I thank Unilocal for leading me to Orramac, and I thank Orramac for being such a fair, honest, and good business. If you’ve got an 11 year old son, as I do, this place is essential. They replaced a cracked trackpad on our MacBook Pro, two keys, fixed the loose screen (hinges had never been tightened after last serviced at the Apple Store in Chestnut Hill), and cleaned it all up «good as new.» I recommend these guys without reservation.

this is my go-​to-​place for mac repair. i have been using them for about 8+ years and they are 100% perfect. they have repaired many computers for me and they always have a helpful solution. wouldn’t go anywhere else!

I needed an odd internal part for my MacBook Pro– the hard drive connector cable. I was having an infamous issue where the computer won’t boot due to the connector being faulty (it shows a flashing folder & question mark). I called many local places but they all said that they don’t carry the parts on hand and it would cost me upwards of $ 60. I called here and they had the part in stock. I came in and they gave me honest advice & the price was only $ 40. Very fair! I recommend coming here for repairs & parts. They also sell refurbished Mac’s!

This is the first time I’ve written a Unilocal review, but I felt compelled to for Orramac. I dropped a hard drive and could not get my data off it. So I brought it over and they said they would see if they could recover it. Unfortunately they were not able to recover the data and explained that it has a mechanical problem. He did not charge me for the diagnosis since they couldn’t fix it, which really impressed me. He provided me with information on where I could send it for repairs, but warned me that it would be expensive. It’s an honest business.

That moment when your computer goes blank, and you realize you haven’t backed it up in a looong time…
Fear not. Orramac was a weight off my shoulders — professional, timely, not too pricey (considering!), and informative. I would highly recommend coming here for your computer troubles.
My experience here was great, and most importantly I didn’t need a new computer or lose all my data.

these guys are sweethearts. when my 2013 macbook pro retina died (aka couldn’t boot up one day) (aka WTF, Apple? this laptop was 1 year old), i got on the phone with orramac to see if i should bring it in for a consult, after spending a couple hours with applecare the previous night (PRAM reset failed, disk partitioning failed, recognition of the drive failed). the guy i talked to kindly walked me through a range of common possibilities, gave me a very reasonable timeline (1 – 3 days) and projected price of repair/​data restoration, and i took a drive over during my lunch break. orramac is formerly apple certified but not anymore (rumor has it due to their helping repair ipads and iphones, which was a big no-​no according to apple — not a retraction of certification due to a lack of quality work). this place was also recommended by tech superpowers, which is apple certified but now exclusively does contract work and no walk-​ins.
unlike computer loft (which is also apple certified), orramac promised a same-​day free evaluation of my problem and unless they reached a resolution (in this case, data recovery prior to taking it to the Apple store or an Apple-​certified repair center for hardware/​software work). computer loft refused to give any information on the phone, and suggested a 3 day to 1 week turnaround and a much higher data recovery price.
long story short, orramac unfortunately diagnosed that the solid state hard drive was fried (WTF, apple?), that this is not the first time they’ve seen it, and that i were to go to the apple store or computer loft for data recovery (if they could do it – orramac could not due to not having specialized hardware to access the hard drive, but also said that even with the hardware, potential of data recovery was slim in my case). i was charged nothing. i was also charged nothing when i asked to retrieve items from my time machine backup onto a USB flash drive.
god forbid i have another apple problem requiring data recovery (i will back up my files much more often now!), but if i needed them again, orramac will be my go-​to source!

I love Orramac! I’ll put it simply that I can drop off my iMac or my iPad (twice now, I’m a klutz), tell them what’s wrong, and walk away knowing that I won’t get screwed over. If I am not sure what is wrong, they generally know exactly what it is on the spot. I just brought my iPad 2 here for the second time — I dropped it and the screen went black and wouldn’t display anything at all — he knew what it was, gave me a rough quote and two business days later, called me when it was fixed, told me exactly what was wrong and the price was the same although there was another issue that he had found when looking into the initial problem.
The real value of Orramac is in the absolutely comfort that you have leaving your computer with them.
I should also mention that I’ve never spent more that ten minutes in there and that was only because it took me a few extra minutes to take iMac out of the box. Its a great, efficient place and I definitely recommend it!

