Mel and Patty are the best! Guys is one of those neighborhood gems, a true part of the community. The regulars are really regular. The haircut is a great value for the quality cut you get. My husband has, seriously, 5 cowlicks on his head and Mel can make him look like a presentable human being. She cut my hair as well, it was an emergency, but she got me in on a Saturday am walk-​in and did a fantastic job. They do cuts on a walk-​in basis. If you need anything else, color, wash, etc, make an appointment.

Had my hair done with Patty. She did it exactly how I wanted and is great to talk to. This place is very informal and I like that, great for a quick in and out cut… with coffee :)
They do everything here you’d get at much fancier pretencious salons only at a fraction of the price!
It’s a family friendly spot and they have a lot of walk-​ins. If you want something fancier or want a wash and styling included ask in advance.
My friends cut and color turned out great too. I’ll be back in a week or two for color.

I am very satisfied with my first cut. I told one of the barbers what I didn’t like about the cut I got from another place a month prior, she completely understood and fixed/​did it up properly. I’ll be back here again, for sure.

A small, good priced, personal salon for men… and kids! I send my hubby often & my son refuses to let anyone besides Melanie (the owner) cut his hair! Its always done right & for the right price!

What it is
I go to Guys Hair Shop for most of my hair cuts, and it is perfect for an every day cut (way better than great cuts/​super cuts). The stylists there are very nice, personable, easy to chat with, and do a very decent job cutting my hair. Most of them are very good about asking exactly what I want, and the prices are very reasonable ($ 14 for a cut). They recently renovated the inside, so it is comfortable, clean and modern. SInce they only do men’s hair, there is never really a long wait.
What it isn’t
When I need a really perfect cut, like for my wedding, I go to a salon (usually on Newbury street… :shiver:). I’m not expecting the stylists at Guys to take 20 minutes making sure everything is perfectly symmetrical — speed, adequacy, and ease are the goal here.
All in all, a great place for a decent cut.
