Terrible customer service. I needed to replace a front entry door and wanted to upgrade to a sleek, modern, mahogany door. I like to shop local so I went to the showroom and they didn’t really have what I was looking for there, but was told I could look online. I also was given a list of recommended contractors and one of them I had found on Angie’s list. That contractor came out and said to go through this store. He gave me a quote for installation of about $ 1,000. (The relationship between the contractor and the door vendor is important because the contractor needs to order the door with their specs so if there is a problem, it’s on them.)
I found the door style I wanted, but there were variations depending on the amount of glass panels. I called the store and left several messages for 2 weeks for the sales person, and didn’t get a call back. I finally got him on the phone and told him the model of the door I was interested in. He was abrupt and told me he would only quote me 1 door. I asked if he could at least tell me if it cost more or less if it had more glass panels. I explained I needed to get a move on it because I know it takes time and my current door was broken. After waiting 2 weeks I never got a quote and called to follow up. The sales rep was on vacation. There was no record of me and I don’t think he had any intention of getting me a quote. I asked if someone else could help. That person was really good about responding and the door prices was within my budget. I told him that their recommended contractor would give him the specs. Normally I would just cut my losses there, but I the contractor recommended I get it from them, I had already looked for contractors with no luck and the clocks was ticking for me to get a new door before the weather got cold.
I let the rep at the store know the contractor came by to double-​check his specs and was going to call him so I could move on the project. I didn’t hear from the contractor of the store. I finally got hold of the contractor who told me he wouldn’t honor the price he quoted and he really wanted $ 2,000 to hang the door and 10% of the purchase price of the door, but he’d give me a small break, or I could just find someone else. It was clear he just didn’t want to do the job which would have been fine if he had not strung me along for over a month. My sense is that he called the store and said he didn’t want to do the job, so that’s why I never got the quote from the store.
I wasted so much time on this. I know the store has no control over the contractor, but they recommended him. However, the initial rudeness and lack of customer service from the first rep was unacceptable.
It took more research and time, but eventually I purchased same door I could have got from them from another company and had it installed. I guess my one door didn’t make me valuable enough as a customer, which is a short-​sighted way of running a business.

My door order came in wrong and they didn’t want to take responsibility for their error. The order took a long time to place too, as though they’re too busy and important to bother corresponding more than once a week. Wouldn’t recommend for a homeowner to purchase from them, seemed like they only want to help with large accounts.

I’ve been working with MacLeod & Moynihan for several years as I renovate my home. From my novice beginnings Cara was extremely helpful in explaining the options, how to measure, the pros-​and-​cons, etc. The rest of the staff there has been equally helpful/​cordial. And I found their prices to be competitive with the big box stores. The bottom line is I got doors and windows that look and fit great along with first-​class service!
