The Theodorou Academy of Jiu Jitsu is the award winning leader (Best of Boston A-​List 2006, 2007 and 2010) in practical self-​defense classes in the Boston area since 1990. Our American Jiu Jitsu based self-​defense classes offer a rewarding experience that includes a vast array of modern techniques. Students will learn how to defend themselves in a variety of street situations while also enhancing their fitness and conditioning. Classes are fun, friendly and interactive and have helped us maintain a high level of student satisfaction. Located near the Arsenal Mall in Watertown, our self-​defense classes are centrally located near Boston, Cambridge, Arlington and Belmont.

Sensei Theodorou is a 6^th degree Black Belt in the Japanese martial art of Hakko Ryu Jiu Jitsu. He began his martial arts training in the early 1980’s practicing Shotokan karate, Chinese Kenpo and kickboxing. Then in 1985, Sensei Theodorou began training in American Jiu Jitsu (Hakko Ryu) directly under O’Sensei Joe Puleio, achieving the rank of Shodan (1^st Degree Black Belt) in 1989. During his nearly 30 years of martial arts training, he has studied American Jiu Jitsu (Hakko Ryu), Philippine stick and knife fighting, aikido, judo, grappling and karate. A dedicated instructor, he has promoted over 40 students to the rank of Shodan (1^st degree black belt), fourteen to the rank of Nidan (2^nd degree), eight to the rank of Sandan (3^rd degree) and two to the rank of Yodan (4^th degree). Sensei Theodorou is an expert and specialist in hand-​to-​hand combat, joint locks and weapon defense.
