Tranquility Day Spa

We went here for a facial and massage and the five stars are for the massages. I had a deep tissue with Sherry and what magic fingers the lady has! She removed those chronic achy knots from my upper back which I had no luck with massages I had elsewhere earlier. Unfortunately I was only visiting Boston and will not be able to go back regularly. My sister had Diane for her massage and she was very pleased with her massage (first time ever) too.
The facials were alright as well; but definitely must-​go place for massages.

I took my wife there today and it was a wonderful experience. The ladies there were awesome and my wife was really happy. Definitely we are going back !!!

My friend treated me to a massage here and it was fantastic! The outside of the salon is very unassuming but it is a peaceful but busy oasis inside. I agree with others who say the spa is a hidden treasure sitting on a side street in Watertown.
I had my massage with Rachel who asked me beforehand if I had any issues and how much pressure I wanted. She was friendly, professional and made me feel at ease (after all you are letting a stranger touch you). My massage was so relaxing I even fell asleep for a little bit. Rachel was excellent and I would highly recommend her!
Overall, the service I received from the front desk and Rachel was amiable and efficient and with the reasonable prices, I’ll definitely be back!

I checked this place out first, and by that, I mean I checked out their website which was quite lovely. I called right away to set up massage appointments for my mom, BFF, and me. Sharon answered and told me that she’d have to call me back because finding masseurs for three was going to be challenging as some of her staff were under the weather. When I hadn’t heard from her after 24 hours, I called again to check in. She apologized for not having called back, but offered two facials and a massage. I was disappointed but fine with this arrangement. I was not prepared for what I saw when I arrived. Could anything good come out of this unassuming place? Seriously, do not judge a book by its cover. While its appearance could use a bit of touching up here and there, especially in the front room/​entrance, the service is top notch. We were awesomely catered to by Tatiana, Sherry, and Sandy. I am looking forward to returning. Let me rephrase: WE are looking forward to returning… Nuff said.

They are amazing here! The service is personable. I booked a while ago for spa week and needed 3 massages at the same time for a bridal party and they worked with me in making it happen. The bride has a male masseuse and enjoyed the pressure and was very relaxed. My fellow bridesmaid had Sherry and she almost fell asleep because it was amazing. I had Diane and felt very relaxed. Thanks tranquility spa!!! Also make sure to arrive 15 mins before your appointment so that you have time to check in.

Their express services are the best. I get the flash exfoliation and you can’t beat it at $ 25! Though it’s the express service, I’m always taken care of and pampered as if I’m getting the full treatment. The ability to squeeze in a half an hour treatment is extremely valuable to me. Thank you Tranquility and please don’t ever take those services off the menu!

I did a full day here where I received a facial, mani/​pedi, and massage. The services were all great, but the actual venue could use a little work. I initially made an appointment, but I was told they didn’t write it down. So, I had to run errands for two and a half hours before I got in for the day. Also, the pedicure station had rips and tears in it. The robe they gave me for the day was very well worn and it looked slightly dirty. I didn’t wear it at all. The massage table also had an old grubby looking fleece blanket on it. I wanted to remove it, but I wasn’t sure if that would be appropriate.
Like I said, I enjoyed the services, but don’t expect a luxurious spa experience when you go.

This Spa has the worst customer service. Do your self a favor and DO NOT BUY A gift card here. I did and now I have to deal with the horrible staff on the phone. A spa with opening hours by appointment only and you will have to find your way to get them to come in to service you even when the service was pre-​paid via gift card. I gave the gift card to my girlfriend and thought I am doing her something good — but now you have to let the staff harass you on the phone. I called on a Sunday as I was under the assumption a Spa would be opened on such day. I received a lecture from some unfriendly person who I am afraid is the owner. She would not even let me explain what I want. After they had several employees calling in sick, she could not offer the spa treatment, which is fine. But now she blames me/​us for this and is unwilling to accommodate and service us. I will much rather leave my unused giftcard ($ 260) than to speak to this unfriendly hag again. H O R R I B L E.

Had a facial with Sandy. She was very thorough and asked what my skin routine was. Offered feedback and no sales pitch on their products. The heated bed and massage were great!
Bree was very personable and provided an excellent mani/​pedi.
The spa is very nicely decorated. Staff very friendly and offered tea, coffee or water.
Great hidden treasure in Watertown!

Had a spa day yesterday with 6 of my friends from our single mom program through Crittenton Women’s Union.
It was an amazing day. We arrived at 10am and left at 6pm. We spent the whole rainy day in tranquility. We had no sense of time while there. We just relaxed, had champagne cocktails, fruit and veg trays and cold cuts (we brought food) and chatted and truly relaxed all day.
Sharon and her staff are amazing. We had the spa mostly to ourselves after 11am until 5pm. Massage with Joanne was AMAZING, I swear that woman has healing hands! Facial with Sandy was my first ever and I have to go back again. Manicure and Spa Pedicure were the best I ever had thanks to Brie!
I live in Somerville but will take the trip to Watertown again for more services.
Marsha, Sherri and Angelica while you didn’t provide me with services I know the ladies that you did treat were VERY happy!

Update! Owner called me and said that the massage therapist that gave me the worst massage ever is not working there anymore and that they would like to make it up to me by scheduling me with a masseuse who has done many pregnancy massages. I figured their spa should have a second chance so I went back. Needless to say, the massage was great. The masseuse, Sherry worked her magic on my achy back and tired legs. She had nothing but kind words to say and tips/​hints for new moms like me. The sheets on the bed they used was much softer and smoother this time around so I felt really comfortable. If you do decide to get a pregnancy massage here, make sure you request a masseuse who specializes in this type of massage. I actually scheduled a new appointment with Sherry because she knew how to make me relaxed and the amount of pressure she used was just right.