I’ve had great results with upgrades on 2 MacBook Pros, RAM and SSD. Full marks for quality of work and service. They take the time to discuss options and explain what they will do. Follow-​up and phone messages have been prompt and considerate. Anything they can’t do (for a Mac) probably isn’t with doing.

Took my fried hard drive in to see if he could recover it. He explained the procedure, explained the chances and gave it a try with three different programs. Unfortunately he could not retrieve the data, but he offered me the chance to send it his colleague, but advised it would be much more expensive.
Super nice guy. I offered to pay for the diagnosis, but he refused since he said he couldn’t fix it. Anyone that has problems with pricing at Orramac, needs to work on their communication skills. He was very clear, did his best, and didn’t charge when he couldn’t fix it. All of this done in less than 24 hours.
I will return!!!

My husband brought his laptop in here a few months ago to get recovered data moved to his new laptop. It was done quickly by the really friendly guy. Today, we took my laptop in. The owner looked at it and told me if I wanted his honest opinion, it was a better idea to buy a new laptop instead of fixing this one. If, as one of the below negative review suggested, they were trying to fleece people for lovey, he could easily have suggested I get it fixed, and then in a few months I probably would’ve been bringing it in again. He didn’t even charge us a diagnostic fee and instead told us to bring in a new laptop or external hard drive and we would pay the normal fee for data recovery (and by the way, to the person that was offended by the cost, their sign — and website — clearly state the minimum diagnosis fee is $ 50. If you can read, you should not be surprised that you would pay this fee as well as the actual service fee). The friendly customer service and straightforward attitude will make this our go-​to computer place from now on.

Osama, the owner, a mild-​mannered gentleman, was very nice over the phone when I discovered by MacBook Pro was not running properly after an OS upgrade. I suspected it needed more RAM and was disappointed when the Apple Store told me they no longer serviced my 2010 laptop, that I had to obtain RAM from an independent source and probably install it myself. No way. All I can imagine is putting my computer back together and wondering what the leftover parts were for. To make a long story short, while I sipped on a cool bottle of water, Osama cracked open the Mac, replaced the RAM, and had the whole thing back together before I could finish a 10 oz bottle. His charge for the upgrade was $ 120 plus tax — just a bit more than the cost of the RAM alone. Now my machine is running beautifully again and I am overjoyed to have met this gentleman whose store is so close to where I live, and whose owner is genuinely nice and competent.

I initially went to Orramac to support a local business, but they have since become my first stop for all Apple needs. Osama and Aaron are both very technologically savvy and kind. I highly recommend Orramac to anybody needing computer repairs.

unfortunately, my situation was extremely complex and unusual so Osama himself advised me that trying to repair my computer would be extremely costly and not worth it. rather than trying to make some money, he made a friend. I can honestly say that I believe he did his very best, went the extra mile and really cares about his customers/​reputation. on top of all that. he didn’t even charge me for all the time and effort he put into my computer

Osama is the best. After going to the Apple store and being disgusted by the prices, I popped in to ask if he know of a good deal on a MacBook Pro. He had a 15 inch, 2.66ghz i7 for 1000. I wanted an SSD instead of spinning rust. He had the drive installed and setup as the boot drive the next morning.

They did some work for me when I had some computer issues. They were complete in explaining what the problem was and keeping me up to speed on the repairs. They were able to save some important info and pictures I had on my computer so I ended up feeling very greatful for the service they provide and now my computer is working better than ever.

This was my first trip, but I was really impressed. I was in the market for a refurbed Mac and they had just what I needed. Got a quick & easy memory upgrade on the spot for just the cost of the RAM, plus a complimentary new display cable, PLUS they loaned me the firewire ⁸⁰⁰⁄₄₀₀ cable to transfer the stuff from my old machine.
Osama clearly cares about good service. When I first walked in to the shop, he was replacing a couple keys on someone’s laptop — free of charge, from the sound of it. My own experience also showed that he puts the customer first. Forget the chain electronics stores and bring your business here — it’s a perfect example of what a small, local shop should be.
