My father and uncle have proudly owned Joe’s Variety since 1976. Joe’s was originally established by two Watertown icons, Joe & Nino. Alan originally purchased Joe’s with his brother Ronnie in 1976. Later Ronnie sold his half to his younger brother Jack.

We do our best to give back to the community. We support local youth sports teams and host a team for the Walk to End Alzheimers every year. Most Saturday’s in the fall you will see many local kids canning standing at our front door to support their sports teams. We believe we should take care of the place we live. We all live here and we should all give back.

Al and Jack take great pride in every single sandwich they make. As they may not be the most computer savvy people, they want to make sure that you have the ability to rate us and give us your feedback. Call us anytime!

These subs are awesome! I got the Roast Beef and it was really tasty. The meat and bread are tender and fresh, the service is friendly, and the price is great — a sub (I’d guess close to 1 foot long) is about $ 7. It’s plenty of food and the remainder (if there’s any remainder) can easily be eaten hours later even with the hot pepper mix it doesn’t make the bread terribly soggy. They remind me of the subs we would eat while going up in rural Pennslyvania. I’ll definitely be back.
Tip — Cash only although there is an ATM on site.

AWESOME SUBS — Nothing fancy, but bread is always fresh, cold cuts are delicious, service is fast, and the prices can’t be beat! Try the Italian, Roast Beef, or Meatball. LOVE this place.

I moved to the area about a year ago and yet it wasn’t only until recently that I decided to go into Joe’s– even though every time I saw it the parking lot was full, which usually signals something good.
Well I went in for a ham, egg, and cheese on a bagel and coffee. Let me tell you, it was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve had and it was completely fairly priced. I do have to say, coming from a coffee snob, their cup of joe is pretty good too!
With generous portions, a caring and hard working staff, and great food, you can’t go wrong with Joe’s!

Ive been coming here since I was a wee one. My favs are turkey and meatball subs. Always packed full of meat and good size. Its a cute little shop and most of the employees are high school kids. This is my go to for lunch!

You don’t have to be a townie to enjoy probably the «BEST» Roast Beef sub in Middlesex County. Their cold cut platters will help make sure your Super Bowl or World Series parties are a hit. A definite must if you’re in the area. Watertown Strong at its finest…

Cheap. Fast. Tasty. That just about sums up Joe’s. While this is not gourmet food it is satisfying to anyone who needs lunch in a hurry and doesn’t have a lot to spend. No exotic subs served here — this is a pretty basic, standard local place. Looking for fine dining? Look elsewhere. Need food, and want to feel at home? Try Joe’s.

Joe’s is a great place if you are looking for a simple sandwich or sub without frilly names. The bread is fresh and the deli meat was great. When you need a place to grab a quick lunch, I recommend Joe’s. Plus they have the little milks you got when you were in grade school.

If you get lucky, you’ll get some one who washed there hands some where around 1982. So if your particular about the cleanliness of the hands making your subs, you may want to skip Joe’s.
However, if you can look the other way when some one uses the cash register and then makes your sandwich ungloved, you will be heavily rewarded!
Joe’s is famous with anyone who has spent some time in Watertown. It is just a small sub shop that is extremely popular with city workers, firemen, and police officers… which means it is really good, and really cheap!
They make no-​nonsense, fresh and delicious subs on either a bulky or sub roll. They cut the meat and cheese as you order. You will definitely run into a line during the lunch rush, but it moves fast.
Cheap– think large meatball grinder for under $ 5.
In summation, if I only take a 1 star deduction for the lack of hand washing, you know these are damn good subs!
