were new to Boston and Unilocaled mattress stores near Brighton. Watertown popped up first so we decided to give it a shot.
Firstly, the place is a warehouse. It’s not one of those shiny, brand new mattress «dealerships» with plenty of windows in the front (I’m lookin at you, Sleepy’s). When we rolled up we weren’t sure we were in the right spot… but don’t let that fool you. They’re legit.
Mike was the guy on hand to help us — no nonsense, knowledgeable, ready to work with our price range, and a real charmer. Initially I thought he was trying to work us over with sweet stories about his family and telling us he’d «crunch the numbers» to make sure we could get a good deal, but at the end of the day he got us a therapedic queen, split box spring, and frame all for a little over $ 500 with zero haggling. The pleasant conversation was just icing on the cake.
We were in and out of there in under an hour. Mike is the man — made us feel right at home and got us a great deal.

While I ultimately did not end up buying my mattress here, I would definitely recommend them. Very good selection and prices. No salesmen in suits and high pressure. Warehouse environment, but lots too choose from. They definitely know mattresses.

I just went in today to get a mattress for school. One of the owners Therone was there and asked what I was looking for, he suggested three mattresses and the second one was perfect. He was really nice, friendly and helpful. He gave us a great deal and was very flexible with pickup time. Highly suggest going here!

Competitive prices and great service. Everything was as advertised, we had a knowledgeable salesman walk us through our choice, but didn’t push us to anything in particular. He had us try different levels of firmness then pointed us to try out mattresses at various price points for the same level of firmness. Delivery was on time, as advertised. All in all an A+ experience for the novice mattress buyer.

After spending time at both Sleepy’s and Bob’s Discount Furniture, I was getting tired of the overly up sell focused sales people. Since I knew what I wanted, a BeautyRest Luxury Firm, Mike was to the point and offered me a great price for the mattress set. Delivery was only $ 45 (Bob’s charged my mom over $ 100 to deliver her mattress set), and they came the same day! The delivery guys were very sweet even though it was tough getting the queen box spring up a narrow staircase. Overall, a pleasant and reasonably priced experience.

The place is nothing fancy but the service was as awesome as everyone said. Mike and Therone were both friendly, honest, and made the experience a lot of fun. When we bought the mattress, they delivered it right away. Literally right away – Mike followed us home with his truck, brought the mattress in, and we were set. I can’t recommend them highly enough!

We were concerned about getting a king mattress up a narrow staircase. Mike directed us to one that could bend more than a traditional spring mattress and ensured us they would do all they could to get it up the stairs – and they did with no problems. The big box stores seemed less willing to bend mattresses during delivery which gave us even more reason buy here.
Without a doubt we ended up with a great mattress and a much, much lower price than we would have paid elsewhere. These guys know their stuff and genuinely want to make sure you get what you’re looking for. Definitely check them out!

I don’t post often on Unilocal but this place was so unexpectedly awesome that it motivated me to get back on. We went over on a Saturday morning with our toddler looking for a replacement mattress for a 10 year old mattress that was causing us both significant back pain. Mike and Therone let our daughter jump on the mattresses which she LOVED while within 15 min they had directed us to a fantastic mattress that we both liked. They are super friendly and low key, unlike pushy salespeople in other mattress chains we visited that will remain unnamed. They were even able to deliver our mattress and box spring to us the same morning. Literally 20 min after we left the store, the mattress was in our house in Cambridge. Amazing service. Don’t be scared off by the warehouse look of the place, these guys are top notch. Fantastic prices as well.

After moving into a new apartment, I bought a bed here in August with the help of my dad. Therone told my dad that he would take care of me if I ever needed anything, and now, in May, he has proven that he is a man of his word! A couple of the slats in my beds slat kit had broken, and he replaced them for me for free (after I exchanged the new kit for the broken one). He was helpful, kind, knowledgable, and didn’t try to rip me off even though I’m a clueless college student. Highly recommend!

These guys deserve 5+ if it was available. I and my spouse had moved to Boston not too long ago, so we were clueless were to buy mattress. After looking through the Unilocal,this place had the best review. We gave it a try. By far best decision ever. They were not pushy, but tried to give us a good deal within our budget and made sure we tried every possible mattress. I sleep like a baby and I didn’t have back problems after buying a mattress. They were able to deliver the mattress the same day we purchased, even we bought it in the late afternoon. We were so thankful, since bed is the first thing you need when you move from different state without any furniture. I highly recommend this place for mattress, their good service and amicable staff.

Mike was very friendly with a good dose of Boston/​East Coast sense of humor. He asked what I was looking for and quickly recommended a few that seemed to hit my targets well. And within minutes, I found the winner.
I had not been excited to go mattress shopping as I dread car salesman-​like sales reps. But Mike and Watertown Mattress made it easy with a smile and I was happy with the knowledgeable choices offers.
Don’t let the looks of this place turn you off. It looks like a shabby, perhaps sketchy mattress store on the outside. Inside is a bit better but not a fancy showroom. But they make it up in service and really trying to help find you something that matches your price range well.
Bottom line: Mattress shopping potentially fun with a dose of Boston humor? It’s definitely possible and you’ll find it here.

Mike and Therone are the most awesome business owners ever. My husband and I went into Watertown Mattress looking for a nice futon for the guest bedroom. Mike helped us pick out one that we would really like. He basically asked us what exactly we were looking for and what expectations we had for the futon that we want. He didn’t try to upsell or force us to buy anything that we didn’t want or need. He showed me what choices we had and let me decide what type of futon I really wanted. You can really tell that Mike is an honest business owner. Since we were new to Boston (straight from San Francisco), he even gave us a laundry list of restaurants to try. He even had a long conversation about sports with my husband.
Another way I could tell he was an honest business man– he asked us if we were good at putting stuff together. I told him, I am and I have put together Ikea stuff before on my own. He told us to SKIP the delivery, take home the futon and assemble it ourselves. He said, that way, we are not spending unnecessary money for delivery and installation and that we can put that money towards buying new items for our new home. He gave us his card and said that we can call him anytime if we had trouble assembling the futon ourselves.
We assembled it correctly (seemed easy enough) but we ran into the problem of how to use it. We have never owned a futon before so we didn’t know how to change it from a couch to a bed and vice versa. I just couldn’t get the moving components to work, so I went back the next day and met Therone, Mike’s business partner. He showed me step by step how to operate our futon and was patient with me (I’m not that strong so a heavy futon was hard for me to move around on my own). He kept showing me until I learned how to operate the heavy futon on my own. It turns out, I was overthinking the process of operating a futon! Now, I have no problem operating it on my own.
Regarding the futon we bought– the quality is way better than Ikea’s and compared to other stores, their prices are pretty competitive. Ours had a nice solid wood frame with faux suede/​microfiber. The cushion was firm and we slept well on it. It feels really sturdy so I wouldn’t worry about a heavy guest breaking it. Mike also told us that if anything ever breaks, to just call him and he will help us replace the broken part (provided that we did not abuse the poor futon).
I would definitely recommend stopping by here first when you are shopping for futons or a new bed. The owners are friendly, knowledgeable and they understand that different people have different budgets. They are honest and will work with you so that you stay within budget.