The reason I am giving this spa 3 stars is because the first time I went, I had an excellent massage. I’ve been disappointed with the service ever since then. The last time I booked an appointment (waxing), the previous appointment ran at least 45min late and I was stuck waiting with no indication that I wouldn’t be waiting another half hour. Turns out the previous client had a few add-​on treatments, which made the technician late for my appointment. After 45 min, I ended up leaving… Without waxing services. I made a follow up appointment, and while they were on time for this appointment, I wasn’t crazy about the service. I am a little annoyed that they didn’t offer to discount the service the second time, especially since they wasted my time with the previous appointment.
The waxing technician was nice, but severely lacked attention to detail. There were multiple patches of hair I had to ask her to go over to remove. She was very opinionated and made odd comments about the swelling in my ankles (I am pregnant) which struck me as unnecessary. Overall a mediocre job and I would not recommend it for waxing services in the future.

First time here, it’s great so far. I have significant allergies (gluten/​dairy/​soy) so I hesitate to go for pampering for fear of exposure. The pedicurist checked all the bottles and let me check them as well — everything looks hunkydory so far!
The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing — the perfect way to de-​stress on a Friday afternoon. I’ll definitely come back.

WAY BEYOND EXPECTATIONS is how I could sum up my experience here.
I had walked past this spa many times without thinking much of it. It’s a very tiny unassuming place, and I was wary at first, but OH MY GOD did they prove me wrong.
First off, I went in when they weren’t even open– the owner was there to clean up from a spa party and get the place ready for that afternoon. Nonetheless, she took the time to speak with me about their massage services. I was on a tight schedule and hoping to get a massage in before work that afternoon so the owner made a call to bring in a therapist for me within that hour… a half hour before they were even officially open! THAT is Gold Star customer service!
And then the hot stone massage happened… I seriously just melted away. The therapist, Stephanie, really knows her stuff. Perfect pressure, perfect strokes, very professional. It was exactly what I needed. I left almost an hour and a half later feeling more relaxed than I have in too long.
Needless to say, this is a MUST GO TO SPA in Watertown. Don’t be fooled like I was by the size or location of this place. I will definitely be returning again soon…

I had high hopes after reading other reviews. My esthetician was friendly and prompt, however she didn’t listen to my needs. I asked for extra extraction because my pores were clogged and she barely did any. I feel like I paid for a face massage rather than a facial. Not a happy customer, I definitely won’t return.
My advice. Stay away.

I’ve got to say I am so glad this place is still around. I had gotten a gift certificate from my in-​laws for my birthday in July and finally had a reason and the time to induldge. Boy, I am glad I did.
You’d never know by going in, but ownership has changed. Sharon, the new owner is great. She is friendly, accommodating and considerate. I would never have known there was a change had I not asked.
This place is clean, reasonably priced, quiet, and relaxing. Exactly what a spa should be. Don’t go to the big nameless faceless places — patronize local business!

I made an appointment at Tranquility for a basic facial and when doing so I told the receptionist that I had a gift card and confirmed with her it was accepted there. She reassured me it was fine to use it and went ahead to make an appointment.
To my disappointment, I arrived at my appointment only to find out that the card was not accepted but also to get attitude from the person who was suppose to do my facial. Even though this was not my mistake, she offered no way to accommodate the situation and said «it was up to me to pay for the service because there are no discounts». I must also add that for a person who works at a spa, her appearance was very poor. Her hair was wet and messy, she was wearing an oversize t-​shirt and black sweatpants that looked like they could use a wash. This may be superficial but her appearance alone made me feel a bit thankful I didn’t get the service. After all, if she puts just as much effort into the service as she does in getting ready for work, then I wouldn’t expect a superb experience.
Apparently, the spa is transitioning owners and «no one knows all the information» according to the woman. I would probably wait till they get things straightened out before you get false information or receive a mediocre service.

I’ve been seeing Leah regularly for all of my waxing needs for the past year. I will never ever let anyone else near me with a pot of wax! She’s amazing.
I just had a facial from her and my face is as smooth as a babies bottom. She took her time with extractions (hey, it’s been a while) and gave a great face massage than I hadn’t ever experience. Actually, come to think of it, she has a lot of little tricks up her sleeve!
I noticed she now offers makeup sessions and does weddings and events. Is there anything this girl can’t do?!

If I could give this place 20 stars, I would. I found it on Unilocal and read its good reviews. Suffering from back ache’s all week, I decided at about 4:30 there was nothing I needed more today than a massage. I called with low hopes of getting an appointment, and got one just a few hours away.
My appointment was with Sarah, who was awesome! I have gone into other establishments asking to focus on my back and they have still spent just as much time on every other area. Sarah concentrated on my back/​neck/​shoulders as asked and it was one of the best massages I have ever had. She was excellent. It was a swedish massage, but she still successfully managed to get the knots out of my back.
I CANNOT WAIT to go back!

I know a lot of guys feel weird about going to a ‘spa’, or even talking about different things. Weather it be hair removal, help with skin from shaving, or massage, spas offer guys almost as much as they offer women!
I found Tranquility through an online search, read some reviews (specifically on Unilocal — thank you!), and went to their website.
I found it great that even on their website, they dedicated articles and pages to guys specifically (along with male specific services). This was important to me, as it showed they understood their clients and potential clients.
I went in, and Leah was great. Thorough, quick, and VERY good at what she does. I will be going back again, and would recommend anyone else would go too.
The kicker on top of it all? The prices are great. I was worried that moving from Western MA to the Boston area I would be in for a price hike — but not the case. Actually ended up being $ 1 less than I was used to paying.
Call, go, visit the website, visit in person. VERY well worth it. Linda and Leah are both great people, and you will be very happy you did go!
